I am sure this must be indescribably Painful for the parents , But I was thinking in bed - what if I had been selected for that Jury service....

I am soooooo emotional and i reckon that this would seriously affect me for the rest of my life (not saying it wouldnt for others natch).

I know you cant get out of Jury Service But God - how would you cope?

Angelanais, in this case there is no jumping to conclusions, there is no 'automatic' about it. There is overwhelming evidence and the testimony of the many victims. As you say there are miscarriages of justice - courts of law are not the only way of seeing the truth.

Do you remember that case where a whole load of locals misunderstood the term paediatrician, and branded an innocent man as a paedophile??? I'm just saying that it's very easy to jump on the bandwagon shouting the odds without knowing all the facts. None of us was in court and heard all they heard. That's all I'm trying to say.

I'm not saying he's innocent, but just that we have to be very careful about jumping to conclusions.

Erm, have you read the serious newspapers today? The four allegations are facts. The women fully stand by them. Also the women who were children when Huntley was having sex with them also corroborate the social services investigations of the time. Nobody heard anything in court because there was no court case. But four allegations by four different people against one man? A man who has subsequently emerged as a child killer and sexual predator? How can you not be convinced? I think wanting to think the best of people is normally a fine quality, but not if it gets in the way of common sense.

Oh Aloha, I am no fan of the legal system. HAving seen several friends and aquaintances locked up and in particular one mate get a 14 year sentence (more than most rapists...) for a bit of criminal damage.

I am the last person who would say we have a perfect, or even particularly good system. However, as it's all we've got and as far as it goes this kind of trial by media undermines it.

I don't think he's innocent, and I've kind of lost track of what my original point was (I'm sure there was one there somewhere!) but lets be thankful that he is locked up and should never be able to get his hands on another victim.

No, I haven't seen a newspaper at all today. I AM NOT SUGGESTING HE DIDN'T RAPE THEM.

I said I was unconvinced about MC, NOT IH.

I can totally see what Aloha is trying to say. As usual your posts are extremely eloquent and your point clear and well put. I agree entirely.
It is obvious now beyond all reasonable doubt that IH IS guilty of those other rapes he was accused of.
We don't need a court of law to decide this in this case Imo, The odds alone of several different unconnected women coming forward and accusing him of rape at diffent times must be a billion to one.
This is not like the John leslie case were lots of women came forward to accuse him of assaults after he had been named by the media, . These women who accused IH knew nothing of each other or any previous accusations.
We say someone is innocent until proven guily. and I agree with that. But NOT in rhis case, because it doesn't apply in my book, for one v important reason. IAN huntly IS not INNOCENT.
hE IS IN JAIL SERVING A DOUBLE life sentance. hE IS ALREADY A GUILTY MAN.it is extemely obvious he raped those other women, and to say otherwise would be an insult to those poor victims of his attacks. And i would rather insult ih.
