'A Void' by Georges Perec
Good book.

ThisIsANiceCage · 18/07/2011 14:54

Surely we don't know Yates told lies to the select committee?

There's a lot of untangling of who knew what and when to come yet. And it will take patience and a prolonged effort.

slug · 18/07/2011 14:57

Though, as a side effect, there is now room at the top of the Met for some talented women perhaps.

BornSicky · 18/07/2011 14:58

that's link code for CiF. your web addres goes after the first .

ThisIsANiceCage · 18/07/2011 15:00

Hedley, thanks for that Charlie Brooker article.

OP posts:
bkgirl · 18/07/2011 15:03

I agree Morebeta and I hope Yates tells the truth this time. Frankly it looks like he lied and surely that's perjury. No one should be above the law.No one.

Terribletriplets · 18/07/2011 15:03

(Thx; I will get it at a point in the future; forget about my hijack now, and thx)

back on topic...

yates had to go. He admitted that he didn't thoroughly supervise the first investigation, he didn't take legal advice, he ignored evidence and on and on.

ThisIsANiceCage · 18/07/2011 15:05

slug heh, there's a silver lining! Oh wait, wait, I have another conspiracy theory coming to me now....

It's the wimmin! It woz that Margaret Thatcher wot got so press-conscious, and then NI was taken over by that pernicious, scheming, red-haired bird. And it woz all a conspiracy SO WIMMIN COULD TAKE OVER THE POLICE FORCE!

OP posts:
herecomesthsun · 18/07/2011 15:09

RB has not been found guilty of any criminal offence through due legal process. It doesn't mean she hasn't done anything wrong!

mrsdonkeybucket · 18/07/2011 15:09
Shock

Is DC really a lay-dee ?

Terribletriplets · 18/07/2011 15:13

Does anyone know who 'Rebekah Woods' might be? John P continually will talk of her. For many a day now. Who might RW be?

mrsdonkeybucket · 18/07/2011 15:16

I know ! He's very 'emotional' about it all, isn't he !

I think she may be an amalgamation of R. Wade and R. Brooks ? Maybe RW is her 'nice' persona ?

Terribletriplets · 18/07/2011 15:17

Rebekah Wooks? Rebekah Brade?
ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

teejwood · 18/07/2011 15:18

hedley loving that brooker article - thank you!
norman re the Telegraph story - read other accounts of the Murdoch shindig at the start of the month (not the xmas do) and you'll realise labour MPs were there, too. But the Telegraph doesn't mention them so it looks like a strictly NI/Murdoch/DC cabinet affair. Could that be because the Telegraph thinks the current administration isn't erm - Tory enough for them? (scarey thought, I know!) They have been fairly robust in their criticism of DC.

When we talk about the agendas of various groups coming together on this one, I think the Tory right wing is quite high up the list!

mrsdonkeybucket · 18/07/2011 15:18

On BBC News it says that on a walk about around the Olympic Park, that Tony Blair was asked about the hacking and resignation of PS. He replied that "it is not the time to go into all that now".

Would we believe a word he had to say ?

Terribletriplets · 18/07/2011 15:19

Pron Jescott made good point, but who might the RWoodz be?

mrsdonkeybucket · 18/07/2011 15:20

bkgirl · 18/07/2011 15:22

nope :) but he really does look like a man who looks tortured in a sold his soul sort of way.

Rebekahwoods · 18/07/2011 15:27
Confused
teejwood · 18/07/2011 15:29

bk which one of them are you saying had a soul to sell?
and love the tie in with the charlie brooker piece!

mrsdonkeybucket · 18/07/2011 15:32

RB has said she will appear at SCM tomorrow, along with the Murdoch's.

mrsdonkeybucket · 18/07/2011 15:34

Nick Clegg says that DC should "absolutely not" resign over the 'issues' but it was 'right' that PS did.

He says "this is not about the PM's position" ? WTF Hmm

teejwood · 18/07/2011 15:35

anyone think any political resignations (in terms of advisors etc) will only happen during the summer recess when fewer people are around (politicos and journalists)?
