www.telegraph.co.uk/lifestyle/9115575/The-state-penalises-women-who-are-childless-and-unmarried-I-might-be-single-but-Im-not-a-failure.html

Methinks she protests too much and should get out more. Isn't she the one that had a thing with Boris?

No petronella, the word is 'insane'.

Pagwatch · 02/03/2012 10:24

Ah Petronella. If only we were all so useful.

To be honest, this week she has a point

I thought we were supposed to be far left extremists this week Confused

If she wants a support forum for childless women, why doesn't she set one up? Meanwhile, there are plenty of childless women on here, along with a fair few men, with and without children.

AIBUqatada · 02/03/2012 10:33

It's not full of inane females; it's full of females being inane. I'm very ane when I'm not on Mumsnet.

Although that piece is stupid, it does make quite a refreshing change: there are SO many articles by mummy and daddy journalists inventing spurious trends around parenthood so that they can turn their fertility to professional benefit, so in fairness you can't begrudge a spurious piece of nonsense that carves a few column inches from childlessness.

ExitPursuedByaBear · 02/03/2012 10:36

Just read the article on came on here to see if anyone had commented. She only refers to Baby Name threads - so she really is missing out on the whole jamboree that is going on here at the moment.

I don't know about getting out more, she needs to spend more time immersed in some of the loony threads, it may teach her a thing or two, or at least cheer her up.

scaryteacher · 02/03/2012 10:36

Presumably her childlessness is by choice though. We have a friend who was approaching mid 30s, no serious bloke, just a series of f**ck buddies, and she decided to have AID, got pregnant first time, and now has a ds. What's stopping Wyatt?

OP posts:
cocolepew · 02/03/2012 10:37

But at least she loks so jolly.

scaryteacher · 02/03/2012 10:37

I did point out she needed to look at the Politics thread on the DT comments about the article Exit.

ExitPursuedByaBear · 02/03/2012 10:40

Well done - I was going to go on line and point her towards some of the more weighty stuff on here but you have beaten me to it.

TunipTheVegemal · 02/03/2012 10:40

no no Plenty, you've got it wrong, the whole point of the far left extremists is that they are infiltrators, not REAL MNers because mummies can't possibly have any interest in politics. (People who have been here for ages who are on those threads.... you know, like Sancti or the people who vote Tory, well let's just say their cover is very deep.)

Mumsnet is full of inane females with a few far left infiltrators mixed in Confused

2blessed2bstressed · 02/03/2012 10:42

Am not familiar with Ms Wyatt and have no knowledge of any of the rest of her musings, but she may have a point in this article - in general. However, the MN bashing is a little uncalled for..."baby names" is never going to be cut and thrust debate of the highest order, perhaps her mistake was in not daring to venture further amongst us.
Grin

Onesunnymorningin2012 · 02/03/2012 10:42

Gawd I hate people using 'females' to describe women. I'm a childless woman and I love it here.

She has a point, but the way she's making it... Describing SAC as 'subject to choler' FFS.

PineappleBed · 02/03/2012 10:44

She's comparing the persecution of Homosexuals, Jews and black people to her weird mate saying she should bring a bloke to a dinner party?!? WTF? Words actually fail me! What a self centred clueless idiot!

Onesunnymorningin2012 · 02/03/2012 12:24

She's Godwinned herself. What a self-obsessed idiot.

Labootin · 02/03/2012 12:32

to be fair 90% of MN is inane bollocks

I happen to like inane bollocks and spout it frequently .

SpringHeeledJack · 02/03/2012 12:35

"Sometimes I joke that our plight is reminiscent of the secret lives that gays were forced to lead before the liberal reforms of the sixties"

jeeeeesus

I doubt any gays practicing their secret lives were able to drone on about it at length in the Telegraph. I should think they'd have been handed on to the police without further ado for a nice long stretch in the Scrubs

oh, and can't she invent a better shit acronym? SAC is a bit too much like satc. How about SACf?

all in all she doesn't sound the brightest to me, so she should fit right in here

franke · 02/03/2012 12:40

I get the impression that the entire piece was concocted so that she could finally have a pop back at Birchill.

GrimmaTheNome · 02/03/2012 12:45

Oh dear. Her main problem seems to be this --> Envy

She's a grown independent woman, living in an age where she can do what the heck she wants. (including coming here and enjoying a little light drivel if she wishes. She may not have a kid but I bet she's got a washing machine)

GrimmaTheNome · 02/03/2012 12:47

to be fair 90% of MN is inane bollocks

And at the mo, the other 10% is dogs' bollocks. :- :-

I get the impression that the entire piece was concocted so that she could finally have a pop back at Birchill.
yeah, well, that's understandable.

MooncupGoddess · 02/03/2012 12:48

Not only did she have an affair with Boris, she aborted his child. Maybe she is (understandably?) bitter about the whole thing.

VivaLeBeaver · 02/03/2012 12:50

Says she who has written such an inane article I couldn;t get further than the second paragraph.

''You have to get married and have children. It?s the only thing that will improve your economic and social status.??

I wouldn't think that "all was right with the world" if I was having a drink with someone who spouts that kind of bollocks. Who talks like that?
