the saddest cuts, that will affect the most vulnerable

one example
on the news last night there was one person who will no loose her only contact with the outside world as the day centre she uses will close.
another will loose his phisio which will affect his life expectancy.
this is just one example of one council, but it is happening every where, it is a discrace and very short sighted as now more people will have to go into residential care, and that will cost so much more.

:( sorry. Just thought it was worth a suggestion as another route. A word in ear like.

molepom · 17/02/2012 00:43

I doubt it Splat...in my eyes she's as bad as he is, if anyone could have said something before now it was her, even if it did mean showing up her husband in public..I would imagine she's in a difficult position because of him and these policies (trying to think of the best of someone I dont know).

Dillydaydreaming · 17/02/2012 08:21

What scares me more is that even when defeated in the HOL's this lot are still pushing the reforms through! How are they doing that when they are a cobbled together Govt? There seems to be no stopping them and no end of "deserving vs undeserving poor" headlines being fostered. I refuse to believe these are not the result of planned Govt leaks designed to whip up public feeling against anyone who has to claim benefits. I think I read here that a woman whose autistic son was taken to school by a neighbour had that support withdrawn because the neighbour had read that she "could get a free car from her disability payments".
I worry about where this is going to end tbh. Did anyone see Panorama "Poor America"? That's where we are headed sadly.Sad

Sevenfold · 17/02/2012 09:28

the government have done a good job, they seem to have convinced people that disabled people are scroungers and should be happy just to exist.
you only have to look at mn to see that.

OP posts:
KalSkirata · 17/02/2012 09:36

They have been defeated twice in the HoL and SineyDave announced he would push the WRB through regardless.
And yes, we will end up like 'Poor America'. Heck, we already have homeless people. In tents, cravans, on friends floors, in temporary B&B's. We have food banks who are now seeing middle class types who cant make ends meet or who have lost jobs.
I would move but no country will allow dd in.

JuliaScurr · 17/02/2012 10:09

It's not that Callmedave and co have done a good PR job; it's the crap opposition who won't show any spine and represent us. They're all neocon free market privateers; Miliband offers slower cuts, Greens look good until they run a council, then they cave in
We need another party/mass demos/strikes etc

molepom · 17/02/2012 10:55

We need a revolution! If we can actually get members from the DWP to support us by going on strike for an afternoon, or even a day...

what would be better though is if one of those members get's the DWPs policy in their hands and oh..I dont know...makes it viral in some way...but I can dream.

Isn't there a big do in London coming up soon? Protest marches and what ever else are banned in London during that time though..again dreaming.

Sevenfold · 17/02/2012 12:18

I have noticed that there is a lot of outrage, quite rightly about people who are dying being forced into un paid work, but not so much about disabled people......

OP posts:
molepom · 17/02/2012 12:25

I'm working on it Sevenfold..I'm shouting about the disabled as much as I can.

Glitterknickaz · 17/02/2012 13:08

I phoned Jeremy Vine this afternoon as they were discussing Workfare.
i pointed out that terminally ill people would be expected to work for nothing for the profit of large corporations, and that carers of people with disabilities were also expected to work for nothing AND pay for care for the people they care for from their benefits.

They didn't feature me. I wonder why not?

molepom · 17/02/2012 13:10

Well done for trying though Glitter

SanctiMoanyArse · 17/02/2012 15:39

Glitter becuase we are now in the indset that preceded 1930's germany, heaven help us.

Keep yuour passports up to date; we do. Tent, apssport and we can be gone in an hour (although at elast if Scotland becomes independent we won't even need a ferry!)

googlenut · 17/02/2012 15:50

Can anyone tell me what the proposed changes are for carers-are they expected to go out to work?

KalSkirata · 17/02/2012 16:36

No country will take dd

JuliaScurr · 17/02/2012 16:47

Don't forget - don't get mad, get organised!
falseeconomy
coalitionofresistance
anticutsprotests
All local anti-cuts groups are full of people like me! So how can you resist? Smile

Sevenfold · 17/02/2012 16:52

I don't want to protest against all cuts, I haven't got the energy and tbh I think what ever happens there will be cuts.
but take the places in my link, the man from the council was on tv, he went on about how libraries were being kept open and dustbins collected....
and so on, he obviously thought that theses closures didn't matter. sadly that is the thinking in this country

OP posts:
JuliaScurr · 17/02/2012 16:56

seven I think you're being too negative. This is a weak govt, defeated in HoL, splits in coalition, no mandate, etc. We can win this.

googlenut · 17/02/2012 17:00

Sorry to keep repeating myself but could someone tell me what is changing for carers

molepom · 17/02/2012 17:05

Unless you are caring for someone on Higher Rate DLA, you will be expected to work for a number of hours a week in paid employment under the new Universal Credit rules with come into force in April 2013, if the person you are claiming for claims middle rate DLA which will be classed as Lower rate under the new rules.

These bastards have no shame

molepom · 17/02/2012 17:20

There's a hell of a lot of angry people out there Julia and the number is growing by the day.

Scameron's days are number and he knows it. He's sticking the boot in while he can.

JuliaScurr · 17/02/2012 18:46

I do believe they've waited a long time to do this; now they've done agreatjob of spinning a drama out of a downturn to justify it

2old2beamum · 17/02/2012 18:46

molepom I really hope you are right, the thought of these twats hurting this group of vulnerable people makes my blood boil. I know several families who will consider relinquishing responsibilities as they feel their loved ones would get a better deal in care Whether they would if the shit hits the fan I don't know. Personally I feel we should do some something all I can think of is a large scale demonstration in all towns and cities.
BTW did I hear a rumour that DLA would only be awarded to one child per family. Please feel happy to correct me.

googlenut · 17/02/2012 18:48

What if you don't claim carers but have a child on middle dla. Won't be claiming universal credit either. Will they still reduce the dla?
