Not heard anything. surely if it was true it would be all over the news?

sfxmum · 06/08/2011 21:45

there are pictures about and warnings to keep away but mostly online

I came on here to see if there was anything after seeing your status on FB. There is another thread on this Topic, but they are probably the pictures that you have seen already. Very frightening.

gallicgirl · 06/08/2011 21:48

Not hot enough for proper riots.

gallicgirl · 06/08/2011 21:54

then again:

JemimaMuddledUp · 06/08/2011 21:55

BBC

AuntieMonica · 06/08/2011 21:55

it's on BBC News 24

sfxmum · 06/08/2011 21:57

so possibly more like disturbances rather than rioting
one of dh's acquaintances, living locally, emailed saying there was a lot of commotion

OP posts:
marimo · 06/08/2011 22:05

In Stamford Hill, so not in immediate area, but lots of sirens earlier and now helicopters...

TanyaBranning · 06/08/2011 22:41

I have friends in Tottenham who say from their window they can see a group of about 200-300 people throwing petrol bombs and uprooted paving slabs at a wall of police cars and vans Sad

JemimaMuddledUp · 06/08/2011 22:45

According to Twitter shops are being looted.

squeakytoy · 06/08/2011 23:00

people on twitter saying the police horseboxes are being unloaded :(

I absolutely hate hate hate seeing the horses being on the front line of violence.. the police choose their job, the poor animals dont :(

peskykitty · 06/08/2011 23:29

It is on sky news now live.

I live not far away.

My children's father lives 2 minutes away.

Very scary, very sad.

Sad
scottishmummy · 06/08/2011 23:31

what a stupid point to make
police dont chose to be potentially attacked, and im not boo hooing about a horse

peskykitty · 06/08/2011 23:34

There are children as young as 8 and 9 in amongst it all.

The reporter is saying that gangs of youths are running from Seven Sisters towards the scene.

LynetteScavo · 06/08/2011 23:38

If you join the police, you know what you are letting yourself in for.

I always feel sorry for the horses, too. They are totally amazing, and I wouldn't call myself an animal lover.

Al0uiseG · 06/08/2011 23:43

A bus has been torched, shops are being looted. It's carnage. The poor horses don't have any choice in the matter, they hardly signed up for Police training.

Tottenham riots, historically, don't end well. What is it about Tottenham??

scottishmummy · 06/08/2011 23:43

no.a desire to do difficult job eg police doesnt mean what you get is to be expected

bizarre logic to boofuckinghoo worried about a horse and be so glib about a mum/dad/brother/sister who is staff,as they knew what they were signing up for

scottishmummy · 06/08/2011 23:46

bemused all the boofuckinghoo what about the horses
get a grip and sense of priority

Al0uiseG · 06/08/2011 23:47

Some people's priority is animal welfare.

Not rioting yobs.

sfxmum · 06/08/2011 23:47

I suppose given the history of the particular area whatever happens will have to be dealt with carefully

OP posts:
Al0uiseG · 06/08/2011 23:49

A woman holding a baby had to be rescued from her flat as it was above shops being looted and torched.

What posesses these people?

scottishmummy · 06/08/2011 23:51

prioritise a horse over staff.wring hands about pony instead of staff
yes,im sure the fuckwits are in tears and turmoil about horse, rather than staff
easier to emotionally big up an animal, than engage about difficult situation staff are in

Al0uiseG · 06/08/2011 23:55

Animals don't have a history of throwing petrol bombs. I'd rather be concerned about their safety than rioting, looting arsonists.

nancy75 · 06/08/2011 23:55

I have to agree with scottishmummy - nobody wants to see horses get hurt but in situations like this my hopes are really that the emergency service staff are ok. As for those of you that say the police know what they are signing up for, what about paramedics and firemen? in riot situations all emergency responders usually come under attack.
