A new thread following on from the previous one in Chat here

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 16/11/2014 12:48

thanks.

they also give licence to the less powerful to carry on with their abuses too though.

the judge who says the 9yo looked older than she was or the 11yo was sexually precocious and let's the adult men off or gives them paltry sentences gives out the licence to continue.

and more directly in these cases coming out we see the humble care worker is allowed to rape and beat with impunity as it suits the purposes of those who he is supplying with children.

they decide the sentences, who has a voice and who doesn't, what is a priority and what isn't, who can or can't rise to influence ensuring things don't change etc.

claig · 16/11/2014 12:48

FiloFunky, that thread has gone. Probably because it started in Chat and I think they only last for 90 days or something in Chat.

TheHoneyBadger · 16/11/2014 12:51

the expenses scandal IS relevant here because whilst the crimes are different it spells out loudly that the exact same culture of untouchability and being a class above the law is alive and well and that as a class they will protect each other to the hilt.

it spells out loud and clear the contempt with which those outside of that class are viewed. cheat £20 on benefits you're a criminal, scam tens of thousands as an MP and the worst that might happen is having to resign.

we really, really need to get rid of this elitist crap that sees some people above the law and able to make the law! that's clearly a dangerous cocktail.

Suzannewithaplan · 16/11/2014 12:55

point made by TH White is that roughly 10 people will "see through" things, 9 of those will be motivated to use their insights into power structures to manipulate things to serve their own ends, only 1 is inherently 'good' and he will always be overpowered and out numbered by those who are self serving.

Even if the 90% wake up and see whats going on 90% of them will act out of self interest

TheHoneyBadger · 16/11/2014 12:59

when you think about it if you were operating as a 'class' and that class was your key interest and identity focus then you wouldn't care who wore blue and who wore red so long as you maintained your class position. we now have a situation where all political parties are being run by that same class and all have their own interest at heart.

it becomes pointless to be labour or tory or ukip or whatever in a system like that.

these rapists and sadists were of all party poliitical backgrounds. that was their day job uniform not who they were or what they stood for. now whether it's raping children or making millions from backhanders and pleasing your pals in business or fiddling your expenses, the reality of their true tribe coming ahead of anything else and needing to be protected above anything else is spelled out loud and clear.

we have it proved to us over and over again that these are not people to be entrusted with responsibility and they are not people who give a shit about anyone but themselves - no value, taboo, age group, whatever comes above their self interest.

the question is what do you do? and with this farce of trying to get an inquiry of the ground it is so bloody obvious that there is nowhere to turn for neutrality or independence because this one interest group has it fingers in EVERYTHING.

sorry i will shut up but it's hard today.

TheHoneyBadger · 16/11/2014 13:01

suzanne - so it becomes about survival. if you can see and you don't want the dirt on your hands or to be ripped apart for pointing at the emporer's new clothes you find a quiet way to survive.

claig · 16/11/2014 13:05

"Even if the 90% wake up and see whats going on 90% of them will act out of self interest"

But isn't it in the interests of the 90% not to be ripped off and run by the knaves who fool them, take them into wars, spin them and impoverish them?

They had an Estonian or Latvian EU MEP on the Daily Politics a few years ago and what he said was enlightening. He said something like he couldn't believe the expenses and perks that the EU gave - far, far more than national governments and often without any need for receipts etc. He said he quickly realised that if he took the expenses that they were throwing at him, that he would then just be a pawn, a puppet. He would have to go along and do as he was told. Whenever they felt like it, they would be able to tell the Press about his expenses and that would be bad for him. So he refused to take the expenses without receipts or the flight allowances or whatever it was.

The gang compromises its members, it sucks them in, it hooks them and reels them in. Then they have to do as they are told. They are then just puppets of the gang.

