Because, honestly, what a load of old cock.

It's only a few blokes kicking a bit of leather round a field.

Does it really matter what day it's done?

If it's important to some people to have a day of remembrance, what's wrong with that?

The blokes can run out onto the field and kick the bit of leather some other day.

I thought the point was that people still do not know how their loved ones died, how long they suffered, or if they could have been saved if action had been taken sooner? People aren't mourning for mourning's sake, they are mourning as they have no "closure" (for want of a better word).

I'm not a football fan but I thought the hoo ha was because big matches need to be played at Wembly to make it financially viable?

EdithWeston · 18/04/2012 22:44

I don't think there was a hoo ha: it was one Arsenal fan a having a whine. None of the clubs directly involved seemed remotely fussed about it at all.

And Chelsea stuffed Tottenham in the fixture he was whining about, and have just won their European match too. Their next game is against Arsenal on Saturday - will they manage three in a row?

It's not so much about the message.. and yes if you focus on the death threats to divert the focus it may all seem a little over egged.. It's more about the disrespect shown and the manner in which it was said. If you could go face to face with any one of the 180 Hillsborough parents or hundreds of wider family members who pay their respects at Anfield every year and tell them to 'Get over it' then you are even more callous than those who give out stupid knee jerk statements about harming Davies.. it's a bit like marking 911 with a fly past of jets.. insensitive and totally uneccessary. They move football matches all the time because of 'weather' conditions or cup competitions for God's sake.. so have a little more respect.

What are these death threats that Alan Davies has received anyway?

As a child I used to regularly bleat: ' My mum will kill me.'

Forty years later the bastard police are yet to come round.

If I insisted I suppose they might indulge my attention-seeking by charging me with wasting their time.

EdithWeston · 22/04/2012 09:52

I think KingKaren sums up eloquently why Davies' remarks are offensive.

(Arsenal and Chelsea result was a goalless draw).

Too much angst too long.

I'm from Lockerbie but I don't expect special treatment.
