Sex Attacks in Cologne and other European Cities Part IX

Petition

Women in the UK must be free to work, travel and live free of sexual violence

Recently, women across the EU were subjected to mass sexual assaults of a type previously unknown in Europe. We demand that Government brings forward proposals for extra measures to uphold UK women's rights, safety & freedom, and to expand police understanding-recognition-response to such behaviour.

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/archbishop-of-canterbury-says-it-is-not-racist-to-fear-high-level-of-immigration-a6924601.html

just seen this!

Justin Welby says it is 'absolutely outrageous' to condemn people who have concerns about 'one of the greatest movements of people in human history

MariscallRoad · 11/03/2016 10:49

When the Archbishop says 'fear' he explains:
"This is one of the greatest movements of people in human history"
and he says:

"well here is a genuine fear: what happens about housing? What happens about jobs? What happens about access to health services?

Oops Blush sorry didnt read back I was so shocked to see Archbishops comments, I posted straight away.

AnnaForbes · 11/03/2016 11:07

Great to hear Justin Welby on R4. He speaks a lot of truth (I don't say that very often about a religious figure head). IDS is also in the Independent talking about how the elites have shut down debate with accusations of racism. Its a pity they didn't both speak up several years back, we may be further along the line in solving this fiasco if they had.

MariscallRoad · 11/03/2016 11:07

The Archbishop also says:

"In fragile communities particularly - and I've worked in many areas with very fragile communities over my time as a clergyman - there is a genuine fear: what happens about housing? What happens about jobs? What happens about access to health services?" he said"

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/archbishop-of-canterbury-says-it-is-not-racist-to-fear-high-level-of-immigration-a6924601.html

So he tells us these fragile communities do exist in UK, they are real and that we need to know this does happen here even though we may have not seen them in our own neighbourhood.

AMouseLivedinaWindMill · 11/03/2016 11:11

anna the climate was very different even a few years ago, Labour made such a monumental cock up, they suppressed all speech around it, as did their supporters, as did the BBC. Maybe he was scared to speak out too.

All we here is immigration, immigration, immigration, I don't think I have watched a QT without someone mentioning it for years. Politics was not always like this, immigration was NEVER such a hot topic.

Woodhill · 11/03/2016 11:15

I think William Hague and Michael Howard did try but everyone was mesmerised by "things can only get better (not)" Tony Blair.

HelpfulChap · 11/03/2016 11:25

Thank goodness some people are actually starting to realise what others have known for ages.

Shame MN don't afford posters that hold these views the same courtesy. I bet if they had the bottle to put up a list of MNetters that had had posts deleted or had been suspended banned most would be those that have concerns regarding the effects of the mass influx of 'refugees'.

Censorship?

In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act - quite astute that Orwell chap.

MariscallRoad · 11/03/2016 12:24

Help some people have known some of those issues if they had done History subjects at secondary school. Part of Geography GCSE used to be on migration.

Migration fears not racist - Archbishop of Canterbury

From the article:

Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith, who is one of five cabinet ministers campaigning for the UK to leave the EU, welcomed Mr Welby's comments on migration.
"These are rational comments from the archbishop - they're to be welcomed - but you wonder just how late they've come from various people in institutions, so I congratulate him"

Would one of you 'young ladies' explain to an old (me) technophile how to do a link. Thank you.

AnnaForbes · 11/03/2016 16:03

Links are usually converted automatically. If they dont convert, put at the beginnig and at the end.

Fingeronthebutton · 11/03/2016 16:16

Thank you.

Sex attacks on the rise in Austria with up to 12 cases reported per day. Worryingly the article says there were 24 sexual assaults on New Year's Eve which were initially denied by the police. I don't remember reading about that?

TinySombrero · 11/03/2016 17:35

And the police response is stay home after dark. Darkness comes early in a northern winter.

What an infringement of liberty.

Moreshabbythanchic · 11/03/2016 17:40

That will never work, what about women who work in the evenings? Are they supposed to give up work?

AMouseLivedinaWindMill · 11/03/2016 17:46

Stephen Jerand, the county police commissioner, admitted police in the town are struggling to cope – adding that the surge in attacks ‘seem unreal’.

He told MailOnline: 'We called the press meeting this Monday because we have seen an accelerating development here.

"Police have pledged to react to the growing problem by increasing the use of video surveillance technology, and also to offer more advice to women and girls about keeping themselves safe and also urging them to report any incidents quickly.

When the figures were revealed, one Austrian newspaper noted how they had been accused of lying when they initially reported the problem.

On 7 January, tabloid newspaper Osterreich had revealed that sex attacks had not just been carried out in the German city of Cologne, but also in Austria where there had been systematic attacks by young refugees on women in the country.

But the newspaper's reporter Victoria Bichler had then been subjected to a campaign of abuse including the suggestion that she had simply made up her report.

However, in an answer to an official parliamentary question today by the opposition Team Stronach Party, the paper says that its original story was not only proved correct, but in fact the real situation was far worse than even they had realised

From article up there, I think what is getting me is the press being afraid to report this?

WHY?

wHY!

MariscallRoad · 11/03/2016 17:56

nurses go on night shifts too

Moreshabbythanchic · 11/03/2016 18:08

Why does the only solution these countries can come up with is to tell women to stay indoors? Women should not be the ones to change their lifestyle, they are not the criminals. It makes me so cross that the ones in the wrong are the ones being protected.

AMouseLivedinaWindMill · 11/03/2016 18:14

I agree.
We need more patrols at night police on every corner, so women can walk about freely without worry.

I suppose its cheaper and easier to tell women to stay in doors? Esp if said women say " ok".

MariscallRoad · 11/03/2016 18:15

That is a good question why can't the police control crime

HelpfulChap · 11/03/2016 18:18

Moreshabby

Exactly! Do nothing about the perpetrators (god forbid someone calls you a racist) but tell the women to cover up and stay inside.

Fuck me we have set back women's rights hard won over 150 years in less than a decade.

3 German universities have closed their prayer rooms, in two cases because of unreasonable demands by some Muslim men - www.thelocal.de/20160311/no-place-for-allah-as-german-unis-close-prayer-rooms

In a German-language article, problems with prayer rooms at other universities and colleges are reported - www.welt.de/vermischtes/article152169223/Kulturkampf-um-den-Raum-der-Stille-an-der-TU-Dortmund.html

Moderate Muslims are quoted saying that purely Muslim prayer rooms are unnecessary.

Last month, Austria passed a law banning foreign sources of financing to Muslim organisations and requiring imams to be able to speak German
