To feel incredibly sad over treatment of the slenderman attempted murder girls

So I watched the documentary early this morning and just can't stop thinking about the 2 girls.
I understand what they did totally and they've never once denied what they did either.
I just feel so very sad that a so called compassionate society would treat as they are.
Of course it was wrong but they need help and love and care and proper treatment, not to be put on trial as adults 2 years after the offence with a chance of anything upto 65 years In prison.
I already have a low opinion on the USA in general and this lowers it more to feel it's terrible to treat them as they are.
I think about if it was my eldest girl and yes she knows right and wrong but no girl her age thinks about consequences thinks about things at all as an adult will.
I think the justice system they are been put through is very sick and twisted.also makes me wonder if they were of rich parents this may not be as it is now.
If they had been allowed to be tried as juveniles they would be out of prison at 18 but could still be monitored fully as needed. That would still be 6 years in prison. For a child 6 years is An entire life to them.

They are definitely old enough to pay for their crimes. I remember being that age & would never have murdered someone in cold blood like these evil lumps did.

Carollocking · 28/01/2017 19:58

I don't see that is the case from what I've seen anyway

Carollocking · 28/01/2017 19:59

They didn't murder anyone

OP posts:
originalmavis · 28/01/2017 20:01

Not from lack of trying. They planned a murder and tried to carry it out. They thought they had.

Badcat666 · 28/01/2017 20:02

No they didn't murder her Carollocking because she crawled her way to get help. They left her in the woods TO DIE.

You are just whitewashing what they did by saying "they didn't murder anyone". They wanted to murder her but the girl saved herself.

Her being alive doesn't lesson what they did to her or wanted to do to her.

Misstic · 28/01/2017 20:02

They are not normal because most people do not commit murder. However, being out of the ordinary, or doing something out of the ordinary does not automatically mean mental illness.

Badcat66, read your first post. In it yoy said it seems they thought what they did was fine.

1happyhippie · 28/01/2017 20:02

They attempted to murder her!
If she wasn't found when she was, she would be dead!
Their plan was certainly to murder her.

Carollocking · 28/01/2017 20:02

However I didn't open post to discuss if they did this we know they did and they have never denied it.
I opened because I don't agree with there treatment in the legal system etc

Seems the record is stuck

It was pure luck hey didn't murder that poor child, not through any lack of trying.

I think some people have got their sympathies all mixed up. Who looks at a situation like this and goes 'ooo I feel so sorry for the girls that planned, lured and repeatedly stabbed a child cos now they are probably going to go to big jaily waily' Confused

Some people are just bad. And I think society would be a better place if we all focused our sympathy to the victims first.

Misstic · 28/01/2017 20:06

Thompson and Venables remain a danger to society and children. It is well known that have continued to commit crimes against children.

These girls are and will always be dangers to society. Depending on the crime, I agree people can be rehabilitated. Murder of that nature - plotting the murder of a friend for kicks? No! They are sociopaths. They cannot be fixed.

Whatthefreakinwhatnow · 28/01/2017 20:10

OP, as someone who works in the field of forensic psychology, I'm afraid you appear to be woefully uninformed about "mental health issues" and their impact on criminal responsibility.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 28/01/2017 20:14

Are you serious? If so you need to have a serious look at yourself.

Carollocking · 28/01/2017 20:14

And.? I don't remember saying i am an expert in such things so I don't see what your point is ?

OP posts:
Carollocking · 28/01/2017 20:15

Records stuck again ,already said yes I'm serious

I'm so glad these psychos will be locked up. OP, Charles Manson is still alive, why not send him a card of sympathy, too, because technically, he didn't murder the 5 people in Cielo Drive or the LaBianco's, either.

WhereYouLeftIt · 28/01/2017 20:18

"Of course it was wrong but they need help and love and care and proper treatment, not to be put on trial as adults 2 years after the offence with a chance of anything upto 65 years In prison."
Or perhaps they present an ongoing danger to the public, who deserve to be protected from them?

HunterHearstHelmsley · 28/01/2017 20:19

Haha! At "records stuck". Drop the sarcasm when you've started such a thoroughly idiotic thread.

Manumission · 28/01/2017 20:19

brighthouse · 28/01/2017 20:19

Watch the 20/20 documentary on it. It might just change your mind when see just how it has affected the victim and her family.

It was premeditated. Glad the girls are locked up.

Badcat666 · 28/01/2017 20:19

Badcat66, read your first post. In it yoy said it seems they thought what they did was fine.

No I didn't. I was merely stating that I knew at 12 that murder was wrong. I was replying to the OP original post.

expatinscotland · 28/01/2017 20:19

Sorry, the 6 people in Cielo Drive since Sharon Tate was far enough along for her son to have survived outside her womb.

When you say catch up tv what do you mean OP? Was it shown on a main channel?

Backt0Black · 28/01/2017 20:21

OP, you really are getting quite arsey with responders. What DO you want? for everyone just to agree with you?

'Yes you are right OP, the treatment is too harsh'?

No - I'm sorry, I'm not giving the perpetrators a second thought for the premeditated, gravely violent act.

They were cowardly in ganging up on their victim and they left her for DEAD. How on earth will the poor girl ever get over that. They have ruined her life...... for what? kicks and some bizarre character adulation.
