oh dear

OP posts:
hercules · 13/02/2006 10:30

crossed posts with bear. Now I know you are joking.

beartime · 13/02/2006 10:32

I'm NOT!

hercules · 13/02/2006 10:33

Personally I couldnt stay at home for very long. I stayed at home with ds till he was 3 and swore I wouldnt do it again. I went back to work when dd was 5 months.

I dont think that it's so clearcut that a parent should automatically stay at home because the child is the number one priority. Of course the child is top priority but can still be so with both parents at work!

hercules · 13/02/2006 10:33

Do you honestly believe women are here simply to serve their husbands?

hercules · 13/02/2006 10:34

You should start your own thread - it would make for a great discussion!

uwila · 13/02/2006 10:34

Completely agree with your last post, LadyG. We absolutely should not give up our right to fulfilling careers.

Am still in shock over Beartime's post. I'm appalled that it was typed with sincerity.

foundintranslation · 13/02/2006 10:38

When I saw your post of 10:25:28, beartime, I was sure you were joking, but after seeing the one after that I'm not so sure any more.

beartime · 13/02/2006 10:39

not just to serve their husbands, but that's their main job. Also look after the children and the home, be hospitable and do good works (as a lower priority)

hercules · 13/02/2006 10:40

Do you belong to a particular faith?

hercules · 13/02/2006 10:41

I have lots of questions! Were you brought up like this? Are you in turn bringing your children up with the same ideals?

feel free to tell me to mind my own business!

uwila · 13/02/2006 10:42

[fallen off my chair emoticon]

hercules · 13/02/2006 10:42

I'm going out in a moment so will catch up later.

still reeling

uwila · 13/02/2006 10:42

Oh yes, herc, I was wondering those questions too.

Cristina7 · 13/02/2006 10:45

Are you winding us up, Beartime?

uwila · 13/02/2006 10:46

Beartime, what is your husband's main job? And what other jobs does he have?

beartime · 13/02/2006 10:47

ok here's why I'm not joking:

Genesis 2:18-22 The LORD God said, ?It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.?...
But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man?s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

and:

Titus 2:3-6 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands

wheresthecoddingnecklace · 13/02/2006 10:47

PARP PARP PARP

Janos · 13/02/2006 10:49

Beartime - are you serious?

hercules · 13/02/2006 10:49

going now but it would be nice if people were respectful of someone else view no matter how different they are!

uwila · 13/02/2006 10:49

Oh, this is going to be an exciting thread. We've got childcare, SAHPs, Feminism (or is that New Post Feminism), and now religeon... all in one thread!!!

geekgrrl · 13/02/2006 10:50

what if you don't believe in it? Or if you have a different religion? Are you allowed to not serve your husband then?

Cristina7 · 13/02/2006 10:50

So it's OK to be a slanderer and addicted to wine when young? Just joking, I don't need another quote.

wheresthecoddingnecklace · 13/02/2006 10:51
