Marcia he still didn't win though. Unelectability isn't the only reason people don't like him. I really don't but would rather have him than the other lot. However, labour seem to be riding on this like the next election is a done deal. That really scares me. Yes labour vote share was higher than expected but labour gained votes in many labour seats, that doesn't necessarily translate into more seats next time. Many seats were won (for all parties) on tiny majorities. Many lib dems and greens lent votes as part of a progressive alliance but that may not happen again as his stance on brexit has become clearer (this may also affect the youth vote). Top that off with a beyond rubbish campaign from the tories and the next election may look very different.

Absolutely nothing fake when he called the terrorists his friends or that killing Bin Laden was a "tragedy". He was totally sincere.

I have no doubt that he also believes that increasing our debt by half a trillion pounds won't do to us what it did to Greece. But then he did get two Es at A level.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 24/06/2017 20:53

Saying he's fake is a bit ridiculous as his track record as an mp shows he is remarkably consistent and true to his principles.

This. If anything his fatal flaw is that he believes a bit too deeply. To be Prime Minister you need to be a bit of a pragmatist I would have thought.

"To be Prime Minister you need to be a bit of a pragmatist I would have thought." To be fair he did seem to manage that with the manifesto - he appeared to have taken account of the view of the rest of his party on issues such as Trident, regardless of his own personal opinions.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/06/2017 21:02

Damn him for inspiring so many young people to strive for equality, fairness and peace.

Sittinginthesun · 24/06/2017 21:05

Absolutely OYBBK, ultimately that is all he is striving for. Equality, fairness, peace. How anyone can say that is creepy...?

Didiusfalco · 24/06/2017 21:06

Just watched the whole speech. He nailed it.

phoenix1973 · 24/06/2017 21:09

He's securing votes.

ShoesHaveSouls · 24/06/2017 21:12

Got to laugh at people who think Glastonbury is 'just' a music festival - it's always been so much more than that.

Music, dance, theatre, poetry, the Green fields, the stone circle. And always been political - left wing, environmentally aware. I don't know if they still have the Teepees field that was always there in the 90's - real nomadic travellers based in Wales. I hope they do - we used to wander around chatting to them, they were lovely.

I thought JC was good, not creepy at all. The engagement of the youth vote is the best thing to happen in this election.

LaurieFairyCake · 24/06/2017 21:13

He's spoken about environmental issues and Trump to a liberal hippy crowd

Bloody good on him. Ffs we are PROPER FUCKED environmentally if we don't do something.

utterchaos · 24/06/2017 21:13

Absolutely nothing fake when he called the terrorists his friends or that killing Bin Laden was a "tragedy". He was totally sincere.

This again?! FFS.

So, if you have a problem with JC meeting Sinn Fein many years ago in an attempt to bring about PEACE.

I assume you must surely have a much bigger issue with TM meeting with and selling billions of pounds of arms to the Saudis, who almost certainly pass them on to ISIS.

No? Why not?! Do you support ISIS? I assume not! Then why support someone who cares more about money and power than whether she associates with people supporting terrorists.

And the Bin Laden comments. He wasn't saying he sympathised with Bin Laden - why the fuck would he? Do you really think that? Honestly? Why would JC support Bin Laden? Please give me one good reason!

He was saying it was a tragedy he wasn't brought to justice in front of the world, in a court, surely you know that really?

MerryMarigold · 24/06/2017 21:14

Hee should have burst into a Jesus Christ Superstar track. Bit disappointed he didn't, if I'm honest.

Therealslimshady1 · 24/06/2017 21:20

He spoke to a nice selection of ultimate champagne socialists Grin

WelliesAndPyjamas · 24/06/2017 21:20

Extremely cringeworthy

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 24/06/2017 21:23

Glastonbury has always been about raising the profile of political and ethical issues.

PickAChew · 24/06/2017 21:27

Should Corbyn maybe not visit the Durham Miners' Gala next month on account of not being a miner? I mean, who would want him there?

seasonschooner · 24/06/2017 21:30

I didn't see it, but the thought turns my stomach.🤢

CaptainBrickbeard · 24/06/2017 21:32

He's really got the right wing rattled, hasn't he? Grin I have my reservations about him - mostly Brexit related - but the kind of engagement and excitement he has inspired is remarkable. I do unreservedly love a dose of idealism as an antidote to the misery peddled by the Tories. It's interesting that no one is rebuffing the content of his speech, just more personal attacks which was shown to be a failing strategy in the election campaign. The right seem desperate to try too hard to make the left seem hypocritical when it just doesn't fit - how ludicrous to compare him to Trump, for example. It heartens me to see the panic on the other side- and when I hear terms like 'regressive left' or when someone on here hilariously attempted to make 'alt-left' happen, it really fills me with optimism for the future. He's changing politics and it's exciting and hopeful. His speech was great.

PickAChew · 24/06/2017 21:32

Very delicate constitution you have, there, seasonschooner

Scandelicious · 24/06/2017 21:32

Utter chaos
It was Hamas and Hezbollah he called his friends. Thinks Hamas is a peace loving organization, only out for political justice. Bless their little cotton socks

bigsighall · 24/06/2017 21:34

Jc... you didn't win. Cringe

Scandelicious · 24/06/2017 21:34

Captain

I'm left wing and I despise him. Will not vote labour while he's in charge
