Scots would live longer if....

.... they ate like the English. www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-15561501 And so would the Welsh and Northern Irish as well. So put down your deep fried Mars Bars O Celtic brethren, pick up a Yorkshire Pudding and do your arteries a favour. What could be controversial about that?

Laverbread's made with seaweed isn't it? Presumably, its iodine-rich seaweedy goodness is rejected by too many Welsh people in favour of KFC, CurlyWurlies and Beer. I suspect (but daren't say it out loud) that the 'English' diet that they're referring to is more the 'South East of England'... I don't think meat pie, curry sauce and half chips, half rice are what they mean.

They would all so live longer if they did not have the highest levels of poverty in the country, with of course the coldest temperatures in winter.

I have some vague memory that many Scots have a lower death age because their are genetically disposed to heart problems as a result of some adaptation earlier in the 1900s.
