November Slatterns/Listmakers - one year on and still taking baby steps.........

1000 replies

alwayslookingforanswers · 31/10/2009 23:39

Yes - Slatterns (now Slatterns and Listmakers) is now a year old.

Come and join us if you're a slattern, or simply like making lists for jobs you want to get done each day/week/month.

Never thought 12 months ago that a thread I started to help me get the bare minimum done at home when I was feeling shite would still be going strong 12 months later - even with me frequently AWOL in recent months.

Everyone is welcome, we're a friendly bunch.

Hello lovely ladies

I hope everyone is well. Sorry i have been slacking, but with DH off work my time is not my own and i have to fight him for the laptop anyway Anyway, he is back to work tomorrow so normal service can resume.

Been very busy this week, Ikea, Cinema, Lunch out and today i have competed both of my horses 3rd and 4th (very pleased) We have moved DD into a toddler bed (instead of a cot) which is going ok, although she is looking so tired where she is not going straight to sleep because she is unloading her bookshelf, filling her bed with everypair of socks she owns etc.....

Anyway, i have a friend coming over for lunch on wednesday for the first time and want the house looking half decent. Will be on tomorrow morning (or maybe this evening) with a list

SparklyAlice · 22/11/2009 19:51

So, dilemma;

We have had a good clear out upstairs to toddler proof DD's room, so the hall and stairs are packed full of stuff. There is now a wardrobe full of loft stuff taking up most of the bathroom. Do i

a)Bag/box stuff up and put it in the wardrobe in the bathroom and shut it in til the weekend when DH is about to put in loft

or

b)Cancel friend this week?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/11/2009 20:01

Alice - a)definitely. Life is too short to not see your friends just because your house isn't perfect! Also, that your bathroom is big enough to have a wardrobe in!

DONE
Clear up dining room
Extras chairs back into the garage
Hoover downstairs
Load dishwasher and tidy kitchen
Ocado order for tomorrow morning
Dinner
Strip our bed and wash sheets
Put on another wash
DS bath and bed

TO DO
Shopping list for John Lewis tomorrow
Re-make our bed
Clear up
Fold washing

Change cot bedding - tomorrow

SparklyAlice · 22/11/2009 20:10

thanks Ali we are quite lucky with our bathroom, it still has a fireplace in (its not huge, just big enough) but funny shape unfortunately.

If any of the slatterns were ever passing you would be welcome to pop in for wine tea and cake (as long as i had at least a weeks notice )

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 22/11/2009 20:31

Everyones been busy, quick catch up...

Wow SparklyAlice you've been really busy this week! Going into a toddler bed is a big step well done your DD. She will hopefully get used to the freedom of her new bed soon. We still hear DS pottering about in his room after he has been put to bed but he loves his big boy bed and will go to sleep after he has messed about a bit.

Well done JKS in reducing your Ongoing list, I bet you can think of something else to put on there though .

Wasting sounds like progress with DS. How old is he? I am noticing that if you repeat things often enough DS (3) will eventually do them although you do turn in to a nag .

LOL at Plums MIL 'hippo in the bath' cake

I had cabin fever after spending virtually the entire week in the house so we went out all day today which has been brilliant. As it has been pissing it down raining a lot we took DS on a waterfall tour in the car then went to a soft play place and a cafe for lunch. Am so chuffed as DS ate 3 peas (first time EVER) in return for sweets. Hopefully it is the start of him eating some veg!

DD has awful eczema on her face. Not sure what to put on it - any ideas??

Will find my list for tomorrow and be back shortly...

SparklyAlice · 22/11/2009 20:42

HMHB i got some cream from a company doing a trial on MN and it is amazing. It is basically just a runny emolliant but seems to be doing really well. Not sure it is available yet. Waitrose solid coconut massage oil softens skin up a treat too. It is ok for new babies too i think

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 22/11/2009 20:45

JKS - DS is fine now, just seems to have bad guts but was still in a good mood. No one here has had the SF jab yet here although DH is supposed to have it soon as is a SN teacher and classed as a frontline carer.

Tomorrow's List

SparklyAlice · 22/11/2009 20:59

HMHB have you tried using the MN meal planner template?

PlumBumMum · 22/11/2009 21:12

lol JKS I did consider that but she has a good sense of humour and think she will love it

HMHB dd2 is really bad on her arms at the minute you can get a cream called Aveeno on prescription its billiant I've been using it for ages on my hands, only found out recently about getting it on prescription as its £££££, although I stopped using everything and hers is bad again so am using hydrocotosine at the min to try and knock it out

Alice sounds like ur having a lovely time
Agree with Ali I'm sure your friend won't mind

wiped over & tidied kitchen(iclucing oven)
load dishwasher

arrggghhh I thought I got more done than that

PlumBumMum · 22/11/2009 21:13

although helped dd1 make pancakes for lunch and ds & dd2 helped me make batter for homemade nuggets, it was yummy

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 22/11/2009 21:15

ooh thanks sparkly will look out for coconut oil or something. We have got diprobase cream (or disco-base as it is know in our house) which we have been using but can't tell much difference since using it.

SparklyAlice · 22/11/2009 21:38

Its also good for coating dry hair in overnight seriously though, it makes skin feel very plump and smooth. It is solid though, so you need to dig it out then rub between palms then use

wastingaway · 22/11/2009 22:18

Evening ladies!

HMHB - DS is 18 months old. He's a very determined little chap, but I think if I'm persistent and consistent, we'll be ok.
It's v. good that you got out, I know cabin fever really gets me down.

Well done at the competition Alice! Busy weeks are the best.
Agree that your friend won't mind, but stick it all in the wardrobe anyway.

Plum, the cake sounds fab!

Ali, sounds like a good weekend.

CC, hope you enjoyed the break.

Had a lovely day on the whole today. MIL popped round in the morning with DN for a visit and then pub lunch, as per usual, followed by watching the footie (reading PILs River Cottage cookbook for me) while DS did colouring in.