TheHoneyBadger · 16/11/2014 13:12

i will sound like a raving loony but i am now self employed working from home, my son is no longer sent to school and i despite qualifications and skills and incentives i no longer want to be drawn back into any of the systems or institutions.

opportunities for funding to do your phd and get to study the thing you're fascinated by and think could do real good? no, don't get sucked in, if it really is for good then it's not going anywhere and in the meantime soul drain and depression of being caught back into the madness of how the institutions work and what they value and reward and what true values underpin them.

i have given up on collective movements to be honest - might agree with several but don't see a solution offered by any of them or a sustained ability to stick to their values (probably due to that evaluation of the breakdown of one hundred people and how people will always fall into their roles - who knows).

i think the 'establishment' or the status quo is so so so established that it becomes unshakable. i can well understand victims not coming forward and having no faith when they do that anything will be done. the system isn't about justice or what's best or any other of that - it's about maintaining the status quo and keeping power where it is. every institution is run by that core value and i don't want any part of it.

right that's my confessional and if it makes me a raving loon i don't care. it's fucked. they don't giving a flying fuck. it's not about knowing it's about not giving a shit. whether that be education, family, the nhs, palestinians, whatever. they don't give a shit and they hold the cards and 90% of people don't even care.

claig · 16/11/2014 13:25

TheHoneyBadger, don't give up, then they will win. They don't give a shit but we do. Theyare reeling on lots of fronts at the moment. The tiny clique is under pressure. Former police officers are coming out and saying they were told to drop cases, former reporters go on TV and say that they were pushed against a wall and told to drop it, victims are talking and they won't shut up.

All the old norms are being challenged.

Our institutions are not all bad. Remember they are out institutions, it is our country. We can fix what is wrong.

There are good MPs - Tom Watson, John Mann, Simon Danczuk, Barbara Castle, Geoffrey Dickens. There are millions of good people and the gang is tiny in comparison.

Study for a PhD. Everything we do will lead to making things better.

noddyholder · 16/11/2014 16:18

I think the internet and social media is going to be the undoing of the establishment but it won't happen overnight. Things which have had the majority crying 'conspiracy theory' are gradually being proved. Lots of people will be worried now about that knock on the door and I think we haven't seen even the tip of the iceberg of this. Jill Dando was investigating this and planning her own documentary on it and look what happened to her

GarlicNovember · 16/11/2014 18:11

Like noddy and claig, I do believe there are enough good, sane people. Many are being very, very brave, and deserve our support. The odd tweet's appreciated. We can also sign & share petitions, keep putting the news out there, and (obviously) pull people up if they make ignorant comments. It's a little bit harder to brush corruption under the carpet these days.

Gatheringthoughtstothink · 16/11/2014 23:13

I am pleased that there is more of a culture to support people, makes them more able to speak out, and really be heard.
It won't ever make up for being let down by professionals who in some cases were being paid to safeguard them, when even those that shouted loudest were not listened to or believed, they were silenced by various abusers of power.
Someone posted about the Nottingham case, looks very much as though they are trying to silence her.
I'm glad she has the strength and support to fight for her voice to be heard.

claig · 17/11/2014 09:11

The Mirror has been an excellent paper on Savile and all the rest of this disgusting stuff. Here is another of their great articles. Let's hope they keep the pressure up.

"MP who exposed suspected Westminster paedophile ring feared he was on a "hit list"

Tory Geoffrey Dickens was so afraid for his life that he hid copies of his damning files in a “safe place”

An MP feared he was on a ‘hit list’ after drawing up a dossier that threatened to expose a suspected Westminster paedophile ring, a close friend has claimed

Tory Geoffrey Dickens was so afraid he hid copies of his damning files – naming eight public figures suspected of child abuse – in a “safe place”.

The MP also told Geoff Hope he had a secret alliance with former Labour minister Barbara Castle, who had her own dossier naming 16 MPs and Lords.

Both politicians’ claims are at the heart of a public inquiry and police investigation into allegations of child sex abuse at Westminster in 70s and 80s.

The late Mr Dickens handed the then Home Secretary Leon Brittan his dossier in 1983. It has since gone missing.

Mr Hope, 83, has decided to speak out after being disgusted by the Wanless Report, a Home Office inquiry that has failed to locate the documents.

He said: “Geoffrey feared repercussions for his family and friends. He said he had names that would ‘blow the roof off Westminster’.”

