OMFG Shock
That is beyond shocking. My daughter has ASD- I don't know whether to cry or be angry at this.

droves · 01/11/2010 14:40

. OH MY FUCKING GOD ! Angry

Its a sorry day when an asd teenager has to put up with the fuckwits who thought up that "cage" .

hope the family kick some fuss up.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 01/11/2010 14:41

Oh my good god.

My lads' first school fenced off the whole infant playground and had 1:1 playtime supervision for them.

Quite apart from the vileness of putting a child in a fucking cage, where's the social interaction.

Unless they're going to get the other kids to feed him peanuts through the bars. Hmm

I am so bloody angry that anyone could think a bloody CAGE in a field acceptable.

droves · 01/11/2010 14:42

....so asd kids dont deserve basic human rights , according to the western isles education department/council ?

Thank fuck we live in fife , where asd children are looked after very well.

droves · 01/11/2010 14:43

ive seen dog kennels with bigger runs than that cage tbh.

Angry
bigcar · 01/11/2010 14:44

omfg who on earth would think that was a good idea Shock He hasn't been outside at school for 6 years, 6 years Shock

skydance · 01/11/2010 14:44

That's awful, it looks like a prison enclosure but tiny, what did they think he was going to do in there it's not even very big.

My children don't have austism and I have no experience but even I can see that's just insulting to the child.

nickytwotimes · 01/11/2010 14:44

bloody hell!

GreenStinkingStumpSleeves · 01/11/2010 14:45

that is heart-wrenching Sad

anotherbrickinthewall · 01/11/2010 14:45

Angry. appalling.

MaMoTTaT · 01/11/2010 14:46

bloody hell - words fail me

byrel · 01/11/2010 14:48

This is terrible

escorchio · 01/11/2010 14:49

Good god. Well at least they've taken it down. Appalling that it got as far as being built though.

coppertop · 01/11/2010 14:49

It's a shame they didn't stick the council in there instead.

tibni · 01/11/2010 14:50

Sickening Sad. Words like inclusion and equality are floating around my head! As a mum to a very low functioning ASD ds I have to say that there are too many people with the "cage" type of mentality as far as our children are concerned.

Hope this gets the outrage that it deserves

GreenStinkingStumpSleeves · 01/11/2010 14:52

I think at least one person should be sacked for this

I can just about imagine if that was my ds1 Sad

shimmerysilverghosty · 01/11/2010 14:58

I actually don't have any words about this Sad. I think I will be depressed for weeks thinking about it.

Blu · 01/11/2010 15:03

WHAT???
Who on earth thought that up?
At least it was dismantled 'immediately'.

shimmerysilverghosty · 01/11/2010 15:06

Yes Green I think I would have been arrested for some kind of public order offence had I been offered that as a "recreational outdoor space" for ds.

2shoes · 01/11/2010 15:09

good god, there would be an out cry if an nt kid was put in there.
sick

Hulababy · 01/11/2010 15:12

It is awful. I can't believe anyone ever thought it would be appropriate to build it int he first olace. It has now been removed - hopefully they will develop a much more suitab;le play area for him now.

StarkAndWitchesWillFindYou · 01/11/2010 16:48

So what happens now? They take it down and the child gets to stay inside for another 6 years?

bratnav · 01/11/2010 16:50

Oh. My. God. ShockAngrySad
