Wolf further to Nutty's comments. I think that inadvertently some children don't quite know how to "do" social play.
They try and play in a group, don't know how to fit in, try and make their mark (ie: licking everyone [blush), which backfires, other children find them (not surprisingly)annoying then ostracise or react to them by lashing out in return. I think this happens in groups rather than in partnerships, I find ds2 behaves perfectly when he is with just one friend or in a structured setting but goes to pieces in large informal groups.
Conversely he is desperate to play with other children and go to their houses and socialize - it's not that he wants to be alone - he seems to find school v. stimulating and fun.
Could you invite one of kids in your ds's nursery round for a play one weekend - he might love that?
Hope train journey nearly over.

Hello, can I come back please?

I have been an attrocious FLYfriend and an awful FLyer, just allowed stuff to get in the way.

But today I've done the home blessing, mopped floors, cleaned bathroom etc etc. House feels better. I'm whacked!

I miss you all very much Lx

Nuttybear · 30/04/2010 12:09

Grouchy Welcome back & join us on some days of fake flying. To repeat Fling stuff stuff in cupboards & spray the rooms with polish

Makingchanges · 30/04/2010 13:22

I love the fake flying idea. It is what i complain at DH for doing though when he in on a mission

I have played with DD all morning - she really needs to find a new game though, I am fed up of hair dresser, nail polisher and face painter. She has had lunch (1 hour for a sandwich again ) and has been deposited at nursery. I have been and done shopping only to find the the whole of Sheffield has decended on my local shopping centre - a nightmare.

To Do

  • Sign language notes that didn't get time to do yesterday.
  • 30 minutes treadmill
  • hoover lounge - yet more ants - I don't know what to do with them its costing a small fortune in ant spray and they only disappear for a few days
  • Pick DD up from nursery
  • Make tea - Chicken and prawn jumalaya for tea - I've never made it before so praying it goes ok
  • Take books back to library (but may carry that forward to tomorrow)

I've feeling constantly tired and yesterday feel asleep on the settee after tea for the second time this week. I may look into booking an appointment at Docs next week. Between this and feeling pretty low its making things hard to get done

Hope everyone has a good day. Welcome back grouchy BBL

swanriver · 30/04/2010 14:14

There are four bags of rubbish in hall, that must be a good sign
bathroom cleaned
sheets changed
washing done
kitchen still in need of something not sure what - commitment? sorted loads of drawers, chucked clutter ruthlessly, ate a few mingy scraps to try and reduce rubbish in fridge

my pamper day has evaporated again but house was making me so depressed thought I better give up plans to shop or exercise.
Friend visited and confirmed that Lego models take over and not to fret about it.

Next after school take dd singing lesson
short talk with fellow catechist at 3.00
try not to feel so tired and grumpy - I do not know what has got into me.

Hi Grouchy, hope where you are is blooming

Makingchanges · 30/04/2010 15:53

Swan join the club - I feel tired and grumpy all the time.

Well my afternoon hasn't gone too well. I decided to to the exercise first and my treadmill made a loud noise and died on me - I've only had it two weeks and only used it three times I'm going to get DH to call the company as on the website it says that we need to take it to them to fix. It nearly killed DH and friend to get it upstairs and for it to break so soon I think DH needs to kick up a bit of fuss.

So I did get some other exercises done but i've wasted a good chunk of time faffing to try and find out what is wrong with it. And now the incline is stuck so it won't fold away (and actually if it won't wold away we can't get it out of the room)

Right gonna clean out fridge and put some washing on. I'm trying to resist the urge to eat some of DD's easter eggs that are still looking at me.

DD is upset as school have sent home a bag for donations of old clothes etc - she says she is saving hers for her babies Sometimes she can be so cute

Ruby I'm sure you look lovely. Good idea, enjoy the alcohol, surely lots of alcohol will numb the pain anyway. Enjoy your night out.

Jumbalya turned out lovely, even if DH was 1.5 hours late home Need to tidy kitchen then think i'm going to put my feet up, watch a bit of telly and have an early night.

Back tomorrow

OverflowingMum · 30/04/2010 20:46

Evening all
ruby alcohol is great for toothache! Enjoy

GO hellooo good to see you

MC was that crystal peaks? glad I went yesterday in that case LOL and yes, get yourself to the doctors. Hope you feel bit better soon. Be gentle on yourself.

swan sorry you didnt get your pamper day.de-cluttering sounds good though.

have spoken to sister on phone. Now cross because she is pestering for a minute by minute itinary for her visit, then makes insinuations about the state of my house(her house is immaculate...BUT she has 1 child, they are all out all week and she has a cleaner)
Told her if my house bothers her that much, she doesnt have to visit (she invited herself LOL)
Anyway...off for wine,then earl night

BBtomorrow

Wolfcub · 30/04/2010 21:41

ruby you will look great. I find legless is generally a good cure for anything!!!!!!
grouchy good to see you, I'm not doing any real cleaning at the moment, I'm just trying to survive. Would love to see you when we get back, I can torture you with photos!!!!

dylsmum1998 · 30/04/2010 21:58

Evening all, just flying past so i don't loose you all.

very busy with uni, one more assignment to write by thursday and then I am done! its feeling good

will catch up properly over weekend but I have been working solidly on assignments/garden etc all week and am shattered so going for an early night

OP posts:
swanriver · 30/04/2010 22:39

OFM I love your family I'm sure your sister is just a bit cautious in temperament and was not really meaning to be tactless. Your niece must adore visiting her cousins! Is she your younger sister?

everything is tidyish, dh is shocked
well except master bedroom paperwork and garden but I feel much better for it, and am actually looking forward to the long weekend instead of seeing it as a series of battles to get things done.

