Conservative Carswell defects to UKIP

Isitmebut · 28/08/2014 13:46

Modernizer Carwell won the new Clacton seat in 2010 with a large majority, heavily influenced by Ukip deciding not to stand a candidate themselves – so he has found a natural home with those that have a totally anti EU stance, but seems to forget that Ukip without a parliamentary majority cannot change British law to bring us out.

Claig …… after all your rants about right wing ‘modernizers’, you now own another one – so time for you to ‘jump’ the other way? lol

P.S. His defection was hardly cold, but by 1.30pm Wikipedia had been changed to reflect his defection. Who do you think was in a hurry to reflect his move, Ukip or the Conservatives? lol

"Of course not all of them go into politics, lots of them are in the media, in the BBC, in charidees, in think tanks, in social market foundations and in PR spin companies etc."

But you won't find hardly any of them in industry and manufacturing. That's work and there are few perks.

What happened to our great Labour Party? People like Keir Hardie, Aneurin Bevan - towering figures who made history.

How did we end up with PPEs like Purnell instead of miners, union people, working people?

How did the Establishment take over Labour? Was it through the PPEs?

claig · 31/08/2014 09:10

The day that UKIP is full of PPEs is the day to stop voting for them because then you will know that the game is up and at the table of the Establishment they all sup.

Yes this is a Labour Party rag but this is UKIP in their own words.... Essential reading.

Thanks Claig btw for the defence - who knew we would be brought together Wink

rf241 · 31/08/2014 09:17

Ok so I don't know how to hyperlink it!

claig · 31/08/2014 09:22

www.newstatesman.com/politics/2013/02/ukip-party-bigots-lets-look-evidence

Labour are terrified of UKIP because UKIP are now more popular among the working class than Labour because Labour long ago moved away from representing working people. Purnell shows how far Labour moved from the working class.

'who knew we would be brought together'

We are all on teh same side. We all want a better country. There is no divide apart from the one created by the Establishment's media (which includes Labour's media). We just have different ideas of the best ways to achieve it.

To hyperlink enter [ twice then paste the link then enter ] twice

rf241 · 31/08/2014 09:29

Thanks for hyper linking it ...

Now aside from labour being worried about UKIP, the article contains so many problematic statements and positions... Not made up, just collated. Sobering stuff surely?

claig · 31/08/2014 09:33

Have you got an example?

rf241 · 31/08/2014 09:43

The article is full
Of them. Off swimming with baby but will summarise when back!

claig · 31/08/2014 09:44

OK, have a great day Smile

"Cameron faces Ukip by-election bloodbath: Party set to win first Commons seat after shock poll reveals Farage's staggering 44-point lead over the Tories
Ukip set to win first Commons seat with a landslide 64 per cent of the vote"

Go on Essex! Grin

claig · 31/08/2014 09:53

"A massive 48% swing - the biggest in post-war history"

Grin

The luvvies haven't got a clue what people really think!

claig · 31/08/2014 09:56

Tory chiefs plan to flood the seaside constituency with Ministers and MPs in an attempt to hold back Carswell’s tidal wave of support.

But the poll suggests it may be impossible. Mr Carswell’s lead means the Tories will need a miracle to retain the seat and stop him becoming Ukip’s first MP."

claig · 31/08/2014 09:59

'Even charismatic Boris Johnson would have little chance of defeating strait-laced Mr Carswell.

According to the Survation poll, the London Mayor would win 27 per cent against Mr Carswell’s 60, cutting Ukip’s lead by 11. But it would still leave Boris with a yawning 33 point deficit.'

claig · 31/08/2014 10:05

"This really IS a political earthquake, writes Damian Lyons Lowe, chief executive of poll firm Survation

Political earthquake is an expression often used without justification, but not in the case of our Clacton poll result.

It shows that the by-election triggered by sitting Conservative MP Douglas Carswell’s defection to Ukip could go down in British political history as one of the most dramatic of all time.

...

It has alarming implications for David Cameron and the Conservatives.

They will need their best Oxbridge media spinners to get out of this one. The PPEs will now have to pay the Establishment back for giving them a leg up. The PPEs will have to earn their keep, they're up to their necks in the deep.

claig · 31/08/2014 10:32

Their best spinners will probably start calling the people racist. That's their usual trick.

But the more they call the people racist, the heavier they will lose.

They've shot their bolt, their game is grinding to a halt.
There are no arrows left in their quiver, how on earth will their PPEs deliver?

claig · 31/08/2014 11:13

Wow!

