MrsDeeBee totally agree. He really is an unpleasant individual. What the hell his wife sees in him I can't imagine

MrsDeeBee · 08/02/2012 23:58

cbem

Well, Roman has been to Cobham again this week. I wonder if maybe Chelsea will be saying bye-bye to AVB and welcoming Mr. Special back with open arms and a blank cheque ?

EightiesChick

Lots of money, and a very nice life, I suppose ?

I detest him. With a passion. We've all seen how he treats his family and friends. And the youtube clips, where he seems very angry and is shouting at another player. Wink

I am liking your new England line up !

I don't know much about paying court to players and clubs....but there seems to be too much of it in the clubs' favour. As I said, I believe it's an honour to be asked to represent your country, so I think we could do with a good shake up of football and competitions anyway. Sod players and club managers telling the manager of the national team who is available etc, players should be told that if you are asked and turn it down, you won't get asked again. Club managers should be told that during times of Euro's/World Cup's, the national team has priority, not the club.

Players from the Championship down can be asked to play, I suppose they aren't generally because 1) they aren't 'well-known' and 2) they aren't good enough ?

Might be just the kick up the backside some of the Premiership 'players' need though !

I think it's a rotten shame GB is Welsh !

normaleggy · 09/02/2012 08:32

Yes cbem there is far too much dead wood in the England squad, time to get rid and give some of the youngsters a go. Am watching the Walcott/Oxlade-Chamberlain combination at Arsenal develop with interest.

AnonymousBird · 09/02/2012 09:44

I'm not particularly into football, but I could not be more pleased to see the back of Fabio - hopefully whoever replaces him puts that other massive ego, JT, in his place as well. Tell him (and others) to get stuffed, because, guess what, we really really don't need him (or them)!

COME ON HARRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY AND THE (NEW) BOYS!!!!!!

kelly2000 · 09/02/2012 10:15

oh the irony - John Terry loses the captainship because he was accused of making a racist comment, Capello is forced to resign for saying he should not be punished before his guilt is known as he belives in innocent before proven guilty - and what is the reaction to his resignation? "yey now we can have an Englishman as manager" - so apparently discrimination is OK in the eyes of the FA.

Panfriedstardust · 09/02/2012 10:31

that is quite a lose and twisted logic you have there, kelly.

I would have liked to have seen Dalgliesh, AVB and Ferguson condemning the booing of Ferdinand and Evra each time they touched the ball - one for having the audacity to complain about being abused and the other for being the brother of someone currently complaining. Or the FA could step in and penalise Liverpool and Chelsea for the behaviour of their fans.

PrincessFiorimonde · 09/02/2012 10:37

Pan, I absolutely agree with you. I'm not a United fan, but I think the way the opposition fans treated Rio Ferdinand and Evra was utterly disgraceful.

Panfriedstardust · 09/02/2012 10:56

yes PF thank you.

Quite how all the managers could say "our fan's behaviour was good" when they had spent 90 mins boo-ing people who had stood up against racism is beyond any reason.
The FA are making a good deal of play out of the zero-tolerance of "Kick Racism out of Football", but nicely body-swerve this issue. ( or possibly are so unaware they don't see it.)

kelly2000 · 09/02/2012 11:05

How is it twisted logic, saying that they think the job should be given to someone who is English is racist, and encourages racism against non-english people. It would be racist to say you hope your local coffee shop starts hiring English people over non-english people, why is it different for football? Racism is wrong plain and simple.

Panfriedstardust · 09/02/2012 11:15

Well, the FA haven't said anything about the next manager at all. I don't think they have. Other people may have, not them.

ragged · 09/02/2012 11:23

West Ham fan last night was saying how useless HR was whilst manager there.
I thought he was Guilty as Sin, as each bit of the trial was reported.

kelly2000 · 09/02/2012 11:56

No the FA have not said anything about the nationality of the next manager, but I bet there will not punish those footballers tweeting about how they want an English manager, which they would do if they really gave a damn about racism in football.

MrsDeeBee · 09/02/2012 13:31

Pan

Completely agree with you. I think that Kenny Dalglish has behaved appallingly recently, also regarding that twat (well he is !) Suarez.

Match V Spurs, 1st match in 9, on the pitch 5 minutes and immediately kicks Parker in the stomach, dangerous and violent play.

For Dalglish to then say how much Liverpool has missed him, and how he should never have been banned for 8 matches, is beyond me. At best, he cannot play football properly, personally, I think he's an abusive, aggressive thug.

I felt dreadfully sorry for Patrice Evra, the poor guy did nothing wrong, as Rio Ferdinand. I think it just shows you the mentality of lots of 'fans', and it has nothing to do with appreciating the 'beautiful game', or supporting team members.

slug · 09/02/2012 13:51

Oh. Dear. God.

The England football team hasn't won a major tournament (or indeed, any tournament) for 46 years.

WHY is the resignation of yet another manager of a second rate football team taking up so much of the news??

Now, to be fair, British players only really get coverage if they're in posession of a penis.

I give you:

Women's Hockey team (2nd in Challenge cup on Sunday, where was the coverage?/ Oh yes, they were covering the superbowl instead)

Women's Rugby (Currently the defending 6 nation's champions, playing at the same time as the men, but recieving no coverage at all)

UK Women's football team (same world ranking as the men's but where's the coverage about them?)

I could go on....

If "football is the national sport" Then why isn't women's football covered? Or is it just men's football that is the national sport?

This is more controversial because it is directly linked to our national attitude to racism. Capello chose to support someone who is under a CPS charge of racist abuse, and the FA are very keen to demonstrate their responsibility as the arbiters of our national spectator sport.

slug · 09/02/2012 15:53

It's a bit bloody difficult to watch women's football if it's not broadcast!!!

slug · 09/02/2012 15:56

I mean, where on earth is the British audience for the superbowl?? How many people in the UK play or are even interested in it? Yet hockey is played by men and women up and down the country.

yet when the choice was between a game that is played by a miniscule number of people but those people have a penis (penii?) and a game that has a fairly strong following in the UK but is played by people with a vagina, which got the coverage??

You're missing the point. It's the men's game that is feted. The fact that football is on Sky has nothing to do with it. Match of the Day, the sports sections of the news and all the papers concentrate solely on the men's game. It's bloody difficult to be a fan of a game if it gets no coverage and is difficult to get to see.

There are plenty of examples of audiences for sports being created by broadcasters. Snooker is a pretty good one. there was little or no audience for it until the BBC decided to use it to test colour TV. Sailing is another one. Audiences for it in NZ and Oz soared fro practically zero to massive after blanket coverage of the America's Cup on TV. Have you ever watched sailinn on TV? Watching paint dry is more scintillating, but give it blanket media coverage (not just TV) and you can create an audience out of nothing.
