My first thread .

OP posts:
jenduck · 15/10/2009 10:19

Hi all, not been on in a while I'm afraid & haven't really had chance to read the thread. Am having a crappy week, DH has worked late 2 nights this week & left 2 hours early one morning & is likely to have late night tonight plus early morning & late night tomorrow - it's not like he gets paid loads at all, though he is getting 2 days off next week in lieu, which nowhere near make up for the extra time he has worked this week . Sometimes I really hate his job! DS has another stinking cold which makes me feel guilty, and I have just discovered a letter DH got through from Admiral yesterday saying car insurance lapsed last Thursday . I just hope he has other insurance sorted out, but he hasn't mentioned anything to me. Plus is TOTM (sorry if TMI!) and I seem to really suffer since DS born, didn't even notice them before! Anyway, rant over, promise to try & post more cheerfully from now, am aware of not having been most positive poster to this thread - is just good to feel I can vent, though!

Am trying Norks way of listing, so here goes!

Lol at your mum PBM

HMHB I expect a live labour thread if this is it, updates on every twinge etc

Exciting Alice! Very too.

Feeling a bit less tired today, only had to get up to ds 6 times last night.

scaryclaireyboo · 15/10/2009 10:41

Just so I use all the smileys

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 15/10/2009 10:50

jenduck - sounds like you are having a rough time. Feel free to vent here. A positive list sounds like a good idea too. Looks like you have done loads already.

scaryclaireyboo - twinges not v exciting at the moment. My mum has gone to get chocolate since we have both decided it is vital during labour.

Right...I have an urge to make ginger biscuits..

OP posts:

Have had a bit more of a read-through now! HMHB how exciting - hope it is the real thing! Just take it easy like the doctor said! Alice, also exciting news for you! We are thinking of TTC after Christmas. Clairey, I really admire you - I don't know how you manage to get up 6 times a night! If I get up once, I'm done for! Is this a regular thing or just a phase (pardon my ignornance if you've explained elsewhere on the thread & I have missed it!)Also how old is DS [nosey emoticon]?

Have thought of some more things to add to list

Jen he is 22 months, never really been a good sleeper. As a baby he screamed incessantly, would only sleep for 20 mins at a time then scream for another couple of hours-it was a complete nightmare and I was a total zombie! Recently he has been sleeping all night most nights (but still waking early)but he has a bad cough and cold so has been up a lot again. 6 times was a vast improvement on the couple of nights before that

FlameWithTooManyHormones · 15/10/2009 12:29

DH went to collect DS from preschool (like he has every Thursday for most of this term), and they asked him if he was there for a reason... he was completely confused and said to pick up DS They had to explain they meant was I in labour.

sweetgrapes · 15/10/2009 12:50

jenduck · 15/10/2009 18:15

Welcome to the newbies! Sweetgrapes, Diwali celebrations sound so exciting. DH is from Leicester, where there is a fairly large Hindu population I believe, so they put lights up in the street in the area where most Hindus live now, for Diwali, and leave them up until Xmas. Beautiful.

HMHB - keep bouncing on that ball! They really help, I found.

Alice, I think you are great for coping on so little sleep for so long, I am glad DS is and always has been a good sleeper otherwise I could not consider any more! Hope your DS' cold improves soon.

JustBeBuffy - The place I am on maternity leave from dealt with Direct Payments! They are such a good scheme, and I have seen & spoken to so many people who have benefited so much, not just financially, but the flexibility this allows too. I was in payroll/accounts so dealing with paying PAs (carers) & agencies. You're not in Essex by any chance, are you, the DP scheme is really successful here

Back on the ball.

Twinges stopped for a bit when DS came home from school. Probably because its been a bit stressful with news that they might not be able to carry on with the local nursery (which would scupper any back to work plans). I don't want to think about this now!

Then we've been trying to work out what to do with DS when I go to hospital i.e what time to call out M+FIL etc. I could do with it just magically getting sorted out so I can focus on relaxing / dealing with contractions.

SpookyAlice Got to go to hospital as had ECS last time. Would love a home birth but will make the most of all available drugs.

for you HMHB. Aching lots here, but nothing proper happening.

Some woman at swimming decided to share with me her horrendous birth story. Why would you do that?!?!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 15/10/2009 19:12

There's nothing like hearing a horrendous birth story for putting you in the mood for labour .
