BREAKING NEWS: P&G win gold on the mumsnet family awards (which they sponsor)

iloveberries · 03/11/2011 14:25

Anyone else a bit cynical about this and think that P&G have basically 'bought' the award. My best friend and husband used to work there (how i met him) and I can guarantee they are anything BUT family friendly to work for!!!

OP posts:
Ponders · 03/11/2011 23:16

I haven't read the whole thread but am another who finds MTG's posts surreal (to put it politely)

"I did not give a list of HR policies, I gave a list of benefits that P&G employees experience day-in day-out. I wrote them out off the cuff - no reference to company websites."

How? How??? How would a 'teacher' know this stuff "off the cuff"?

I checked out the Pampers/vaccine thread too - where did this come from?

"12% is way higher than other P&G categories, which is more in the region of 5% of NOS. As a $2 billion dollar brand, a brand like Pampers is going to drive the average profit. At 12% it is going to skew it unrealistically.
Bottom line, however, is that P&G is doing something. You might say it is not enough, but they don't have to do anything. Given that P&G US employees give a mandatory 5% of their income to charity, they are already a very generous company. Their community initiatives in the UK are also outstanding. There is no reason to whinge. If you think tetanus vaccines are a good thing to support, go support them. Don't complain that others aren't doing enough."

Also "off the cuff" with no reference to company websites? Hmm

LeBOF · 03/11/2011 23:16

Why can't you answer straight question, for the millionth time of asking?

EverybodysScaryEyed · 03/11/2011 23:16

architrien - that was very interesting and good to hear first hand experience

PatriciaHolm · 03/11/2011 23:16

Oh for heavens sake. I have cited 2 concrete examples which you have ignored. It's like talking to a three year old.

MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 23:17

Grasshopper,

No, they are not legal requirements. I work in a company that just gives legal requirements and life is very, very different.

I would love to know who pays insurance for a 17 - 19 year old boy to drive a death mobile car.

eaglewings · 03/11/2011 23:17

Architien, sorry to hear about your mum, but thank you for posting it has made getting to post 189 worth it
You have now given us some first hand experience of the company as an employies child.

As for the intrest in MTG's knowledge source, get over it, have some of you never had an intrest in your dp or parent or siblings work? I could tell you lots about teaching, nursing, prison service etc but work in none of these areas.

KatieMiddIeton · 03/11/2011 23:17

MindtheGappp what is your relationship to Proctor & Gamble?

I think we should all just ask that until she confesses all, MNHQ delete the thread or we all get RSI typing it out.

Ponders · 03/11/2011 23:18

I work in a company that just gives legal requirements

company? who do you teach then?

ShirleyKnot · 03/11/2011 23:18

And how AWFUL that architrien's story of the very positive family friendly measures put in place by P&G have been eclipsed by mindthegappp.

LeBOF · 03/11/2011 23:18

Do you keep it secret while claiming expertise though, eaglewings?

JustineMumsnet · 03/11/2011 23:18

Cor Blimey this threads gone a bit pear innit? Two things - first is that we can see nothing to suggest Mindthegappp is anything other than she claims and she's been a mumsnet member for quite some time. Secondly our awards are based on a an independent audit of staff as well as an audit by Mumsnetters and we do believe they are pretty robust. P&G came out of that process well - hence their gold award - you can't buy a gold award! I will ask the Family Friendly team to provide further detail about why they won Gold asap.

MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 23:19

ponders - independent sector. No handouts from the taxpayer.

thisisyesterday · 03/11/2011 23:20

but eaglewigns, MTG is insisting that no-one say anything negative about the company unless they have direct experience while at the same time proclaiming to have concrete evidence that they are good despite not working for them.

and it's just downright weird to be so evangelical about it, and so het up without being willing to say "yes, my husband works for them" or whatever...

eaglewings · 03/11/2011 23:20

I would not reveal my conections on here, no, it would make me too recognisable to those who know me in RL

BerryLellow · 03/11/2011 23:20

Why did I open this thread? Sucked in now

Ditto

We cant debate the facts because we dont know them but for the 'millionth' time of asking we would love to know why you do?

eaglewings · 03/11/2011 23:21

My bet is her mum is the chair and that's why she can't say :)

CaptainNancy · 03/11/2011 23:22

architien - nice to hear it has worked well for someone. I'm sorry about your mum.

ShirleyKnot · 03/11/2011 23:22

I love you Justine

But COME ON - have you actually read the threads, read the stuff that mindthegappp is writing?

Maybe I could get a sponsorship deal and as long as I stayed this close to the advertising boundary I could get away with it. Hmm

Yeah - I chucked you a Hmm face

KatieMiddIeton · 03/11/2011 23:23

I'd also like to know why Justine appears to be posting in the style of Dick Van Dyke.

This thread is most bizzare.

Google ''Hariborange kills otters'' if you want to know the pitfalls of viral marketeering

thisisyesterday · 03/11/2011 23:24

justine, we all believe mtg is a long-time MN'er and is who she says she is.

we just think she works for P&G too.

thassall

Mum1369 · 03/11/2011 23:24

Arrghh have to get up in the morning.....(refills wine and settles in)

531800000008 · 03/11/2011 23:24

lolo at DVD posting style

EverybodysScaryEyed · 03/11/2011 23:25

Indeed Shirley, Indeed

shakes head cynically and logs off - this thread is putting me off P&G and mumsnet
