For all of you who don't understand the disgust with the Daily Mail...

Spero · 02/01/2014 17:57

I have just been told they have published an article about John Hemming in which they name me. Both my real name and my user name.

Luckily for me I don't care. Luckily for me I decided long ago I would never put anything on line that I would be ashamed/upset/frightened for anyone else to read.

But for lots of people this would be a complete and utter disaster. People post really personal and sensitive stuff on this site about the worst times of their lives, looking for help and support. They must know that.

Note that they never bothered contacting me to find out which category I fell into.

So if anyone wants to start another wide eyed innocent thread - o I just don't understand why you all hate the Daily Mail so much!

Does this kind of thing help you understand a little more?

I will link to the scum bags but only because I hope people might leave some 'helpful' comments about JH.

NO idea. I doubt it was given any thought. Your name was out there and it's not breaking any rules. it makes it more of a 'complete' story perhaps.

Not suggesting YOU are paranoid rather the notion that JH and DM are in league together.

gertrudetrain · 03/01/2014 20:21

WTAF?! It's easy to bandy about the paranoia label when it's not your name, profession and username published in the same article. spero has repeatedly said its not about her. It's the general implied threat that they will do it because they can and they might just do it to anyone.

They don't have to be 'in league' for them to want to chuck him a bone.

There is a middle ground between never speaking and spending lots of time together in darkened rooms wearing a fedora hat.

He is an amazing source of the kind of delusional crap that the Mail loves. Maybe they do want to keep him sweet.

I have nothing to hide. But I would be horrified if my name and MN nickname were published in a national newspaper.

Nancy66 · 03/01/2014 20:34

nah, don't buy it. it's a shit story ( in news terms) that would never have made paper at any other time of year.

Spero · 03/01/2014 20:37

that says it all about the appalling quality of journalism now. The 'real' story is the damage he does to vulnerable people by feeding them his outrageous conspiracy stories.

But no one is ever interested in this.

But hey, so long as he isn't an MP for very much longer, I don't particularly care what pushes him out.

OP posts:
MadameDefarge · 03/01/2014 20:41

the story is JH breaching a court order. Not a shit story a very pertinent one. Maybe its shit for the DM, but for the rest of the world it does matter.

Nancy do you know anything about JH and his state kidnapping to order rants against family courts and social care?

MadameDefarge · 03/01/2014 20:49

it doesn't really work that way lake.

MadameDefarge · 03/01/2014 20:50

they did it because they could. and because they are bastards.

MurderOfGoths · 03/01/2014 20:53

Nancy isn't a sock puppet, and suspect from what I know of her that's she's not one of JH's tin foil hat wearing buddies Grin Just has a different perspective on the way things get reported

Nancy66 · 03/01/2014 20:58

Gertrude - I know what I've read on here

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 03/01/2014 20:59

Nancy, I'm assuming you mean MP banned from mn is a shit story rather than MP publishes confidential legal documents on mumsnet?

PacificDogwood · 03/01/2014 21:03
Biscuit

I am not sure what else there is to say to anybody who does not understand that the potential of outing an 'anonymous' forum uses in RL could be threatening to some vulnerable posters?

And aside from that obvious issue, there is rather much bigger issue of misinformation and scaremongering accusations being made by prominent figures without backing them up with facts or any accountability.

If we as a society feel we have an obligations to look out for people in vulnerable positions (children come to mind), we MUST object to that kind of immoral, vile behaviour.

Nancy66 · 03/01/2014 21:16

beyond - actually I'd say neither would particularly excite a news editor during a normal, busy news day.

Spero · 03/01/2014 21:20

Then we can see why the print media is dying.

News editors need to get more of a handle on what people want to read about.

O wait. Its a bit late for that isn't it? As now we have the internet and the print media plays catch up. good luck with that.

OP posts:
Nancy66 · 03/01/2014 21:39

Nothing to do with why the print media is dying!

And news editors have a pretty good handle on what people want to read. They tend to get the sack if they don't

Spero · 03/01/2014 21:40

Obviously Nancy I can't argue with someone as well informed as you.

OP posts:
PacificDogwood · 03/01/2014 21:45

What people want to read is not always what they need to know though.

Lowest common denominator, anyone?

I do not expect Grazia to run this story anytime soon btw.

MadameDefarge · 03/01/2014 21:52

I have Take a Break on line one for you, Spero...

Spero · 03/01/2014 21:54

Finally! the quality papers. Anything to take the stench of the Mail out of my nostrils.

At least Take a Break doesn't pretend to be anything other than a sensationalist comic.

OP posts:
CarpeVinum · 03/01/2014 21:55

Dear Daily Mail,

You could have at least pointed out there was more than one Sarah involved.

I'm catching all of Spero's new anti- fan's explosive outrage and "not exactly Sherlock" detective work about my past on twitter and forums. Grin

I have been defamed by somebody who thinks....I am somebody else.

You couldn't make this shit up.

MadameDefarge · 03/01/2014 22:02

dont engage with them Carpe, really don't. You are under no obligation to do so.
