Haha! No, just lifted up the duvet and dropped DS in next to me while I was still two-thirds asleep

I do want to go to this wedding this evening, but I can't be arsed to go through the process of getting sorted to go. Really must shift myself....

JustKeepSwimming · 15/08/2009 14:56

We often find the things we really don't want to go to end up being the most fun

  • handyman finish all jobs Doing
  • laundry (try and finish it today) + ironing + putting away LASTLoadForNowIn
  • lunch DONE
  • tidy kitchen
  • afternoon activity? - paddling pool?

+ other stuff as i think of it!

  • buy some cheap photo albums (Factory Shop trip)

Afternoon all

Ali i think you will really enjoy an evening out, go for it!

DD is much better thank you, she hasn't got much of an appetite but has been playing happily enough most of the day. She is currently tacking allof the nappies out of the pack, but she is happy and quiet!

I have changed my name for a few reasons really. I kind of fancied a bit of a change, but really liked my name, so kept one of my horses names. It is NaughtyAlice because when i was pg, a friends DD used to follow me around and of course i had to watch what i said around her (she was only 3) so when my horse was being naughty, we called her Naughty Alice (rather than some of the alternatives) and this girl started calling her rocking horse NA too.

I also want a clean start now.

I know it is silly, but this whole DM thing and the thing with Wasting the other day has got me a bit paranoid. Anyone who knows me at all, knows what my horses are called and as one horse (Crail) is only on permanent loan, and doesn't belong to me the owners could take him back at any point. Imagine them reading something in the paper to do with my depression/sex life/moon cup and having their horses name attached. Could be a bit

So, not very exciting, but there you have it!

NaughtyAlice · 15/08/2009 15:32

God!! Look at the typos! So sorry but i am not used to this little sleep

Meant to add, that Crail is a very unusual name.

PlumBumMum · 15/08/2009 15:49

Right I have hung out a wash

I feel like I have so much to do
don't know where to start
I have tipped a pile of bleach down the toilets so think I will go finish cleaning bathroom & ensuite

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 15/08/2009 15:52

Alice that thing with wasting was so weird - do you think it was someone she knows or just a horrid troll winding her up? Awful either way .

JKS - I think we need a handyman. There are a number of small DIY-type jobs that are piling up that DH hasn't had time to do - I want him to spend time with me and DS at the weekends not back and forth to B&Q!

I feel a bit better now, just had a spurt of energy and cut DH's hair, cleaned the kitchen and hoovered through downstairs. I have also sorted what I'm wearing - a very boring jersey empire line dress, but I have some fabulous red slingback heels to wear with it, and by the time I've straightened my hair and put on some makeup I'll look presentable at least!

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 15/08/2009 16:17

Ali - sounds good
(what happened with Wasting? missed it whatever it was)

Oh and NA - i haven't really followed the whole DM thing - some MNetter talking about us or something? can't face reading the whole 2 (or is it 3 now?) threads!
sure most people who know me could find me on here too but they might find my daily lists boring enough to put them off me

Our handyman is a Godsend! He does a day load of jobs for £100 so we save up jobs for a list worth a day then he comes and blitzes them

To Do:

  • handyman finish all jobs DONE
  • laundry (try and finish it today) SortedDryStuff
  • tidy kitchen MostlyDone
  • afternoon activity - painting with new set that came with my eBay bundle DONE
  • boys tea
  • hang last load out
  • boys to bed + put away their clean clothes
  • our dinner
  • ironing + put away our clothes
  • earlyish night

Ongoing:

  • get photos of family & hang them up
  • buy some cheap photo albums (Factory Shop trip)
  • buy new filofax pen
  • get on with friend's family tree
  • transfer all family trees over to Mac software
  • then go through 1911 census (again)
  • toilet train DS1
  • list last item to sell on eBay
  • sort out a wireless phone system (try out old wireless phone first at a temporary fix) PhoneCharged&Working so DONE for now

ithinkmydaughterispeppapig · 15/08/2009 17:30

Is the DM thing to do with the column in the Daily mail thread? I've just stipped it!!

