The nation boos at the Tory scum:

OP posts:
SmellyFartado · 04/09/2012 13:07

Have only just seen this and I am absolutely delighted that he was booed. Yes, we have to reduce the country's deficit and he's never going to be popular in cutting benefits, spending, etc but the sheer number of ill thought out policies and amount of U turns deriving from the April budget shows just how out of touch this Coalition Government are and he fully deserved to be booed as a result.

I have written to the Treasury a number of times since April on what is a clear discrepancy in one of their proposed policies yet they simply do not want to know. It is this arrogance and the sheer hypocrisy shown by key figures in this government that makes me proud of each and every person that booed Osbourne at the Paraolympics. Am only sorry I wasn't there myself to join in

CrikeyOHare · 04/09/2012 13:07

If this was anywhere else, I would have said the crowd reaction was childish & inappropriate.

But, for crying out loud, what the fuck was this particular man doing at the Paralympics? Of all the people who could have gone, the government sent the man who's just cut disability benefits?

The hypocrisy is quite startling.

Thumbwitch · 04/09/2012 13:11

I agree wannabe - he shouldn't have been there in the first place; but since he was, the crowd's reaction was not only understandable but completely deserved. I expect even the medallists would have liked to join in if they were completely aware of who and what the little toerag is. A good job there weren't any British medallists in that award, really.

threesocksmorgan · 04/09/2012 13:16

OrangeandGoldMrsDeVere you are so right, even the media have done this ot an extent.

crikey It's a joke isn't it? This govt is actually beyond parody!

"My issue is that by putting him in that position in the first place has escalated our internal politics on to an international stage"

I don't know if I agree with that, it's a struggle to get people in this country to sit up and take note of what is going on, maybe letting the rest of the world see it might force people here to open their eyes.

Nagoo · 04/09/2012 13:38

It was brilliant.

I was there, the atmosphere was amazing, we would have cheered a clapping toy monkey.

When GO appeared the boo-ing was loud and spontaneous Grin The minute he was off screen the cheering resumed.

It was a moment for sure Grin

There was a tweet made me laugh: why did 80,000 people boo George Osbourn? Because that is the capacity of the Olympic Stadium

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 04/09/2012 13:39

Hilarious, much needed and, sadly, probably won't make a flying fuck's worth of difference to policy.

As someone says upthread, he could easily get the last laugh by making even more cuts.

Someone ought to have just taken him out with a javelin/discus/hammer/anything.

Nagoo · 04/09/2012 13:47

imogen it wasn't longer because we didn't want to ruin the moment of the man presenting the flowers. He looked nice Grin

WillSantaComeAgain · 04/09/2012 13:55

Anyone ever actually been booed by a crowd? Believe me, if you had, you would not wish it on anyone. Ever.

Worst side of MN coming out in this thread. Shame on you.

Thumbwitch · 04/09/2012 13:56

Rubbish. Shame on Osborne and his cronies for creating a situation where people felt the need to boo him for his bastard attitude to the very people he was supposed to be there handing out medals to.

PallySally · 04/09/2012 13:58

Why did a crowd boo you, WillSantaComeAgain?

DisabilEightiesChick · 04/09/2012 13:59

If I took money from the needy and vulnerable I would deserve every boo a crowd gave me, as does Osborne. I'm sure his massive personal wealth and position of immense power will comfort him amid the trauma.

FrothyOM · 04/09/2012 14:00

An unashamed Grin

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/09/2012 14:01

Osborne deserved it. I have not a shred of pity for the man.

Disgraceful - wasn't vociferous enough. Plus, all those javelins and discus lying around, opportunity missed.

BEST POST THIS WEEK

jellybeans · 04/09/2012 14:05

hahaha brilliant. Still can't get over that pic of him at the lunch club-hilarious! get this crappy Gov out asap they are beyond a sick joke.

TellMeLater · 04/09/2012 14:08

Thanks for the link - agree it won't make a hair of a difference but Gideon (and Gove) are hateful bastards and I feel overjoyed that he has had to face up to what a shit he is, even if the humiliation only lasted for a few seconds.

Vagaceratops · 04/09/2012 14:10

By being sent along I hope he also felt a pinch of the embarrassment and humiliation that Chloe Smith felt when he sends her to defend another one of his U-turns.

Matsikula · 04/09/2012 14:12

I'm going to be the lone voice of dissent here. I loathe George Osborne as much as the next person, but actually I think this is just a bit rude, and almost, almost makes me feel sorry for him.

He shouldn't have been asked to present a medal, and whatever SPAD advised him to accept should probably start looking for another job, but it made the medal ceremony about him and UK domestic policy, and not about the achievements of the people up on the podium (who were not British either, and therefore probably wondering what the hell was going on).

I wouldn't have clapped him, but I wouldn't have jeered him either. I'd be totally up for shouting at him at a demo though, or haranguing him on the street.

Matsikula · 04/09/2012 14:15

Okay, not the lone voice. WillSantaComeAgain, I am with you.

ShirleyO · 04/09/2012 14:37

"rude"?

Oh yes, heaven forfend that a member of this government who has been key in bringing in cuts that are forcing the most vulnerable in this country into crushing poverty, have to cope with people being "rude" to him.

Empusa · 04/09/2012 14:39

Being booed by a crowd vs. worrying that you can't afford to live?

Wonder where my sympathy lies...

MidnightinMoscow · 04/09/2012 14:41

I am in agreement with twelvelegged, I find it so despicable that he finds it amusing that people are booing him.

Those boo's, you utter cunt, are because you are destroying the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in society. If you think that's a laughing matter, then are even more than a wanker than I ever imagined.

Ane breath....

noddyholder · 04/09/2012 14:43
