Sex Attacks in Cologne and other European Cities Part IX

Petition

Women in the UK must be free to work, travel and live free of sexual violence

Recently, women across the EU were subjected to mass sexual assaults of a type previously unknown in Europe. We demand that Government brings forward proposals for extra measures to uphold UK women's rights, safety & freedom, and to expand police understanding-recognition-response to such behaviour.

How do you equate what is an offence in one country / culture against that which is considered an offence in a different country/culture?

In strict Islamic terms apostasy is punishable by death. We have already had cases in the UK where leniency has been shown in sentencing, for cultural differences. This is a slippery slope.

One of the most frightening thoughts I've ever had to explore is the idea of what happens when our traditional British culture is no longer one founded on our centuries of Judeo-Christian values, but has, through time, eventually been replaced by a new 'traditional' British culture based on the tenets of Islam.

Even on this board, MN, you will find posters who do not share your fear, who would be indifferent to the idea as really, it's fine or who would positively prefer it.

In parts of the country it is tacitly accepted by a police force who are emasculated and
blinded.

Woodhill · 10/03/2016 08:57

I don't think the people who are ok with not minding if our heritage is eroded and christian/judaic values no longer exisit are quite naive. Often they could be atheists which is fair enough but if you leave a vacuum Islam may fill it and then atheism may not be an option itms. There is definitely a different mindset amongst the ME men in some cases. The ones we are talking about in Cologne. They don't seem to care.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3484702/Names-family-details-22-000-jihadis-revealed-huge-cache-leaked-ISIS-HR-forms.html

Huge terror leak today, huge top countries with ISIS issues,

Not all the fighters in the forms revealed their nationality, but of those who did, these are the top ones:

485 Saudi Arabia

375 Tunisia

140 Morocco

101 Egypt

35 France

18 Germany

16 Britain

4 USA

126 others from: Lebanon, Belgium, Australia, Netherlands, Russia, and Afganistan

AMouseLivedinaWindMill · 10/03/2016 11:25

Yesterday [Wed] the British head of the EU's crime fighting organisation warned that the chance of a Paris-style terror atrocity on the streets of Britain was growing

Rob Wainwright, the director of Europol, said the continent was facing its biggest security crisis in ten years – and has previously warned almost 5,000 Islamist jihadi fanatics could be at large in the European Union.

Radicalised Europeans who have gained conflict experience in Syria are now returning to the continent, he said.

He said: 'We are working of course around the clock to prevent that from happening but this is a very, very serious threat.'

KatherineMumsnet · 10/03/2016 12:43

Can we please remind folks of our Talk Guidelines, and ask you to avoid making such sweeping statements? We will remove posts that break the guidelines and those who persistently break the guidelines, will be banned.

Indigofactory · 10/03/2016 13:34

pools, gyms and leisure centers will start to be segregated by gender or at least start to have women-only times

And then our children will grow up thinking that's normal. That men probably cannot control their urges and it's at east the equal response of women to curtail any 'provocative' behaviour (which might include breathing in and out).

I think a far more sensible course would be to lobby, at government level, for ME and Gulf states to open their borders and take in refugees. There, they will not have the assimilation problems which are causing such ill feeling and daily headlines here.

Sheik Al Habtoor in Dubai is pro taking in refugees. I'll try and link the article. But IMO that's a good place to start. And kinder all round.

Then there is the issue of economic migrants.

naughtinesscomingout · 10/03/2016 14:25

I don't see any 'sweeping statements'.

We're not supposed to be discussing this are we mnhq?

You want us to stick to bloody kittens, knitting and kitchen aids? Hmm

Sprongpicnic · 10/03/2016 16:10

Nothing wrong with a good kitchenaid thread. However, it is massively important that this is discussed, frankly and without fear of being branded the most heinous insult of all......'right wing'.

It's simply too important to the rights of women not to, or we risk sleepwalking into a very scary future in Europe.

AgainstTheGlock · 10/03/2016 16:39

Is it not the very epitome of irony that one is branded "right wing" for wishing to protect the rights of women, children & gays? Wink

And as I pondered over the latest kitchenaid in Bloomingdales, I couldn't help but wonder whether when critical thinking was abandoned, insults were flung without critically considering the meaning or direction of the insult.

LumelaMme · 10/03/2016 17:24

Couldn't agree more, Glock.

MariscallRoad · 10/03/2016 18:00

AgainstTheGlock and Lumela I agree too. Keep on putting your point of view with documentation so it is not deleted.

MariscallRoad · 10/03/2016 18:38

I wonder if the swimming pools in other countries have customer reviews in their websites. Here is London all do so. The pools have a have a high fee ie 10 sessions peak 35 quid; unless you are aged 60 or over or under 16 or have a disability. There are supervisors as well.

MariscallRoad · 10/03/2016 19:34

Sport I believe they can ban offenders from pools - see this news leamingtonobserver.co.uk/news/pervert-banned-from-all-swimming-pools-7655/
They can be asked to cary out unpaid community work.

Pangurban1 · 10/03/2016 21:03

Is Archbish Welby really right wing too ?

“This is one of the greatest movements of people in human history. Just enormous. And to be anxious about that is very reasonable,” he told the House magazine. “There is a tendency to say ‘those people are racist’, which is just outrageous, absolutely outrageous.

www.theguardian.com/world/2016/mar/10/reasonable-fear-colossal-migration-crisis-justin-welby-archbishop-canterbury

MariscallRoad · 10/03/2016 22:17

AgainstTheGlock the subject which I feel is important is History the National and World/European. But at GCSE level the only compulsory are
Maths
English Language
English Literature
Welsh (if you live in Wales)
Sciences (either single, double or triple science)
History and Geography are optional. It is up to the parent to encourage the child to learn History.

Limer · 10/03/2016 22:33

What's with all the deletions? Is a "sweeping statement" something that disagrees with the MN agenda? It's all getting a bit doublespeak in here.

MariscallRoad · 10/03/2016 23:08

Limer I dont know, I did not follow all posts before they were deleted. You may take a screen shot of each page so you know what is deleted.

MariscallRoad · 10/03/2016 23:21

Cambridge dictionary says that a sweeping statement is something that you say or write that is too general and that has not been carefully thought about. A sweeping statement often can hide a problem or try to keep it secret instead of dealing with it

Inkanta · 11/03/2016 07:26

We have validation from the Archbishop of Canterbury who says that it is "outrageous" to describe people who are worried about the impact of migration as racist. He recognises a "genuine fear" over the impact on housing, jobs and the NHS.

He doesn't mention the fear of Cologne type of attacks, but thank you for that Archbishop!

Woodhill · 11/03/2016 08:34

shame someone didn't say that years ago rather than making the indigenous population feel bad if they were critical of government policy.

Twinsareplenty · 11/03/2016 08:40

In all honesty I'm amazed the mainstream media have actually given the Archbishop's comments any airtime at all - it goes completely against what we are usually fed.

LumelaMme · 11/03/2016 09:02

I was very glad to hear what Justin Welby had to say: he was all over Radio 4 this morning.
