BREAKING NEWS: P&G win gold on the mumsnet family awards (which they sponsor)

iloveberries · 03/11/2011 14:25

Anyone else a bit cynical about this and think that P&G have basically 'bought' the award. My best friend and husband used to work there (how i met him) and I can guarantee they are anything BUT family friendly to work for!!!

OP posts:
ShirleyKnot · 03/11/2011 22:05

Oh.

How strange. My knowledge beyond my own job only extends as far as jobs past.

DunderMifflin · 03/11/2011 22:07

Mum1369 · 03/11/2011 22:07

Mind the p and g- that's just taking the p@ss out of us isn't it ?

LauraIngallsWilder · 03/11/2011 22:09

I suspect your motives Mindthegappp because you know more about a company than is reasonable for any person to know. You defend them beyond what is reasonable for someone who claims to have no motive.

There isnt a single company I could write about at length as you have or defend to the extent that you have - despite the fact that there are loads of campaigns against them (and there have been for years as you well know)

MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 22:10

Your loss, last three posters.

Why are you shying away from discussing the points? Is it really so satisfying to attack me personally? How about getting one over on me intellectually?

I don't think anyone here should have to get into a position of identifying themselves in real lives. It is wrong to put pressure on, especially when there is plenty of mileage in just dicussing the facts. I am happy for everyone to realise that I know what I am talking about. If the debate exceeds this, then so be it.

GsyGacheFiend · 03/11/2011 22:12

I'm just wondering why you'd be so interested/knowledgeable about a company which you claim has nothing to do with your professional career.

People would perhaps stop suspecting your motives if you were a bit more forthcoming about where your "good and real knowledge of the company" originates from.

louby86 · 03/11/2011 22:13

For the record I do work for a blue chip company, not that that has anything to do with what the subject of this thread is Hmm

ShirleyKnot · 03/11/2011 22:14

See the thing is Mindthegandppp is thus...

Had you arrived on this thread and said "I work in the accounts payable department for P & G and I can tell you that, as a nursing mother, I have been given a room to express my milk, understanding of my need for a work/life balance and they've been GREAT!" or:

"I work for P&G and am a dad, theres been an implicit understanding that as a dad I have other commitments and this has been handled with grace and understanding WITHOUT AFFECTING my career path "

then maybe, just maybe Mners could have got on board.

Your posts are a JOKE and have made a joke of MNHQ and the whole AWARD.

Greythorne · 03/11/2011 22:15

The point is that P&G and other big companies can have all the family-friendly policies "in place", listed on their corporate website for the world to see but the reality of working in some of these places can be brutal.

Now, I am not saying that P&G is wrong for fostering a highly competitive and ruthless corporate culture. Nor that people who work there are wrong for acceoting such a culture, thriving within it and perpetuating it.

But let's not pretend that such companies are family friendly.

No need to refute your list of benefits point by point, mindthegapp. It's much bigger picture than that.

MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 22:16

I could ask anyone who is posting here about why they are so interested in P&G. Obviously I am the odd one out since I actually know what I am talking about.

I still wait for berries to come back with specific examples of when the company culture did not hold.

I am sorry that I cannot satisfy everyone's curiosity. We don't always get to know everything we want to know.

DunderMifflin · 03/11/2011 22:16

We have no direct experience of whether they are a family-friendly company as none of us have actually worked for P&G and as has been said numerous times, what a company purport to do in terms of staff isn't always actually the case.

BiscuitNibbler · 03/11/2011 22:16

Why is it important to know the roles of the OP's DH & best friend but not important to know your link to the company, MTG?

By teacher, do you mean you work in the training department of P&G?

ShirleyKnot · 03/11/2011 22:17

OH! and a final point - had you not arrived mindthegapp then it is likely that the OP would have been derided for seeing black helicopters and being completely unreasonable.

Just sayin

DunderMifflin · 03/11/2011 22:18

Louby - yeah, that was a catty comment about you not working for a blue chip - another bizarre post by MTG

MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 22:19

Does P&G have everything I listed on their corporate website?

Does it say that 17 year olds can learn to drive in a company car and that they can continue to drive it after they have passed their test?

I don't think so.

saintlyjimjams · 03/11/2011 22:19

Are you drink MTG? Do you not realise how bizarre your posts are?

Greythorne · 03/11/2011 22:20

Dum di dum......here's another thread where Mindthegapp plugs away for P&G......."the best brands are the mid priced ones, eg Olay"

Just sayin'.

This is fascinating.

Greythorne · 03/11/2011 22:21

Olay is a P&G brand, btw, for any teachers who do not havebintimate knowledge of the P&G brand roster.

LauraIngallsWilder · 03/11/2011 22:23

Im not interested in P&G tbh.

Im interested in why you seem obsessed with defending them

ShirleyKnot speaks sense

DunderMifflin · 03/11/2011 22:23

The fact that you know details that aren't publicly listed (and why would they be?) just backs the case that you work for P&G...
as a hamfisted PR monkey

GsyGacheFiend · 03/11/2011 22:24
MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 22:25

Ah, now I am drunk. Maybe yes, maybe no. But I'd really we just debated the facts, because you will never actually know whether imam drunk or not, and what effect alcohol has on my faculties.

Why are people reluctant to debate the facts? I am so up for this.

louby86 · 03/11/2011 22:26

Exactly dunder I obviously don't have a teacher friend that knows everything about anything to tell me I can't contact acas if I work for a blue chip company Confused silly, silly me!

MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 22:26

I don't work for P&G.

But I am objective.

Mum1369 · 03/11/2011 22:27

Sorry, I'm still fuming about the nickname...mind the people and products of P&G....
