Amused. Grin

The hackers become the hackees !

gailforce1 · 18/07/2011 22:46

Where's Paxman when you need him?

Terribletriplets · 18/07/2011 22:46

'babbling Brooks'
had to have an eye kept on him at parties. He needs a haircut. I am permanently revolted by him since read somewhere (Clarkson?) that he met RB at JC's house and wanted to find out (vomit all round) 'whether the roof was the same as the thatch' (can't remember exact phrase but puke puke puke)

I thought that Sean Hoare was very brave and the only defence from NI at the time was to smear him as an 'alcoholic'. I hope that he is remembered as the first whistleblower, and not in the way he was smeared at the time.

Terribletriplets · 18/07/2011 23:05

Of course David Cameron ought to have continued with his trade mission to Africa. The only future for our economy is exports. Anyone who says otherwise is financially illiterate.

bullet234 · 18/07/2011 23:07

So are they seriously saying that, even if a cleaner did accidentally throw it out, that rather than putting the bag in their dustbin, or in a bag outside their property, they instead walked several yards away and stuffed it in a bin in an underground carpark?

GrimmaTheNome · 18/07/2011 23:09

Quite right, TT.
The decline that's been allowed to happen to our manufacturing & chemical industries is a bigger scandal than all this media malaise.

SpeedyGonzalez · 18/07/2011 23:25

As an aside, I wonder if Murdoch pressurised the PM to hack away at the Beeb budgets more severely than was necessary? He's been trying to sink his teeth into Auntie for years, and the recession would have provided the perfect cover.

Valpollicella · 18/07/2011 23:28

OMG, type the sun into google - it now redirects to LulzSec twitter page!

ThisIsANiceCage · 18/07/2011 23:31

Brooks' laptop story, as far as I can tell, is that:

  1. A friend had his laptop and returned it by leaving it in an underground carpark, right by Brooks' flat. As you do.

  2. A cleaner must have put the laptop in the bin. As you also do. And someone else, possibly another cleaner, saw something that looked like a valuable laptop in a bin and rescued it and took it to security.

  3. Please can I have my laptop back now please. It's got nothing whatsoever to do with my wife's arrest yesterday.

mrsdonkeybucket · 18/07/2011 23:40

Oh what a tangled web we weave.......

drkay · 18/07/2011 23:50

Within this firestorm of revelations, is anyone interested in more scrutiny of politicians? Their connections with private healthcare providers, for instance?

How many have seen through the whitewash that is the non U turn over the NHS? The privatisation agenda is intact. Many politicians and former politicians are set to profit via the private healthcare providers.

Follow this link, and be sickened...

www.powerbase.info/index.php/Private_Healthcare_Network_Map

mrsdonkeybucket asked did we realise how corrupt out politicians were...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/07/2011 06:28

sun gets hacked

BornSicky · 19/07/2011 08:45

Morning. In t minus 3 hours time it's select committee time.

Housework and baby. organisation starts now !

chipstick10 · 19/07/2011 08:49

I am cringing at desperate Ed sitting on the sofa with Lorraine "its greeeet to see you" kelly.

flippinada · 19/07/2011 09:09

I agree it's very sad about Sean Hoare. Poor guy.

Is anyone else starting to feel a bit sickened with it all? I don't mean sick of the news but I'm reeling somewhat with all the news that's coming out. It's the realisation of just how much far this all reaches.

boswelloxsmith · 19/07/2011 09:13

revulsion and anger at being hoodwinked into thinking we lived in a democratic society flippinada

flippinada · 19/07/2011 09:21

That's pretty much it, yeah :(

I'm really sickened by how much power and influence has been handed over (seemingly quite willingly) to someone who is a)not elected and b)not even British.

It's really, really appalling.

AitchTwoOh · 19/07/2011 09:28

i really do think if this story is solely about Murdoch then that misses the point, though (which rather serves the interests of ALL the other papers who were employing these same detectives to hack phones).
what time is it all happening today? i thought it was 2.30 but just saw someone say t-3hr.

flippinada · 19/07/2011 09:37

It's not just about Murdoch I think.

It was to start with but it's just getting murkier and nastier as each day passes.

AitchTwoOh · 19/07/2011 09:47

i really want someone to start looking into the other newspapers and their links with police/politicians, but of course who is going to do that? who watches the watchmen and all that...

boswelloxsmith · 19/07/2011 10:16

interesting point at 9.43 Prescott raising an eyebrow at Cathie Jamieson's exclusion viz the sheridan case.

herecomesthsun · 19/07/2011 10:22

What has Cathie Jamieson got to do with Sheridan? Apart from beig Scottish, possibly? I don't get it.

whitewave · 19/07/2011 10:23

I am so worried that this will go the same way as the Banks - there will be collective amnesia as the politicians/press/police find a scapegoat.

ThisIsANiceCage · 19/07/2011 10:24

drkay thank you for that link. You're right that we need to pay attention to the health paper which came out almost unnoticed last week amidst the hubbub.

And I've had my eye on Mark "the NHS will be shown no mercy" Britnell for a while.

(Civil servant in charge of the privatisation of NHS procuring/commissioning in London - and now, oh look, he's head of health at KPMG who got the contract for that commissioning.)

It would be great if this started a closer examination of the revolving door between the civil service and commercial suppliers (MoD and BAe leap forcibly to mind).
