Mumsnet in Sunday Times

I cannot link because of the firewall but saw a reference to mumsnet - article about left wing people who send children to private schools.

one couple they referred to broke up their marriage because they could not agree on state or private schooling.

(When is it right to put family ahead of principle?

Grin at 'the biggest penis gourd.'

I'm sorry for being childish but that really made me laugh especially as Xenia said it

following on from xenia's last post "There will always be someone much more successful and much less so than all of us. This is how humans are made."

the crux here is defining what we see as successful

my idea of being successful will be someone else's nightmare

I've a feeling xenia's idea of success is bound up in money and status....my idea of success is raising happy confident kids and being around for them

interesting how we all see the world so differently

Xenia · 19/08/2012 22:02

Mine is the view of most people in the country and indeed all those wanting girls from sink estates to have a chance of Oxbridge. I do not have some unique Xenia view of success. It is simply the view of this entire nation. Those with a different view probably belong in North Korea.

but do you accept the importance of the minimum wage employees?

Xenia · 19/08/2012 22:12

Not sure what you mean. When China tried to pay street sweepers and doctors the same years ago it failed. All societies need some people at the bottom, some in the middle and some at the top.

but, again, its not about salary. its about all jobs being important.

I would make a dreadful lawyer. I'm far from stupid, but am very emotional and could never ignore a clients guilt.

I would make a dreadful accountant, it bores me.

I dont want to run my own business, I am too scatty.

however, I am very good with people and at making them feel welcome. persuading them that they need extra veg/wine and mixing drinks. I am good at organising tables so that we can maximise bookings. And, I am good at making sure that people have a good time and want to come back.

it takes skill, and it is important.

exoticfruits · 19/08/2012 22:26

Of course you don't pay them all the same-you always have people at the top and the bottom. You however are equally polite to everyone and don't judge their choices -unless they are hurting others.

am moving to North Korea Grin

JugglingWithFiveRings · 19/08/2012 22:45

I think the low paid ought to be paid more, especially where they are caring for others and/or doing a professional type of job such as nursing the elderly or teaching the youngest children ( 0-4's ... yes, like I do ! )

exoticfruits · 19/08/2012 22:46

If the world was fair the carers in society would get the highest pay-sadly it isn't fair.

JugglingWithFiveRings · 19/08/2012 22:53

No, indeed. My friend who cares for his girlfriend gets much less than £100 a week - nearer to £50 IIRC. So unfair.

kimjoy · 24/08/2012 11:39

The rich are the main peeps who send ther children to pay schools. They have done it for years. And call themselves the ruling class
