Waterlooroad - that's a bit unfair. So far, I've been lucky enough to not get ill. But some of my colleagues haven't been so lucky. That doesn't make me any better than them though!

Anyway, it would be general info across a school surely, not individual info. So school A might have had x working days affected by staff absence and school B have y days. It would allow comparison across schools that way but would be pretty futile, I think. One teacher having breast cancer, for example, would skew the school's figures. What would be more telling, is the amount of Friday or Monday absence, perhaps! :)

I can only add to what others have said, this is a ludicrous idea. I dont care who knows how qualified I am or how much I earn, in the same way that I trust my DD's senior management/governors to employ and pay for teachers that will do their job well.

The problem with publishing sickness records is that Mr Public will assume this is due to teachers not coping or stress and make judgements on this

I am currently off school ill; I have struggled in for the past four weeks, feeling like crap, as it was a really important time for some of my classes. I will be returning soon, against my drs advice and before test results come back, as the work is just piling up awaiting my return. I'm ill, not stressed.
We have a number of teachers off at the moment, several with very serious conditions. I hate to think they will be judged.

I am so glad I no longer work in England.

Wish we could have engaged moondog to teach the little boy in our school who was traumatised by having watched his dad murder his mum- and then adjust her pay rate accordingly.

Because it's only poor teaching that matters you know... Hmm If he had failed to make the most of his educational opportunities we would have known that moondog was a poor teacher.

"Tether, SEN generally exist because of poor teaching. That's the whole point."

Moondog, your attitude on this thread stinks. I have always considered your posts to date to be quite sensible. And how can you be a SALT with views like the above post. I am genuinely Shock.

I'll make sure I tell my college that the Autistic boys I teach must have had some TERRIBLE teaching before. They shout, scream, rock, forget what they're doing, say inappropriate things.

I knew there was a simple explanation.

What on earth is the point of this? Assuming that you think your child's teacher takes too much sick leave, is under qualified and over paid, what do you do? Move to another school? Get the teacher sacked?
