johnhemming.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/james-savile-and-ssda903.html trying to find more info mrcrumps. where did you read/hear this?

swallowedAfly · 13/11/2012 18:53

"Children's rights lawyer Mitchell Woolf comments: 'there are a number of children who get lost in the care system, where social services move them several times and then just forget where they are. I've seen it quite a number of times. A social worker leaves, no social worker replaces them, the child is in a different authority, and they get lost to the care system. It's shocking how often it happens.'"

from here

i want to think i'm not reading that right but i don't think i am.

Mrcrumpswife · 13/11/2012 18:59

It was the question he asked in parliament today. I kept having to rewind itGrin

Dont they type them up at some point for public record?

Mrcrumpswife · 13/11/2012 19:05

i want to think i'm not reading that right but i don't think i am.

I hope we are both reading it wrong but i dont think soSad

swallowedAfly · 13/11/2012 19:08

i can't find numbers anywhere but lots of articles around june this year where the issue was highlighted in the wake of the rochdale stuff.

AnyaKnowIt · 13/11/2012 19:10

Swallowed - My auntie was a foster carer, she had a young teenager living with her that SS forgot she was placed there. Took about a month to sort out iirc.

Also Steve Messham Plea to other victims to come forward My heart goes out to him more and more Sad

Mrcrumpswife · 13/11/2012 19:32

JH managed to get questions in about Jersey HDLG aswell. I wish he would pop up here.

Everytime he comes to mumsnet he gets ripped apart. It would be nice to ask him some questions now i understand what he is trying to do and why.

AnyaKnowIt · 13/11/2012 19:37

You could pm him?

Mrcrumpswife · 13/11/2012 19:43

I hadnt thought of that! He hasnt been on here since the last onslaught.

Do you think its worth it or would he attract those with another agenda from other boards?

ssd · 13/11/2012 19:44

who is JH?

AnyaKnowIt · 13/11/2012 19:47

John Hemming MP

Mrcrumpswife · 13/11/2012 19:49

John Hemming MP. He put a lot of very good points out there to the few that bothered attending the HOP today. At least it is all on record. He wants a super inquiry like the one thats just been called in Australia.

It seemed to be a common theme for those who turned up.

He mentioned Steve Syvret several times and how the system is failing so badly over in Jersey.

It all feels as though no one is listening. Hardly anyone was there which just shows that child protection is very low on the list of priorities for MPs.

claig · 13/11/2012 19:54

Mrcrumpswife, I agree with you. I am sure JH reads these threads, but may not wish to comment at the moment, I don't know.

Such a shame that the House of Commons was nowhere near full for that debate.

I hope that other victims won't be put off coming forward after the treatment of Steve Messham in the Mail on Sunday and the comments that called him a "weirdo". I hope he knows that the whole country is with him in seeking justice.

AnyaKnowIt · 13/11/2012 19:56

He was the one that broke the Ryan Giggs super injunction

ssd · 13/11/2012 20:04

why on earth did he get a mauling on MN, did he not kiss arse enough for some?

Mrcrumpswife · 13/11/2012 20:08

I think a lot of SW are on the boards who dont take kindly to someone saying the system doesnt work. He is normally accused of putting people off going to the SS for help by filling their heads with negative stories about shit practices in some childrens services.

Bit ironic when you look at whats happening now!

AnyaKnowIt · 13/11/2012 20:09

I think its to do with the fact that he thinks SW are baby snatchers who just go round to find babies for nice middle class families to adopt.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/in_the_news/914558-Baby-joy-for-couple-forced-to-flee-the-ss

I guess i'm allowed to post an old thread if its not to comment on now?

Will give you a feel of his views and what he was saying and why it was badly received.

Mrcrumpswife · 13/11/2012 20:39

Heres the transcript of todays questions in Parliament. JH is on there.

My mixed race husband is now in his fifties and as a teen was placed in numerous care homes and youth detention centers. Prior to his crime spree (nothing sinister may I add) he was raised in a notorious racist area and experienced 'chase and kill the nigger' along with daily bashing on the way home from school. Puberty arrived and he became violent, angry fighting back and getting into all sorts of trouble.
Briefly in the past he mentioned about his stints in children's homes and youth detention centers and how these places were rife with abusers and violence but it wasn't until the Saville saga did I think to actually inquire more.
He recalls in one particular home the same handful of children would occasionally be taken out for the day/night and instead of coming back pleased with themselves, they'd arrive back subdued with one particular boy crying that he wanted his mum. This of course could be entirely innocent but he is adamant that boys were sexually abused in these homes.
He often got bashed up and punched by either care workers or 'screws' depending where he was, but sexually the black children including him would be left alone. This unfortunately gave rise to him and his friends calling certain other children 'batty boys'. (Yes kids can be horrible).
In one youth detention center he claimed the odd flash car would pull up at around 9.30 pm and the odd child would be out of the dorm for the night. In this particular incident a brand new Granada showed up and he and his friends planned to take it for a joy ride. The police were called, they were then gathered up and locked in a room. The smart looking owner of the car was pacing up and down and grabbed them in a head lock and started punching them while at the same time calling them 'fucking jungle bunnies' in front of the police officer but what was very poignant for him was the next day their had been no report made, nothing logged and no discussion when normally it would have been a different story.
When I asked how he can be sure they were abused, he looked at me in amazement saying 'come on, we all knew it went on'.
Unfortunately he thinks I'm being incredibly naive in thinking the new inquiries will bring justice for the survivors.

AnyaKnowIt · 13/11/2012 20:58

nameswinger1 Sad

Mrcrumpswife · 13/11/2012 21:12

nameswinger thats so sad.

DC3s Dad was in one of the care homes affected by abuse in Leicester. He was so very damaged that i could only stay with him for 7 years. He was adamant no one laid a finger on him as he would have battered them but i'm not so sure.

I wonder if my own past and his combined was just a toxic mix.

swallowedAfly · 13/11/2012 21:19

horrific nameswinger. yet clearly not rare or unusual - utterly matter of fact to the reality he grew up in there Sad and that's when you can call something institutionalised i guess - when it is the norm and fabric of the culture of the institution in such a way as those there don't think it remarkable and know to look the other way because that's how it is?

i hope adulthood has treated your dh far better.

swallowedAfly · 13/11/2012 21:19
