Not just his principles though, I think he knows we are going to get hammered at the euros and he is getting out now before the onslaught of the british media in July! This is all very convenient for him imo.

spursmummy · 08/02/2012 21:30

You can probably tell I'm a Spurs fan by my nickname, and I'm a worried one at that. I think it's a conspiracy by Chelsea to finish above us in the league! Harry didn't get jailed so they brought down Capello instead...

I'm clinging desperately to the hope that Harry might not like the reality of not running a team and wheeling & dealing day in day out, and that fans/press will turn on him sooner or later - it's definitely not a cushy retirement job.

I think the England team should be run by a team of armchair fans such as myself, because obviously we know everything about playing the game!

MollieO · 08/02/2012 21:34

I don't think he was given a choice - Bernstein told him to resign or else he'd be sacked.

normaleggy · 08/02/2012 21:37

But would Harry want the job? He was saying today how fantastic the support has been from Spurs and the fans, is he now going to turn his back on them?

Jose, Jose, Jose....

Bollocks to it being an Englishman, it just has to be the RIGHT man.

galletti · 08/02/2012 21:38

Much that I am happy that Fabio has gone, and agree he should not have said what he did in public, I do think that YET AGAIN the FA got it wrong with regards to Terry. Just leave him with the Captaincy, or tell him he is not playing in Euro 2012. Not leave it as a half way house.

And this sudden mania for Harry baffles me. Maybe its just because he is the only credible English contender for the job? He may not actually want to leave the Club where he is doing so well, and which has supported him so much. He has also been unwell recently. And, mm ..... well, something still doesnt feel right.

MollieO · 08/02/2012 21:40

They will have a temp for the next international. Harry will take over for the two friendlies before Euro 12. He'll manage Spurs during the two friendlies and then take the England job full time at the end of the season in time for the Euro 12

PrincessFiorimonde · 08/02/2012 22:02

I honestly can't see why ANYONE wants to be the England manager.

Everyone knows that the team gets engulfed in crazy adoration before a tournament, with media and fans expecting a result far beyond its abilities.

And then the poor old team gets vilified and spat on when it can't deliver. Which it can't. Because our players are Just Not Good Enough to beat the rest of the world - or even, in this case, the rest of Europe.

The manager cops for the worst of such vilification. The fans hate him for not winning. But how can he make a silk purse out of a sow's ear? Even if he is St Harry.

Panfriedstardust · 08/02/2012 22:12

It's a BIG paycheck. That's why people want the job. It certainly isn't for the glory or job satisfaction, we know that much.

balotelli · 08/02/2012 22:15

Jose will never get the jpb for the same reason cloughie never got the job. the stuffy old twats that run the FA could not cope with a manager that speaks his mind and knows what he is doing.
We will never get any where until we get shot of all the old arseholes that run the game. Its played by younger people, watched by mainly younger people and paid for by mainly younger people so why should it be run by a bunch of ageing farts.
Unfortunately Harry is the only candidate but not until may.

Panfriedstardust · 08/02/2012 22:17

Well, there's always Mancini after Citeh choke.

PrincessFiorimonde · 08/02/2012 22:21

Dear Pan,

City ain't going to choke.

Remember you read it here first.

PrincessFiorimonde · 08/02/2012 22:21
Panfriedstardust · 08/02/2012 22:26

Yes they will choke. It's in their DNA, grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory. And Balotelli and Tevez will be part of that. You heard that here first. Or twelfth.Smile

ThePathanKhansWitch · 08/02/2012 22:37

If not HR, Mike Basset.Grin

PrincessFiorimonde · 08/02/2012 22:37
Shock Tevez is going to choke City all the way from Argentina?
Panfriedstardust · 08/02/2012 22:48

Well, yes. He is an embittered individual, always has been, and a bit delusional and ego-driven. As the weeks and months go by and he sits with nothing to do he will fire off and aim at his previous 'colleagues' and officials. A further pressure for MCFC.

Balotelli? Who knows how!Grin

PrincessFiorimonde · 08/02/2012 22:59

An ego-driven footballer. Lawks.

Luckily for me, I am a City supporter only by proxy (DP's team). Still think they'll win the League, though.

Sadly for me, I am a Bolton supporter. We have lots to be Lawks about.

Panfriedstardust · 08/02/2012 23:03

further bad news...Notlob are doomed!

PrincessFiorimonde · 08/02/2012 23:18

Just because it was Python doesn't make it a proper palindrome.

We'll be staying. But sad to say, in the process we will have to wave goodbye to Wolves and Wigan. Less sad to see Blackburn go.

Capello's heart's never been in it. I assume he will indeed get his payoff. All worked out quite nicely for him - I can't help suspecting that the Terry situation presented itself as a convenient point on which to 'make a stand'.

MrsDeeBee · 08/02/2012 23:35

Another Spur's fan here.

I don't want Harry to leave. Sad

I really hope he does turn the England job down, if he gets offered it.

I wondered if maybe the Special One would be a candidate for England too ? Or will it be the other way round ? Harry leaves us, and we get Jose ?

I am petrified that if Harry goes we will lose GB too. I think I would cry a little bit. In between ranting about what bastards they are.

Panfriedstardust · 08/02/2012 23:36

yes 80's - Capello knew exactly what he was doing when speaking to the Italian tv - I'd said on anoteh thread that he'd negotiated himself into a corner quite deliberately.

MrsDeeBee · 08/02/2012 23:38

Oh, and we should take the opportunity now to have a proper cull of the England 'Team'.

The majority imho are self satisifed arseholes who seem to have no idea that it should be an honour to play for your country, not a right.

And I still cannot get over the ego of our ex-captain. I hope whoever gets the England job tells him FIRST that his services are no longer required.
