I should imagine our infant schools "sick" statistics looked pretty bad the last few years. About 1/2 of the female teachers have had at least one baby in that time, and I know some of them didn't have straightforward pregnancies so had to take time off.

Mind it's managed well at the school (helped by tthe fact I think that there are 6 classes in the school - and 9 qualified teachers (4 are part time), plus I've known the head to step in when needed for a lesson or two as well. So "supply" teachers are rarely used.

This is the Coalition preparing to introduce performance related pay IMO.

They are looking to get rid of teachers' payscales and allow schools to set their own salaries- which will be published along with sick leave and qualification data. You don't need a degree to see where that one's going.

Maybe different as I am in Scotland but our salaries are widely available on t'internet- free to anyone who wishes to google, can't see why a Govt team would be needed...Hmm

What you might find harder to access is what point on the scale Mrs Tick in your school is at.

Caz, you joke, but with more schools able to set their own admissions criteria by becoming academies, they most certainly will be able to reject kids who can't be made into decent sausages.

Teachers already have performance related pay scales.

Many schools, esp at secondary, already list teachings quals in their prospectus. Nowadays most teachers will have a degree and a PGCS, and will have QTS, Even with firther info they really are unlikely to publish full qualifications and career background, neither should they. the basics showing they are a fully qualified teacher should be sufficient.

Sick leave as a general for a school - fair enough. Forr individual teachers - no. Had I still ben teaching (am now a TA) int he past few years I have had a lot of sick leave. Most of it was for the same, personal reason - linked to infertility, but more than just fertility IYSWI and caused by a previous c section. I was then off for 7 weeks at the beg of this year with a nasty case of pneumonia that wouldn't clear. Should my medical health really be up for scurtiny? Shuld I be in a position to have to explain that to parents? Surely if my school and LEA are satisfied with the reasons for my sick leave that should be enough for parents.

2:1 BA in Primary Education, with Qualified Teacher Status

Salary: Main Pay Scale Point 4, (0.6) works out about £16k

Sick Days last academic year: 3 - Pregnancy Related Illness.

I don't really care about where teachers trained or how many sick days they had off. I hope a headteacher can spot a bad teacher a mile away and if a teacher is not doing their job they should be retrained and then fired if they still can't get with the program. If the headteacher can't manage their school ofsted normally picks up on it pretty quickly. I don't see how making this sort of information public adds value.

On the otherhand I wish they would publish where doctors trained and when they qualified.

But your kid is likely to be rejected if there are SEN issues likely to lower the school's GCSE pass rate and position in the league tables...

Well best hope your kids don't have any additional needs or SEN then Moondog as IME many Academies won't consider themselves a "suitable" placement for your child.

PS Salary and sick/parental leave for the past three years if you don't mind.

Aah we don't have the threat of academies - but little would-be private school sausages are certainly rejected all the time.

I see your point re points on the payscale - but can't see why parents would care much!
