New thread to continue from God those NoW journos were utter scum weren't they?

OP posts:
londonone · 19/07/2011 15:37

bornsicky - are you aware how big newscorp is? Have you any idea how insignificant this is in th grand scheme of things? Why do you think the CEO should have detailed knowledge of the day to day workings of a tiny part of their business

reelingintheyears · 19/07/2011 15:38

They should have know and if they didn't then they were negligent.

And so was the editor.

They should have been asking where all these fantastic exclusives were coming from and how they were getting them.

Part and parcel of being in charge.

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 15:38

I think it is James' intention to 'blame' RB. As long as it clears him and Dad.

Terribletriplets · 19/07/2011 15:38

If RB is being thrown to the wolves then I hope that they ask about her payoff, in order that the judge can have a rough idea of how much to fine her.
(bangs hand on table to prove personal integrity)

teejwood · 19/07/2011 15:39

londonone if your organisation is being taken through a court of law the executive committee KNOWS. if they don't they should be fired for governance failures.

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 15:39

to reeling

Nancy66 · 19/07/2011 15:39

I'm bored with this...bring on Becs

reelingintheyears · 19/07/2011 15:41

To mrs donkeybucket.

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 15:41

She wont be thrown to the wolves, TT she will turn it back on them, and say that as the two people in charge, they should have known. Buck stops with them, blah blah blah....

BornSicky · 19/07/2011 15:41

yup londonone i am.

but he's denying knowledge on every level - day to day individual company activities through to major strategic/business decisions.

he's also denying knowledge of information relating to criminal and civil proceedings against his staff and cases involving his businesses.

he has previously claimed to take a very hands on approach to his UK businesses.

he's also had 2 years of this case growing and growing to this point and the last two weeks of intense coverage of the events.

so, i simply don't buy his ignorance.

and listening now, the discussion is around "willful blindness".

Terribletriplets · 19/07/2011 15:42

What is the source for Andy Coulson's wages being subsidised after he left NI? This is very important. I had not heard of that. Please elaborate on that or give a link if anyone can. Thx.
(hand on table, etc)

teejwood · 19/07/2011 15:42

ohhhh link to Enron
and i think you'll find that relates to US corporate governance, too, RM and JM...

noddyholder · 19/07/2011 15:42

This has been dull as...if RB decides to 'No comment' dp and ds MAY get dinner tonight

londonone · 19/07/2011 15:42

yes teej and the board of News International all did know, though as far as I am aware News International were not being taken to court.

noddyholder · 19/07/2011 15:42

cough splutter gasp

reelingintheyears · 19/07/2011 15:42

Yeah...

Bring on Becky...

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 15:43

When they closed NOTW they (the M's) made a big point of how important it was to them, and the company. Now, suddenly it becomes just a very tiny part, one that ran itself, with people they trusted implicitly at the helm, to keep them 'in the loop'......1% of worldwide business.

Which is it ?

Terribletriplets · 19/07/2011 15:44

I think that he said that he spoke to RB and RM (most importantly RB) every day. Earlier.
(bangs hand on table, etc)

BornSicky · 19/07/2011 15:44

murdoch "very seldom" spoke to the editors of his UK newspapers, then goes on to say every week for the Times...

Is "not really in touch" with them.

oh bien sur.

clack, clack.

Beveridge · 19/07/2011 15:45

I am a modern studies teacher on mat leave - this is CPD for me!

Loved Tom Watson. This is a total smokescreen by the Murdochs.

Nancy66 · 19/07/2011 15:45

Jaysus - you could drive a horse and cart through the gaps in Rupe's responses....

I hope Wendi is the patient sort

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 15:45

He did - is noted higher up thread, by you, TT Grin

BornSicky · 19/07/2011 15:45

oh and stranded i'm on mat leave

londonone · 19/07/2011 15:46

It's quite funny all you people baying for blood, shame the MPs are not up to much with the qustioning. Sheridan is a joke

Terribletriplets · 19/07/2011 15:46

From memoirs, etc, of PiersM and KelvinM, he DID only speak to them when a big story came up, but I think he said that he spoke to RM daily.
