BREAKING NEWS: P&G win gold on the mumsnet family awards (which they sponsor)

iloveberries · 03/11/2011 14:25

Anyone else a bit cynical about this and think that P&G have basically 'bought' the award. My best friend and husband used to work there (how i met him) and I can guarantee they are anything BUT family friendly to work for!!!

Hmmm. Most strange. To add my two-pennyworth, I worked for a company that on paper offered most of the benefits listed by MindtheGapp, but the reality was very, very different. I'm more inclined to believe iloveberries, especially as MindtheGapp refuses to say how she knows all this! Hmm

ShirleyKnot · 03/11/2011 21:35

Oh and, incidentally:

"Give me an example of someone building their career who does the minimum hours in any company. A P&G staffer starts at around £30k - they are expected to do what needs to be done in order to advance. If they work minimum hours or take a child care break, their career progression will slow down - but it won't stop. When the time comes, they pick up where they left off. Not many places let this happen."

THIS make me want to shit my own eyes out.

iloveberries · 03/11/2011 21:35

MindTheGapp - i've recognised your name from other threads. You also know a LOT of detail about pampers if i recall rightly. Isn't pampers owned by P&G?

OP posts:
BaronessBomburst · 03/11/2011 21:36

Well, your motives are important here, especially as you don't work there, so why are you arguing with someone whose husband and best friend did?

LauraIngallsWilder · 03/11/2011 21:37

Mindthegappp
I know its none of my business why you know and how you know soooooo much about P&G but.......

Im fascinated to know how and why you know?
And why you are so determined to defend them

They may be family friendly to work for but the internet is awash with websites that contain allegations against P&G that would mean I couldnt and wouldnt work for them no matter how family friendly they may be..............

MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 21:37

You can connect whichever dots you choose, berries. I have nothing to hide.

iloveberries · 03/11/2011 21:37

shirley "shit my own eyes out". that's awesome, i am so going to use that one at some point this weekend :)

OP posts:
iloveberries · 03/11/2011 21:38

mindthegapp - i hope P&G pay you well to be on mumsnet at 21.38 defending them!!!

OP posts:
iloveberries · 03/11/2011 21:39

oh no, sorry, you're a TEACHER!

OP posts:
ShirleyKnot · 03/11/2011 21:39

Spooky shit.

Blush

Maybe Mindthegappp you should mind the GAP between your brain and the keyboard - you're doing a horrible job here.

BaronessBomburst · 03/11/2011 21:40

Nothing to hide? Then why are you refusing to tell us how and why you know so much?

MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 21:43

We don't know anything of the nature of the husband and best friend's employment. Until we do, it is impossible to make any kind of assessment.

BTW, a lot of P&G functions are 'outsourced' which means P&G is not the employer.

It is also possible that some new employees just don't like the job. They may cite the hours or some other facet of the corporate culture as to why they couldn't hack it. I have always found that the 60 hour a weekers do it because they love the work. They can burn out, especially if their line manager doesn't tell the to 'go home'.

ShirleyKnot · 03/11/2011 21:45
Shock

This must be an actual joke. Is mindthegappp a worker for um...Primark or summat on a covert mission?

You gotta be kidding me! Are you fucking with me with this shit?

60 hour a weekers LOVE their job? Even if they're parents? GYAC

MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 21:45

Berries,

It is obviously great fun to mock me, but it would be even more fun if you could give some concrete evidence to refute my big list of P&G benefits.

Otherwise, I am forming my opinions as to why you did not succeed at P&G - and nothing to do with parenting.

Just noticed that if you read your nickname backwards ...... P&Gthe mind....are you the thinking arm ?

Greythorne · 03/11/2011 21:51

Mindthegapp has form for cheerleading on behalf of P&G, see here, for examole.

Mindthegapp
If you do work for P&G, may I suggest you stop posting forthwith, as this thread is doing nothing good for the company's image and if you continue is likely to blow up into something hughly negative.

A forensic analysis of all your posts on the subject of P&G is probably not what you are after.

louby86 · 03/11/2011 21:52

I agree with berries ; on paper the huge multinational company I work for offer all those benefits. I have 5 years service, have worked my way up to senior management and now that I am pregnant am being advised by the union and acas to take my employer to court for sex discrimination related to my pregnancy. So yes, family friendly on paper but when it boils down to how your line manager operates rather than the head office that oversee the policy it opens up a whole new can of worms.

MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 21:56

I don't really know how to get people to stop suspecting my motives and start debating the facts.

There is really nothing to be gained from personal attacks.

I suspect the OP just wanted us all to agree with her in her distaste for big business - which is not unusual. And when someone comes along and does not agree, the thread takes a predictable turn.

MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 21:57

gosh, Lou, if you are dealing with ACAS, you are not working for a blue chip.

GsyGacheFiend · 03/11/2011 21:59

Good Link Grey

So how long have you been teaching MTG, and where do you find the time to do so much research on P&G Hmm Grin

MindtheGappp · 03/11/2011 22:01

I have been teaching for 17 years and I am impressed that you realise that I know more about P&G than most folks here.

Not sure what my teaching experience has anything to do with anything.

Mum1369 · 03/11/2011 22:02

I don't know anything about P&G, but it's naive to expect to come on what is largely an unbiased board and not expect your motives to be questioned, when you purport to be a teacher yet have an incredible amount of info and stats at your fingertips about a specific organisation. You are right that perhaps the facts should be discussed. But right now I am feeling extremely uncomfortable with the idea that companies place people on this board to debtate / promote / defend their products under aliases. Maybe I am the one who has been naive

LauraIngallsWilder · 03/11/2011 22:04

Ive worked it out mindthegappp is a teacher

Mrs P&G promoter at the P&G promotion school
Mission: to stamp out all anti negative P&G comments
Method: endless justification of P&G whilst claiming no personal interest or reason for knowing endless detail about P&G

:o

DunderMifflin · 03/11/2011 22:04

That's exactly how I feel Mum1369...