Our best journalist, Peter Hitchens, surpasses himself yet again in the Mail on Sunday.

Another devastating article.

"If Dave and his pals are our 'clever elite' why does Nigel make them look so stupid?"

"The only interesting things about Douglas Carswell’s switch from the Tory Party to Ukip are that it took him so long and that he has acted alone. Any thinking person has been able to see for years that the Tory Party hates conservatives. It is a roadblock, not a road, championing the elite against the people.

It is kept in being only by the BBC and various dodgy billionaires, who provide it with airtime and money out of all proportion to its real support. It has no actual aims except office at all costs.

It has no actual policies either, only negative smear campaigns, falsely portraying Ukip as mad Nazis, or Ed Miliband as some kind of Trotskyist loony.

The party leader has never pretended to be anything other than he is – the heir to Blair. That is why so much of the Left-wing media prefer David Cameron to Ed Miliband.

Mr Cameron’s promise of a referendum on EU membership is worthless three times over. First, nobody can rely on his word after his broken promise to hold a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.

Second, Mr Cameron could not win a Westminster majority in 2010, and there is even less chance of his doing so next May, as he well knows. He could promise paradise and be sure he would never have to deliver it.

...

Brussels distributed more than £300?million of taxpayers’ money in Ukraine between 2007 and 2013. It went to all kinds of lucky recipients, so it is no great surprise that Kiev blossomed with EU flags last winter during the violent mob putsch which so many idiots in the West supported.

They were generally the same idiots who supported the ‘Arab Spring’, and so helped plunge Libya and Syria into a sea of blood and fire, and to launch ‘Islamic State’. Now these idiots are well on the way to starting the biggest European war since 1945, and are busy blaming Russia for having the effrontery to defend itself against this blatant aggression.

It really is time that we understood that those in charge of this country have no idea what they are doing. Even Nigel Farage has more of a clue about how the world works than our supposedly clever elite.

And yet those who could make a difference still cling to the Tory nurse for fear of finding something worse. Well, what could be worse than bankruptcy, uncontrolled mass immigration and war?"

It was just about to link to Hitchins article myself Claig. What a complete and utter hatchet job on poor old Dave and Hitchins is spot on with every one of his observations. Nice to see the national media sharing the same analysis of the situation that you and I gave been banging on about on here for ages now.

However I still don't think any bye election victory would be repeated at the GE

claig · 31/08/2014 12:07

Yes, Hitchens fantastic and independent

You may be right about the General Election, but UKIP will thrash the Tories in Clacton, Essex. They really don't stand a chance here and it is possible that their whole house of cards may collapse with the shock of that defeat and other areas of the country may take heart and vote UKIP too.

It is a shame that UKIP aren't targetting every single seat in Essex, because the Tories would be vulnerable in every single one of them.

claig · 31/08/2014 12:17

They have just elected the Polish hawk, Donald Tusk, to be the new President of Europe and all the puppets in the EU are banging the war drums over Russia.

It looks like our media and their PPEs are full square behind the drive to war. Let''s see what the people say in May's General Election.

WetAugust · 31/08/2014 12:46

The EU clamour for war against Russia frightens me much more than Dave's ISIS threat or Ebola. It frightens me because the anti is being upped by EU Commissioners some of whom represent countries that are just afterthoughts on the world stage and who have no democratic right whatsoever to lead the EU into war by unelected petty commissars.

They can call for war knowing the countries they represent have no means to fight a war and rely on EU members such as the UK to do that within this wonderful EU they have created.

We need to resist. The only way to save this country from being led into a war with Russia is to get out of the EU. Only from the outside can we save ourselves and exercise our role within NATO by refusing to commit any NATO UK provided assistance to this dangerous adventure.

The EU created this mess by encouraging Ukraine to seek EU membership

So much fir the EU being an instrument of peace. Total bollocks

claig · 31/08/2014 12:57

Absolutely.

Of course the end result of all this warmongering will eventually spell the end of the EU as people all over Europe have enough of the spin and vote all the spinners out.

WetAugust · 31/08/2014 13:20

I am getting increasingly worried about he EUs actions as I listen to R4 World this a Weekend

The EU man interviewed says it will support and protect Ukraine and considers it has grounds for intervention. It's going to station troops on the border and these troops can be committed by the EU without having to seek agreement from the national Govt the troops are from

We should be very very worried about this escalation

The EU is acting like a toddler that has just been handed a nuclear button to play with.