Mr Hope ran a service station near Mr Dickens’ constituency home and was a family friend. He said the MP came in with his dossier in the 80s.

“He used to pop in on Saturdays for a chat,” said Mr Hope. “This time he had a document case. I jokingly asked if it was full of money but he said it was his research into paedophiles.

“He said MPs, people in the church, and in other high places were involved.

“He told me he was worried for his own welfare and would be worried for my safety if he showed me the contents.

“I said he could use my photocopier to make a copy to keep safe, but he said he’d already done it. I told him to go to Scotland Yard but he thought the Met and Special Branch had been infiltrated by them.”

Mr Hope said the MP for Littleborough and Saddleworth in Greater Manchester told him he believed he was on a “hit list”.

"Charles Napier admits string of historic sex offences against boys

Half-brother of senior Conservative MP John Whittingdale pleads guilty at Southwark Crown Court to historic sex offences involving 21 boys"
...
Napier was former treasurer of the Paedophile Information Exchange which campaigned in the 70s and 80s for what they called the age of 'child love' to be reduced to four.

He also has links to Peter Righton - one of Britain's most high-profile paedophiles.
...
Napier has lived in Sweden and worked for the British council in Cairo and is a respected playwright and theatre director."

He boasted of easy access to young boys and how he could send obscene images back to Britain in diplomatic bags. Angry

cupofsneeze · 19/11/2014 09:41

I'm not sure if anyones already posted this link to the Telegraph regarding the disappearance and murder of little Vishal Mehrotra and a potential link to Elm Guest house but its the top story today.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/11239535/Father-claims-Scotland-Yard-covered-up-sons-murder-by-Westminster-paedophiles.html

claig · 19/11/2014 10:02

cupofsneeze, I heard this on the news this morning. But that article gives more information. Terrible. I hope the families can see justice done and people are brought to trial over this.

WhistlingPot · 19/11/2014 11:32

That's just stomach churning. The poor boy and family.

cupofsneeze · 19/11/2014 11:33

Claig I read the massive thread on the Di site when Saville was outed and i'm sure some of the posters had linked the disappearance of Vishal and Martin Allen to Elm Guest house way back over a year ago Shock

Its all so horrific, I cant see the truth ever being disclosed other than by social networking and then conveniently labelled conspiracy theories Sad

Suzannewithaplan · 19/11/2014 11:45

I dunno if it will be so easy to dismiss cupofsneeze, the grim horror of cyril smith and jimmy saville, the mainstream media have played a big part in fixing images of these men into the public consciousness and linking them to stories of sickening depravity.

The Uber conspiracist David Ike, once laughed at but now (sort of) vindicated, is similarly fixed in all our minds.
Who knows what will happen? ?

GarlicNovember · 19/11/2014 16:39

Congratulations to Birmingham Social Services and Mr Justice Keehan, who have innovatively used a civil injunction to bar 2 known child exploiters from approaching “any female under 18” in public places with whom they were not personally associated.

It's a strong step in a good direction.

GarlicNovember · 20/11/2014 10:55

Simon Danczuk tweeted 10 mins ago:
"Leader of House has confirmed, in chamber now, debate on progress with child sex abuse inquiry to be on Thursday. Pleased to secure this."

cupofsneeze · 20/11/2014 12:31

I wonder how many of them will bother to turn up for it.

The DM are reporting more on Elm Guest House today and other potential victims. It just keeps getting worse Sad

"Meanwhile, detective Jackie Malton, who worked on the original case, told the Daily Telegraph she had a feeling of 'misuse of power' during her time at Scotland Yard.

Miss Malton, a former detective chief inspector and the inspiration for the Prime Suspect TV drama series, said: 'There is clear evidence that something was happening at that guest house.

'If nothing has been done about it in retrospect, then Mr Mehrotra is right. Either the police disbelieved it, or they covered it up one way or another.

'I do remember that the officers were highly passionate about the Mehrotra case, but for some reason we never managed to get anywhere.'

She added: 'There was also a strong sense of the power of Parliament and of politicians. It was very much a case of 'Do as you are told.'

Yes, it keeps getting worse and worse.
