Whoops was so engrosed in list writing that I completely forgot that dd had gone upstairs for a poo and I'd told her I'd be up in a minute to wipe her bum . There was a plaintive cry of "mummy are you coming yet my bum is getting cold". Poor girl!

Yup, once she got home she was fine.

She has aspergers tendencies and doesn't cope well with change. She thought she would enjoy it because she enjoys sleeping at Psycho's and my mum's. Had a chat in the car about why she felt like this (she asked), and explained that she has spent her entire life with mum's and psycho's as second homes/families. When she goes there the only "different" thing is the bed. With the friend last night as much as she loves them, they don't have that familiarness, she still tenses when we first arrive etc. So "new" family, new house, new bed - too many new variables and it was just too much.

She also told me in the car how she likes things neat and tidy and in order. I wonder just how much our home does mess her up . To be fair though, she makes as much of the chaos as any of us!

Right - list

TrillianAstra · 17/04/2009 12:52

Is your DD especially intelligent Flame or do I just underestimate how much abstract/logical thought the average 5-year-old is capable of?

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 17/04/2009 13:04

She is about average intelligence afaik, but her brain functions differently to most 5 yr olds. Her teacher told me the other day that she asked her what came before 2... DD's answer was -10. She was technically right (counted back to prove it), but thinking differently to the rest of us

TrillianAstra · 17/04/2009 13:08

I like that answer. A better answer would be 'lots of things come before 2'.

One thing that scares me about children is how they don't make any sense. I'd quite like reassuring that they turn into minature people who can follow a reasoned point (eg this action leads to this consequence) after not too many years. Your DD sounds good at that.

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 17/04/2009 13:09

She was the same the day we made the charter.

"Why aren't you a brat to your teachers"
"Because we have the charter".

Oh. Stupid me. Charter has been amazing btw, should go update that thread

wastingmyeducation · 17/04/2009 13:22
