Cologne Sexual Assaults IX and David Davies Web Chat

LumelaMme · 07/02/2016 13:07

On New Year's Eve women in Cologne were amongst those who were sexually assaulted and robbed in mass attacks.
This is a link to the last thread which has links to all the others.

Some of us have begun a petition asking the government to uphold women's rights and freedoms:

THE PETITION _ Please sign and share
The petition

We also hope that tomorrow, Monday 8th February, David TC Davies MP will be on MN for a web chat between 1pm and 2pm - it should be a sticky on either Chat or In The News. David was one of the few MPs who has shown any interest in this whole issue and who has responded sympathetically to those of us concerned about women's rights in a changing world.

Interesting article on the plight of the Yazidi women and girls.

A teenage victim of Cologne describes her experience

The comments from the officers at the end of the article are concerning
"We have had orders from in high that we are not allowed to talk about it"

Two women were sexually assaulted and mugged by a group of around ten men during Berlin's Carnival of Cultures

CaseInPoint · 25/05/2016 13:17

Of course it is sporting, nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that Sweden had the highest number of asylum applications per capita in the EU, or the misogynist culture of those people. Nope it's all the wimins fault.

sportinguista · 25/05/2016 13:20

Well we will go around thinking we can work and show our hair and faces! That'll learn us!

AnnaForbes · 31/05/2016 00:20

Women continue to pay the price of Merkel's foolishness.

Asylsexattacker against some 20 women at German festival
Published May 30 2016 at 18:31
FOREIGN. At least 18 women have so far declared that they had been sexually molested by asylum seekers in connection with a festival in the German Darmstadt during the night of Sunday.

Translated from a Swedish paper.

One very big concern of mine is the reform of the Dublin regulations which state that asylum should be sought in the first safe country. The talks on the reform have been delayed. Im certain the if we vote to stay in the EU, the reform will take place and we will be forced to accept large numbers of men from the MENA region.

Igneococcus · 31/05/2016 06:52

Spiegel says three men have been arrested so far. I'm actually astonished that they have reported it.
Meanwhile, Henning Wehn (who I usually kind of like) says in an interview with the Sunday Times about Cologne “just one evening completely blown out of proportion”.

Sunnsoo · 31/05/2016 11:20

This thread is sick. I just can't believe what I'm reading here! Angry

Why, in 2016, when we have the resources and intelligence to stop crap like this, do we let it continue?!?

If these were racist attacks, something would be done! Sad

AnnaForbes · 31/05/2016 11:29

“just one evening completely blown out of proportion”. I am sure the women who were raped and had the fingers of strangers forced into their vaginas are very reassured by his words Angry.

Sunsoo, it is sickening and even more so as the Western press are so reluctant to give it any coverage. women's freedoms and safety are totally dispensible it seems.

WeMustSurelyBeLearning · 31/05/2016 17:13

The independent is reporting on the assaults at the music festival now. It says the number of complaints are growing and are currently at 18. I wonder what the final tally will be? 3 arrested and 3 more wanted, I'd imagine the number of attackers is probably higher than 6

link

Again, where were the police while this was happening? It's disgraceful and shocking that women's freedom in Europe is being attacked in such a manner.

ThisCakeFilledIsle · 31/05/2016 19:54

Notice Spiegel not allowing any comments.

Igneococcus · 31/05/2016 20:08

Spiegel hasn't allowed comment on articles about migrants for a while now. There are still comment sections on opinion pieces but those get closed quickly sometimes as well. The most blatant comment closure was a few months back in a guest article written by someone who is a Professor for Immigration at a German university and they allowed one comment before they closed it and moved the article off the front of the online edition. I assume they must have been swamped with negative comments.

sportinguista · 05/06/2016 09:07

What will this culture of denial achieve? By doing this they may be playing into the hands of the far right. Ignoring a problem never makes it go away.

mamamea · 11/06/2016 16:48

Girls in Kassel, Germany, are being molested everyday on the way to school by refugees, but the girls didn't want to report the attacks because they didn't want refugees to get a bad reputation.

Limer · 11/06/2016 20:11

mamamea that's appalling. What on earth are these poor girls being taught? That the reputation of refugees matters more than the rights of girls to not be attacked? Heartbreaking. I don't know how Angela Merkel can sleep at night.

Mooingcow · 12/06/2016 11:46

and now it's happening in the UK and being covered up

I feel sick. And very worried indeed.

MariscallRoad · 12/06/2016 12:48

Is this the same news?
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36507138
Three Syrian men deny sex assault in Newcastle

"One of the accused is one of 1,602 Syrians who have arrived in the UK under the resettlement programme.

The scheme was designed to bring vulnerable Syrian refugees directly from refugee camps in the Middle East to the UK.

Those arriving have been screened and vetted by the UN The scheme will see 20,000 refugees come to Britain over the next four years."

shins · 12/06/2016 16:08

Social media explodes about the Stanford rapist which is all well and good but when I contrast it with the deafening silence around Cologne, I just can't take it seriously. Cowards.

A leaked report into a surge in sex crimes by immigrants at German public swimming pools is a 'grave concern', according to officials (link)

'In particular rape and the sexual abuse of children in bathing establishments have given us grave cause for concern'

WeMustSurelyBeLearning · 05/07/2016 21:49

There has been another instance of multiple sexual assaults at a music festival in Sweden. This article gives no details of the suspects but in Swedish media they are being referred to as unaccompanied "underage" refugees from a nearby centre.

mamamea · 06/07/2016 13:07

Reports on dozens of sexual assaults at two separate Swedish festivals.

The Swedes in their eagerness to help refugees have ended up harming their own women.

Signed....Thank you LumelaMme. I know it's old news, but I just can't get over how Cologne's 'feminist' Mayor responded by curbing women's freedom..
