Is this now a banned topic on MN?
With the new arrests, and nothing being posted, I'm assuming it is.
Fair enough if that's the decision, I'm just curious.

shesariver Well in my opinion, even if they HAD moved the body between lofts, there would have been a space open in order to do that and if you have never smelt a dead body then you wouldn't know that they leave a very characteristic odor behind and it's not one which leaves. It is strong and would still be traceable to dogs even if it were not.

those are small council houses....tightly fitted together, the dogs should have known she was up there.

lljkk · 14/08/2012 10:34

I was bringing up odour issues too & got deleted for it (holds breath, pun not intended).

A lot of terrace row houses were originally built (50+ yrs ago?) with no dividers between lofts. It's an easy route for burglars sometimes, too.

I know people are outraged about the death, but nothing about the delayed discovery of the body (in this case) seems likely to delay justice. And justice is what matters; let the police decide when & how to improve their procedures.

limitedperiodonly · 14/08/2012 10:35

So it's the dogs' fault now, is it?

tiggy that's as well....but the fact remains that for the 8 days she was missing, there were police and reporters all in and around that house. And dogs from Wednesday. HOW did they not scent the area properly?

How? It's not possible the murderer could have moved her....and then moved her back. Is it? Those reporters would have been outside all night...that's what they do in order to get their stories.

And who would do such a thing anyway? Limited I am not saying it is the dogs fault. But why didn't they react as they should?

Is it because in fact she wasn't even there when they first went on the Wednesday? But somehow she was when they returned? The crime scene will have been damaged a lot now. With all those people in and out.

I am upset at the thought of it. I know people think it is insensitve to speculate...but when a case like this comes to light, the public do get upset...and talking about it is natural and a way of processing things...it's terrible to think that she wasn't found sooner.

me too!

Shagmundfreud · 14/08/2012 11:26

Can anyone suggest why, when the grandmothers boyfriend said 'I knew deep down in my heart that she'd left the house', I felt that this was an extremely odd thing to say. I can't put into words why I found this such a peculiar thing to say.

Viviennemary · 14/08/2012 11:36

Because then people would think that she had disappeared from the house and could be anywhere.

Of course it "sounds like a copper" !!! That's where the phrase comes from !

I was just pointing out that a 'serious case review' is standard procedure in these cases and doesn't signify that this one stands out in any way.

But some of you are going a bit too far in expressing your opinions, and you need to be a bit more circumspect if you want the thread to stay open for discussion. I've no intention of reporting anyones posts, but I think the mods are going to have a problem with one or two when they see them. Just sayin'.

NCForNow · 14/08/2012 13:11

There aren't mods here. It's policed by the users.

FiveMonths · 14/08/2012 13:35

Sorry, sorry for posting something they saw fit to delete...my brain isn't in gear today. I was trying to answer someone's question, something regarding psychology, of course it could be construed as speculative Blush

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 14/08/2012 13:39

The fallout from all this is so horrible - for example for the wife of the family next door - poor, poor woman Sad

NCF - OR you could give people the benefit of the doubt when they haven't even been questioned, let alone arrested, let alone charged. FGS.
