I've just read on the net about the 2 year old who was sexually assulte and murdered. why does this have to happen? I'm very upset as i'm sure you all will be once you hear/read about this. Have a look at \link{http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yorkshire/6356009.stm}

OP posts:

I hate to see these cases, I haven't clicked on the link, I don't need to know the particulars. And I can't begin to imagine how the parents must be feeling.

As to the rest of the thread, I'm with Pann's summing-up.

AitchTwoOh · 15/02/2007 00:33

funny you should mention the express, vvvqv. i've worked for them in the past and i was forever having to get my knickers in a twist (v male environment, so that's how it was seen) about what we could report pre-trial or not. i can assure you that the likelihood of the 'criminals' suing was taken into consideration. so, an interesting crime and some poor, uneducated people in the frame? they could pretty much say what they wanted... unless i was there stamping my pretty little feet.

TaylorsMummy · 15/02/2007 11:15

the bastard has appeared in court this morning charged with rape and murder

mummylin2495 · 15/02/2007 11:52

poor poor little girl,it is so upsetting to imagine the fear she went through. The uncle is obviously sick in more ways than one.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/02/2007 13:09

Aitch, there were many "Suggestions" by the Express as to how the perpetrator found the opportunity (naturally the parents fault ), speculation about SS involvement etc. All very much put together with very little fact. The most information they had was based on when the poor little thing was discovered. They cant possibly know much of anything else - the Police wouldnt let on - i know they wouldnt.

doesn't surprise me. it was bad enough there before richard desmond...

Calling icod : thanks for your interesting insight to my post. in answer to your formidable questions: (no previous at all) to have previous you must have a recorded crime against you, many start small and build up never being reported for years, testing the water proved by many cases taken to court years later when the child has reach adulthood. there are two types of crime that of recorded crime and that of unrecorded crime victms of crime and estimated crime. check the national statistic data of crime.
(crimes of passion) Murders do think their crimes are committed in passion / heat of the moment i.e. domestics, your right. however he committed two act abuse/rape then murder. in the court you must have two elements to murder the physical and the mental (actus reus)i sure he had both. check. you go right a head and give them another excuss.would you take that as a reson if it was your kid.
(prison wings) the decatgorisation of prisons to one for murder and one for all other the old school way, would i'm sure make the normal teenager think twice about steeling that car if he know he was not going to be locked up with other just like he.or peadophiles know he may have to share a cell with some who may kill him in his sleep.this may stop prison chat of what offences they comitted, apply the feeling of fear they do..would you admit to anything in this enviroment.
(wrong covictions) are the judical systems problems not the prison services subject matter please.
(clear cut cases) this is clearly that arrested at the sence. you have to prove beyond all resonable dought i'm sure the court has that.
Bring it on, icod years of experience working with the cases like this, A levels in related subject sociology, law, criminology. not the sun newspaper. which only report the must readable cases, what about the hundreds of cases that never make it to the front page.

us · 15/02/2007 14:57

oh and ICOD you forgot to mention educating the public. What are your feelings on that?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/02/2007 15:33

us

some very interesting points you make.

Although I am somewhat dubious about the fact that feel your opinion must be more qualified than someone else's (by listing your educational background).

us · 15/02/2007 15:33

For GUMPYOLDHORSEWOMAN AND ALIKE it's wonderful to hear that there are mum's who are not so drawn into the dare scrappy facts on tommorrows chip paper. and truley think of the bigger picture. all this has i'm sure brought home to us that we must make our childrens world small, how small i don't know.I do know that i will be checking myself about my enviroment that frequently becomes lazy. enjoyed the chat signing off.:-)

OH you just got me leaving, only saying newspapers are not the best form of resource to inform yourself with,in such a important subject. making sweeping statements based on this alone is a fraglie place to put yourself.some where i wouldn't put myself. not full inform is dangerous. subjectively is good but not grounds for a good bedate. which i think icod was wanting.

unknownrebelbang · 15/02/2007 15:44

Some of us don't rely on newspapers to get our facts about these sort of cases.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/02/2007 15:45

Well, cod knows quite alot about this kind of thing too, because is pretty well informed from the law background she comes from.

So she isnt gleaning all her information from newspapers, and could have a very subjective debate with you, should you wish.

She can also, of course, speak for herself but it seems I have appointed myself cod spokesperson today

AitchTwoOh · 15/02/2007 15:53

where's Busty? i liked Busty...

Us, don't take this the wrong way but i'm finding it very difficult to read your posts because they aren't broken up by white space on the screen, so tbh i don't know whether i agree with you or not. could you use the paragraph thign a bit more? cheers.

us · 15/02/2007 15:57

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/02/2007 15:58

Will bring Busty out to play later.....

Pann · 15/02/2007 16:07

us..like Aitch, but, not sure how much I do disagree with you, as I can't read large chunks of your posts????

us · 15/02/2007 16:11

this surprises me that she didn't know that there are two elements to murder. or centre for offenders near school clearly post in many newspapers over the last few years.

un your right i'm sure she would have a subjective chat with me but like i said fact is where i'm at.

The transcript of this thread does show many contradictions in her in put FACT.

strangely we a agree on one thing it's wrong, but like i said we spent time debating in stead of demanding. chat again a'm sure we will. continuing to be proactive us. x
