November Slatterns/Listmakers - one year on and still taking baby steps.........

1000 replies

alwayslookingforanswers · 31/10/2009 23:39

Yes - Slatterns (now Slatterns and Listmakers) is now a year old.

Come and join us if you're a slattern, or simply like making lists for jobs you want to get done each day/week/month.

Never thought 12 months ago that a thread I started to help me get the bare minimum done at home when I was feeling shite would still be going strong 12 months later - even with me frequently AWOL in recent months.

Everyone is welcome, we're a friendly bunch.

Oh dear Wasting

claireybepositive · 19/11/2009 18:42

Oh dear WME, not what you need when you are already poorly.

We have really bad condensation here, it's awful. Watch out for any furniture that's against walls, last year our headboard and ds' cot mattress went mouldy. Hopefully next house won't have the same problem. I've not tried leaving the heating in though, mainly because I have all the upstairs windows open all day!

HMHB weather sounds awful, we've just had strong wind here, hung some washing out and although I was scared the washing line was going to fly away the washing was dry 3 hours later-not bad for november!

claireybepositive · 19/11/2009 18:43

Hello everyone just a quick post to say hi and hope your all ok.

We are all a snotty mess here two girls with sf and I am really ill now too.

Hopefully we will all better next week til the next bug hits.

ThisTooShallPass · 19/11/2009 19:37

Aww thanks! I'll write myself a list then...

I will not be getting addicted, or at least I hope not. I spend far too much time on here already

Help yourselves in the meantime

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 19/11/2009 19:47

Wasting - yes north wales. Eeek for you re oil on the floor! Nightmare to clean up. Can imagine your DS paddling it round the house. We have child lock things on the cupboards and DS has got bored of trying to get in them now (thankfully) so we don't have to have them on anymore.

Plum - I bet your 'thrown together' cake was gorgeous. I am quite proud of DS's and I's chocolate fairy cakes from yesterday. Gorgeous tasting anyway.

ThisTooShallPass - it's a slippery slope, join us for one day and you could be here with us forever . I barely do anything but blah on about stuff to the poor slatterns dears on here.

JustKeepSparkling · 19/11/2009 20:47

All i will say is NAILS?????

Are you sure you want to bang nails into the wall for a party? blu-tack or something else won't do?
drape decorations from existing things, like any picture hooks?

and no you've haven't killed the thread, think most of us collapse in a heap in the evenings!

ThisTooShallPass · 19/11/2009 20:56

lol. I'm also collapsed in a heap. Really shouldn't be though.

Yup nails. Last year I had a hellish day trying to put up the damn bunting (is traditional here). I tried blu tac and drawing pins, even sellotape in the end. Nothing worked. Every time I thought it was up another bit fell down x 1000. Six patches of paintwork were ruined... It really way a saga. In the end DP put some tiny nails in. Hey presto, the bunting stayed up.

I am going to have to put up bunting 4 times a year from now on . So I'm trying to think of discrete but permanent bunting placement system

The nails I mean have a particular name, can't remember it for the life of me though...

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 19/11/2009 21:37

I am here too. Have collapsed.

DH suggests dowl nails or tac's as the name for the tiny nails.

ThisToo - Don't worry we will keep an eye on your progress through your massive list. We can also offer encouragement kicks up the bum. Good luck.

wastingaway · 19/11/2009 21:51

I too have collapsed. Though I need to get going again.

To do this evening -

  • clean kitchen floor
  • wash pots
  • wipe sides down
  • put nappies in to wash
  • empty bathroom bin
  • pick up in front room
  • take clean washing up
  • strip sofa covers off

I've been sat supping Lemsip for an hour and feel a little calmer than I did.

wastingaway · 19/11/2009 22:39
