As the other is full.
There are far too many cases where the authorities rush to remove children and do not give both parents and wider family a say. Adoption is rushed through.
The fact a senior family judge is insisting he is involved in the rest of this case is a good thing and the more cases like this which receive publicity the better.

The point is it is like justice in China and Russia. If it's secret then those involved cannot justify themselves. If we have more in the public domain that is a greater good than any risk from disclosure to the children and parents involved. it is why open justice and published judgments and rights for all those involved in child disputes to use twitter, blogs and emails and no stifling of free speech.

Thankfully things are all moving this way and we lucky to have people like JM and C Booker to give publicity to the issues which need much wider debate. I would imagine most social workers and lawyers involved in this area are very happy that the issues get more public debate not less. Most professions would.

Madame PM.

I'm off to bed now. Thank you for posting such eloquent, FACTUAL and informative posts- you all know who you are. And also transparent in responding to questions, requests for clarification in a manner that some people would be wise to learn from.

Think that particular person is glued to his phone awaiting 1000 posts because he is unwilling to stand by his beliefs and commit to them 'in writing'. What a coward. Just the kind of coward you want fighting your corner. Not.

Answer the question JH.

Talkinpeace · 06/12/2013 22:21

nenny
that may be the case, in which case WHO is driving the delays?
why can confirmation / plead gulity / sentence not all be done in ONE batch or ten minutes?
remember that a prisoner on remand involves £1000 per hour of police resources
the parking fees alone of getting witnesses in on multiple days are a waste of money
these were not "adjournements" but planned parts of the system that should be combined.
THe police were actually pretty hacked at me that my report covered every aspect in 4 pages of A4 with spreadsheets
they wanted to "investigate further"and when challenged on "why" dragged their heels for 5 months before charging

sorry but I was utterly utterly unimpressed by the monopolistic unaccountable attitude of the system

and even more unimpresed by fuckwit politicians btw

Spero · 06/12/2013 22:25

Whenever I have a family case involving a client in custody we are inevitably delayed for hours because the prison van doesn't arrive until noon, or goes to the wrong court or similar.

Perhaps something like that is happening?

Because criminal lawyers getting a fixed fee of £40 are really not keen on schlepping around to mags court at arse end of no where to get adjourned.

If you want to have a pop at lawyers, the criminal lawyers are not your most compelling target.

I have a very good friend who is a human rights lawyer, and his speciality is taking the police to court.

The amount of time wasting he has to go through is astounding. Not to say he thinks all his clients have a full portion of sandwiches, but his job is to fight their case in court.

He does a bloody good job.

Because he actually cares.

Yes MaryZ. The more info an adopted child has about their birth family, seems to calm down the I have no idea where I come from anxiety. And therefore lessens the need for contact. Not that contact is not there for them, but lessens their need to find some unknown birth situation.

Mignonette · 06/12/2013 22:36

Madame They've been emailed. Good night all.

Its odd isn't Maryz. In my own family, we are very aware of the child adopted 25 odd years. ago. and would be thrilled to know her. But it is her decision. We can only surmise that she is happy and settled with her family and has no need for extras. I do get that. And wish her the best.

Is that not the best outcome? I think it must be.

Unless there are medical issues that need addressing, I think it must be the happiest outcome that adoptive dcs don't feel the need the fill some empty part of their souls, because, with the information they have, those empty parts don't exist. Which has to be the best outcome, emotionally.

I can't speak as an adoptive parent, but as a parent who is split from ds'dad. I do feel those lacks.

which is why I support all contact with him despite his numerous failings.
Not for ds to know until he is an adult. (no child support for ten years anyone??!!!)

Spero · 06/12/2013 22:54

Just made mistake of wading through comments on Carl Gardner post to find that IJ is boasting he takes on 3 or 4 cases each day and thus 'helps' 1000s of people a year...

MadameDefarge · 06/12/2013 22:55

shall we collectively build a rather pretty MN wall for all of us to bang our heads against?

I vote for taupe. No twigs and shit.

Lovely look.

I would urge Claig to understand that her fave newspaper are not babes in the wood willing to change their story as more facts emerge.

All the fact that have emerged were available to both the informers of the story and the DM itself. Before publication.

Clearly the DM legal department felt they could get away with this travesty of reporting.

This in itself demands real scrutiny.

Spero · 06/12/2013 23:37

I agree with maryz. It is clear why IJ and JH don't want to accept emotional abuse exists as IJ directly and JH by association are urging people to inflict the most disgusting emotional trauma on children who have already been through the mill.

I think a lot of people in the system seem to think if we just ignore them they will go away and they are just silly little men. But if IJ really is 'helping' 1000s of families every year to hide sexual abuse occurring in their homes then he is very dangerous and surely his behaviour must be crossing boundary into the criminal sphere?

Surely he is aiding and abetting paedophiles or could be seen to conspire with them?

MadameDefarge · 06/12/2013 23:47

And another deletion which was not a personal attack nor against MN guidelines.

If you think my posts jeapordise mn in Law, have the decency to tell me. Not just delete willy nilly.

MadameDefarge · 06/12/2013 23:58

You deleted my for sayinng JHs reputation was in tatters in Westminster, within his constituency and on MN?

REALLY?

MadameDefarge · 06/12/2013 23:59

I now allege that John Hemming's reputation is in tatters in Westminster, and within his constituency and on Mumsnet.

Better?