Dylsmum, gardens are lovely but v. timeconsuming. But this IS the busiest time.

Good night all.

wendyhappysmile · 01/05/2010 08:51

Hiya everyone Wolf poor you, hope you get a successful meeting with nursery. When is the big day anyway?
dyls sounds like you are very busy, take care
ruby how's the tooth and the hangover?! LOL
OFM Just don't worry about the state of the house like you say your sister would soon learn if she had more children and spent more time at home! My house always used to be immaculate with one child too, and I worked three days too, so wasn't in those days.
MC hope you're ok, sorry about the treadmill, that's bad luck. Get out and about lots and get lots of fresh air etc to make you feel better!
hi Grouchy nutty def no men on this thread. Don't think flying suits men much!
hi to anyone else.
Still feeling the pain of the nausea 24/7, and now look fat as well!! Haven't put on any weight but suddenly I look very fat indeed. Ho hum. Wish I had lost the 9 lbs I put on in Nov/Dec/Jan before getting pregnant!
off to get passport photos done this morning. We are off to France in August, with two days at Disneyland Paris - I know some of you have been so I need all your tips!
love to all xx

Wendy if you haven't got a bugg take a trolley. I know, I know I hated walking with my Mum when she had hers and hated pulling it. BUT its so useful.
DH has left for College reunion in Matlock so only little Bear and me until Monday. Right I'm going to take him off the telly in a bit and go into town.
So they weekend sounds like this
Art club from 1.30pm -3pm for Little Bear with mates
Movie night with popcorn early evening
Morning Columbia Rd Flower Market (he'll moan but hey!) by Public transport & trolley. (that should controll my spending.
Swimming on Monday. Have you noticed no flying
Have a good time folks

grouchyoscar · 01/05/2010 14:19

Wolf would love to see you too. (I can bore you about Mr Lightbory...what? I already have, oh sorry)

Taking it too too easy today, catching up on my e-mails and surfing. I have bought Kagouls for me and DH for the trip to Glasgow, I'm preparing for every eventuality

Hope all are well and DCs being great

scattyspice · 01/05/2010 17:41

grouchy when do you go to Glasgow? (Exciting).

OFM I agree with swan, your sis is probably because she knows her dd will have a ball at yours .

Went out for tea last night (en famile) not uneventful! Will tell later as tea's ready.

OverflowingMum · 01/05/2010 18:16

evening all

Yes, my neice loves seeing all her cousins!! She is just 6 mnths older than dd4
We are her only cousins as there is just meand my sis from our family and BIL is an only child. Good job there's a lot here!

swan my family's mad LOL and yes,my sis is 3 yrs younger

am going to remain calm about visit (tomorrow and monday)

Have had busy day....done some tidying and sorting....
ever going washing sorting/catch up
big tidy of my room and stripped bed

Then have weeded front garden, done some
pruning and planted a couple of shrubs. Also peered hopefully at veg patch in back...spotted a couple of seedlings..yey LOL

Then went for walk around woods and dyke with dh,dc and dog. Managed to get back just before the rain LOL

DC fed...freezer left over supply!
Now need to thnk of something for me and dh!

wendy hang in there...the worst is nearly behind you!France sounds lovely, and DLP will be great! (very tiring, but fab fun for dc!)will come back nearer time with all sorts of tips LOL

scatty oh..what happened? nothing too bad I hope....did involve wet knickers?!?!

nutty flower market sounds wonderful

scattyspice · 01/05/2010 19:26

wet knickers would have been easier OFM!

We were in a busy cafe/restaurant, our food had just arrived. Ds needed the toilet but unfortunately didn't quite get there in time! Dh was in the gents toilet cleaning DS up while I was in the ladies toilet scrubbing his jeans under the tap, meanwhile dd (sitting all alone at the table) calmly called a waitress over and ordered ice cream! . Then we had to go home on the bus with DS wearing soaking wet jeans and his coat tied round his waist. I think it will be a while before we go to that cafe again (or any cafe for that matter!).

Nuttybear · 01/05/2010 21:55

Cut grass today and going to check weather. I think I've changed my mind about flower market too far away on public transport & Ds will moan that I haven't invited friends along!! I think a spot of hanging around in our garden instead and planting veg seeds

swanriver · 01/05/2010 23:06

Nutty [relieved]thank you for staying at home I was just beginning to feel like I should be making a more elaborate plan for tomorrow East seems as far as Oxford from here. my dd NEEDs friends to enjoy everything too.
Scatty Dd was enjoying herself though!

calm pleasant evening here - off to bed now

Nuttybear · 02/05/2010 08:42

It is now pouring with rain. So glad I ditched the market. Naughty/lovely Mummy depending on your view point is allowing Little Bear to watch tooo much telly.
Okay square up the house I think crafts and sort out the toy box instead.
