Spanking new Flybaby "nursery" thread - learn how to Fly for the month of September only

Countingthegreyhairs · 31/08/2009 13:42

Hello. Does anyone want to join/re-join us for a mutual "kick-up-the-bum" motivational thread starting tomorrow 1st September?

[Then we can join the main Flying threads thereafter if we want to.)

We did the same throughout August

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/good_housekeeping/799866-starting-tomorrow-accelerated-flying-for-month-of-Augu st-only

and it has really helped but being confirmed slatterns extreme cases we feel the need to repeat the exercise throughout September too. We need to declutter, organise, tidy and clean and generally get our lives under control.

All newcomers welcome!

Oh early what a horrid horrid day.

Good job it's magazine reading day tomorrow - you deserve a sit down!

HelenHighwater · 09/09/2009 22:34

Oh I really need to join you all if it's not too late??

I'm starting studying full-time next week and have to get a handle on the house before it descends into mayhem.

Decluttering is my nemesis and having a 2yo pulling things out as quick as I can tidy shove them in random cupboards/drawers doesn't help.

optimisticmumma · 10/09/2009 08:08

Morning everyone!

Team Edward - so sorry you aren't well. I'd get DH to shine your sink for you and do the magazine reading as a very large step.. Hope you feel better soon.

Early - hope you have a better day today.

Slightly off the wagon as I'm sitting here looking at my draining board which is full of 'stuff'. In my defence it was washed up before the station run and will be put away in a minute. Have just noticed another major hotspot - the inside of my car!! Anyone else's DC use theirs as a mobile fridge/bin/wardrobe??

Today I am going to try and do
15mins of my paperwork pile
put away ironing from yesterday
cook tea in advance

have a good day fellow flyers.

deepdarkwood · 10/09/2009 09:51

Hi guys
Early - hope you & your dh are doing OK this morning - what are the next steps for him?
And hope you're not too piggy today, teamedward - an extra few doses of todays step for you!

Not a very successful days flying here yesterday - dd vomiting pretty solidly from 4am to 5pm, had to try and sort out a quote for a new client in between, and then was running our book club in the morning.

Even after just a couple of days of flying, I noticed how much more stressy things were this morning having lapsed yesterday. Here's to a better day today for everyone (apart of tmbi who sounds to be going great guns )

PS I can proudly say my understairs cupboard is never a mess.
I aint got one.
My-by-the-backdoor cupboard on the other hand...

Countingthegreyhairs · 10/09/2009 12:05

Just dashing in and out to say sorry to hear about your dh EarlyOneMorning. How are things today?

A warm welcome to HelenHighwater - just dive in with today's step and you can find the previous nine here:
www.flylady.net/pages/begin_babysteps.asp

Hope your dd is feelingbetter today DeepDarkWood and anyone else who is suffering/struggling

Here's tomorrow's step (for Friday September 11th) in case I don't get to it later:

frankly I am ignoring this one and using it as a review/catch up day!

Keep going everyone ....

Oh gosh, it's all fallen apart!

Have fallen off the flying wagon (and the weight watchers wagon simultaneously) with a bump. Will try to pick up both tomorrow before I get fat _and slobby.

hungrierhippo · 10/09/2009 14:13

Please please write your inspirational phrases here instead of in your journal - much more fun.

Can I have Quentin Crisps' 'after 6 years the dust doesn't get any worse!'

havingagiraffe · 10/09/2009 19:27

So sorry to hear about your DH early How odd and as you say totally unfair, you just don't expect it with someone so active. Hope he gets better soon and well done for maintaining your cool and continuing to fly - I am impressed.

Not much flying going on here today as out most of the day with my ante-natal pals but did manage to do my morning jobs before I went and shine the sink. Also got dinner on table on time and a second load of washing on and out but haven't done many more steps.

Also a stationary addict, especially at this time of year so may treat myself to a binder and nice paper, although still not totally clear what is going in it.

mygoodmorning · 10/09/2009 19:53

Managed to keep my sink shiny.

Loaded my dishwasher

Got my clothes out last night and then dressed this morning.

Got my sink shiny again this morning after the kids had trashed the kitchen even managed to vac the bits of breakfast off the floor. Unheard of first thing.

Then tonight had my Dad for tea and so whilst sitting and chatting did a HUGE pile of ironing. Put it away and just need to sort out the laundry room.

So not bad going for me.

Hope everyone is ok especially with poorly family.

deepdarkwood · 10/09/2009 20:26

Blimey, that is scary early - does feel really unfair doesn't it? Is there any history in his family, or is it totally random? I'm also hugely impressed still doing such a great job flying, when one day of vomiting child floored me

Right, nothing on the tele, so I'm off to do some shining and sorting, and hoping for an early night.