NaughtyAlice · 15/08/2009 18:01

The thing with wasting was basically; someone started a thread about having maggots in their wheelie bin etc, lots of people went on and said how theirs were the same/tips on how to solve problem....Wasting mentioned something about how her neighbour cleaned hers out or something. Suddenly this random person comes on and starts slating her and telling everyone how bad W's lawn is, house is a mess etc. W's DH has had an arm injury so has been out of action for a while and W has a toddler so honestly? Who does this woman think she is? Anyway, random troll who may be the actual neighbour is now banned from MN. What a fucking nutter!! W is ok though, she is tough

The DM thing (have skimmed over it) is to do with some journo who used to be a MNetter doing a column in DM titled On Mumsnet This Week.... Has been C&P whole threads (not just quotes) Last week it was some old thread on kids and fake tan, this week however was a thread started by a well known MNetter about being pg and how her work were being twats wrt pg/workload etc (i think) It is a very recent post so it is an ongoing situation that would not be helped by being copied into the DM. Now there is huge rows over people not wanting whole threads copied because it can identify posters in RL (i think a lot of this especially with the SN threads and mental health - understanderbly (sp?))

I think that is about the gist of them

JustKeepSwimming · 15/08/2009 18:45

PlumBumMum · 15/08/2009 19:11

Wasting if you are lurking I read a thread with a very nasty troll on it last night and she attacked a poster personally
but I think she had done a quick read of the posters profile,
so I doubt she knows you personally just probably did a quick search[saddo],
I started a thread last night to try and stop people to continue argueing with her she was being really nasty to 2 posters,
and I thought the same how could she know all that but some of it was lucky guesses based on profiles etc..

Hope your alright ignore, ignore, ignore

ithinkmydaughterispeppapig · 15/08/2009 19:23

My spelling in my last post was awful

Thats terrible, is that the reason wasting hasn't been about, it's a real shame if it is, although I understand fully her being upset.

The DM thing is a concern, whole threads should not be published in the paper and definately not usernames!!

Is a troll someone who just comes along to cause trouble, sorry I'm a MN novice!!

DONE
dinner
DS3 in bed

To do
Sterilise bottles

ithinkmydaughterispeppapig · 15/08/2009 19:30

Just had a thought, I think I have to much personal info on show in my profile. I may change it later.

PlumBumMum · 15/08/2009 19:36

have just read that thread poor wasting, thats awful, I really don't think the person was her neighbour

Peppa a troll is someone who comes on and makes up threads just for attention but sometimes they turn nasty, and I think there have been a couple in the past who took advantage of some mumsnetters in RL, not sure of the details

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 15/08/2009 19:37

Just read about Wasting and DM. Awful, don't people have anything better to do??

pig I think a troll is not a genuine MNetter but someone who sometimes poses questions to do market research or get information for an article.

Bit of a late in the day post but DS did really well last night in his 'big boy bed' and we didn't hear a peep until 8am!

There was a bit of a thump in the night and DH went to put him back into bed but he was fine and still asleep.

Hopefully it will work again tonight.

We had a mad day today, friends visited with their 2 kids and we went canoeing! Yes me at 30 weeks canoeing in the rain. Was fine until needed the loo and my back ached a bit. Bit worn out now obviously. Hopefully DS will go to bed soon and I will take up residence on the sofa for the foreseeable future.

List
DS to bed
Take up residence on sofa
Go to bed.

NaughtyAlice · 15/08/2009 19:42

DH says that 'Troll' are not just a MN thing, more an internet forum thing. It is basically anyone who plays up to get attention. Doesn't mean they are not 'real' mnetters, could be that they wanted to stir/get some attention etc. Does that make sense?

NaughtyAlice · 15/08/2009 19:47

peppa i have lots on mine too, well did before i changed my name, don't know if it is still there

My theory is that if someone came on here actually looking for me it would be easy enough, just by reading old threads. I was more worried about having stuff that i felt was personal (mental health threads for example) splashed across some rag for all and sundry to read and being instantly recognisable iyswim?

Comewhinewithme · 15/08/2009 19:50

Hello slatterns have given up on lists until DC go back it's just not happening .

Hope everyone is ok about wasting .
She hasn't left MN has she ?

NaughtyAlice · 15/08/2009 19:57

I don't think so, spoke to her on FB, i think she is just busy at the moment so no lists.

Could you not give your DC a list each day? (apart from L ) and if you get a whistle and dress them in manky old curtains, you could be the Von Trappes, (big help if you are trying to escape Austria and are entered in a singing contest)

JustKeepSwimming · 15/08/2009 20:12
