While watching this morning's Eu debates an argument was put forward
that it was mainly the educated/qualified in the large cities like London
Edinburgh and Brighton voting to remain as they were the most mobile/
more likely to be moving to Europe for jobs etc
This is not necessarily this poster's view but it does seem these places
have more "knowledge "jobs than the provinces So I would like these
degree holding Mmnetters to disclose whether there is any truth in this?

and they have the nerve to call leavers rascist! FFS. they are being discriminating towards the so called lower classes and thick stupid uneducated eh?

WeekendAway · 24/06/2016 17:03

My DH and three of his good friends all have pretty senior jobs with six figure salaries in either banking or finance. They all voted to leave.

AyeAmarok · 24/06/2016 17:08

Two degrees, Remain. As is everyone I know (who are nearly all degree educated professionals too).

Glasgow.

WeekendAway · 24/06/2016 17:09

Keyser I totally agree with everything in your last post.

PinkBuffalo · 24/06/2016 17:13

Degree, very working class, highly deprived area
Voted leave
I went and voted very informed. I read lots including 5 presidents report, and dislike farage. Have never voted ukip.
Does this help??

Nobrain · 24/06/2016 17:15

Remain. Working class, 1 GCSE.

redshoeblueshoe · 24/06/2016 17:27

Keyser - excellent post

Oliviaerinpope · 24/06/2016 17:29

Multiple postgraduate level qualifications and professional job - I voted remain.

Footle · 24/06/2016 17:33

DH and I are old, educated, find it hard to specify our social class, and voted Remain.

Chipstick10 · 24/06/2016 17:37

No degree no qualifications . Politically engaged. Voted out

NewLife4Me · 24/06/2016 17:41

Didn't vote but was slightly more in favour of leave.
Several Graduate and PG quals.

I think it's more to do with the type of job you have than the education you have.
Lots of wc people who are unemployed, on waiting lists are getting pissed off by the number of immigrants working in places they can't.
I don't think the City workers give a damn about wc tbh

eightbluebirds · 24/06/2016 17:47

I vote remain. I didn't even complete my GCSE's.

Friolero · 24/06/2016 17:52

Undergraduate and Masters degrees - voted remain

marisolgonzales · 24/06/2016 17:53

Me: Working class, Cambridge degree - leave.
DP: Middle class, Senior professional but no degree - leave.

A lot of my uni friends and also colleagues who went to Oxbridge (mainly upper/ upper middle class) were leave.

The remainers i know are mostly under 40, some carers, some pt workers, some professionals, mostly with degrees from non Russell group unis.

Not that it makes any odds. The vote is the vote. Trying to say naice, clever people voted remain and only the uneducated voted leave is a) highly inaccurate b) divisive and c) pointless.

marisolgonzales · 24/06/2016 17:55

Should have said I'm in one of the London boroughs where the majority voted leave.

Roomba · 24/06/2016 18:15

Me: Degree, Post Grad from Russell Group uni - voted remain.

DSis: No qualifications at all and is not v closeted racist, but works for a company mostly staffed by highly qualified staff in financial sector - voted remain and was v passionate about it after listening to what colleagues said.

Every friend I have discussed the issue with (yes, every one) - majority have degrees, some post grads, some doctorates - all voted remain.

My parents, both working class upbringings but see themselves as having 'bettered' themselves via a Grammar School education (Dad has degree level qual, Mum does not) - interestingly both voted remain despite feeling leave would be better for them personally - as they thought it was better for their kids and grandkids to remain and they figured they will die long before the real effects kick in.

Ragwort · 24/06/2016 18:27

Me - degree - remain.

DH - degree - leave

DF - degree - leave

Confused
HainaultViaNewburyPark · 24/06/2016 18:31

Degree, PhD & further post-graduate qualifications - I voted remain.

I'm from a working class background, but I suppose I'd be considered middle class these days.

airedailleurs · 24/06/2016 18:33

degree and post grad and work in banking and voted remain.

absolutely horrified that this farce was even allowed to take place, in shock today

BlunderWomansCat · 24/06/2016 18:49

Degree - voted remain

purplepinny · 24/06/2016 18:57

Degree and post grad and work in higher education - remain.
Gutted at result.

Creatureofthenight · 24/06/2016 18:59

Degree and postgrad quals. Live in city. No wish to work in Europe.
Voted remain.

SanityClause · 24/06/2016 19:19

I don't want a body of people I didn't elect making decisions and laws for my country.

Well, why didn't you vote in the European elections? I did.

Yeah, I get we got Juncker, who I wouldn't have chosen, but then, in the last general election, we got Cameron, and I wouldn't have chosen him, either.

If more people had voted seriously in the European elections, we might've got a different European Commissioner. (Also if the Torys had stuck with the EPP, they would have had a lot more say in who was put forward as the leader of that party.)

But it was better to "stick it to the man" and vote a load of UKIP MEPs who had no interest in what was good for the UK in Europe, and never bothered to turn up.

SanityClause · 24/06/2016 19:20

Oh, forgot to say.

Degree; remain.

imnottoofussed · 24/06/2016 19:28