My inspirational phrase is "A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step" Lao-tzu (a mis-interpretation I think, but never mind...)

BrokkenHarted · 10/09/2009 20:31

Going to join in late. Need to sort my attitude towards housework (which is 'I dont need to do it, DH will')

Sorry to hear your bad news Early

elliepac · 10/09/2009 21:02

Evening all, sorry i haven't checked in for a couple of days but am having a slightly bonkers week as childminder is on holiday (how very dare she?!) and so have DS with one grandma taking him to school and then have to take DD to other grandma for the day.

Early, sorry to hear about your DH, hope he's ok and that you are looking after yourself as well.

TeamEdward, I hope you are feeling better soon.

CTGH, you are my guiding light, thank you and hello to everyone else

Having fallen off the wagon, I am slowly crawling back on. My sink is shiny, I have cleared one hotspot by the way of the pantry which wasn't a pantry anymore but a dumping ground particularly for laundry that I -couldn't- -be- -arsed- didn't have time to put away. Myst get myself a binder tomorrow because I actually think that will really help me.

I am very envious of those of you who are truly flying and would be rather interested to see how those of you who work full time are going because i need to know if there really aren't enough hours in the day or if I am just a lazy slattern . Have a sneaking suspicion it may be the latter .

Have a fab day tomorrow one and all.

walkthedinosaur · 10/09/2009 21:06

Things seem to be going well here, all laundry done and put away, I have decluttered my bedroom now, you can see the floor and everything!

Have had furniture polish on my list to buy for about 6 weeks and forgot again today, so didn't bother to dust but maybe I'll get round to it tomorrow.

Sink still shining, dining room table still clear, but most places are really starting to look presentable.

Have a busy weekend looming so hopefully won't slip off the rails too much.

elliepac · 10/09/2009 21:10

am very impressed walkthedinosaur, very well done you

Polish? What's that?

HelenHighwater · 10/09/2009 22:00

Thanks countingthegreyhairs and hope your Dh recovers quickly, early.

I feel a bit late in the game as I only started last night I only started this night but

Sink as been kept shiney.

Quick 5 minutes of bedroom clearing and changing sheets and 15mins cleared my major hotspot areas - dining room, especially the table and kitchen corner.

Quick vac downstairs.

My mum did say the house looked well today so something must be working

McDreamy · 10/09/2009 22:03

Oh dear I did so well at the beginning and was really beginning to feel in control and I've let go and it's all collapsed around me Feel so crap and out of house control

fruitstick · 10/09/2009 22:10

I have started laying the breakfast table before bed. The mornings no longer consist of me flying around the kitchen looking for bowls, spoons, bibs, 3 types of cereal and 2 types of milk.

Gold star please

Today slipped a little but I'm hoping to catch up tomorrow whilst thinking inspirational thoughts!

deepdarkwood · 10/09/2009 22:55

McDreamy - falling off the wagon ain't a problem ... you just get back on tomorrow and try again (serial flylady failure speaking from experience )

Impressed with the breakfast out plan, fruitstick

McDreamy · 10/09/2009 23:04

Sorry about that - my "woe is me" is over! I have kicked myself up the butt and shined my sink! At least I am coming down to freshly brewed coffee and an empty sink

Bigboots · 11/09/2009 05:27

Am up and about at 5 due to snory, fidgety, DH. Am determined to use the time to get back on track!!! Sorry to hear about your DH Early - it does seem unfair. Know how you feel as my 41 yr old fit, healthy, outdoor centre manager husband had a STROKE completely out of the blue last year. It's seems that sometimes these things are completely random and none of the usual risk factors need be present. Hope all's well.

optimisticmumma · 11/09/2009 08:20

Hi all. Am also up early again. My DC go to school at 750 so I am trying to get on here before I start my day. Fine when I'm not working.
Like you, Ellie, I wondered if the FLYing was practical if you work fulltime. I guess if it really does stay manageable it's OK but if it cranks up you could end up exhausted!. Anyone done this before and worked full time???

Am dressed to flipflops!
Sinks are shiny.
Hotspot done.
More decluttering before I go shopping. Have to say my decluttering needs to be more than 15mins to have any impact!!

Need to:
sort out airing cupboard
wash rugby kits
do more ironing
sort out tea.

Hope DH and you are getting over the shock of his DVT. Early.
Sorry to hear about your DH. Bigboots. What a shock it must have been. With luck your life has settled down a bit since then.
