HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 30/04/2009 19:50

alice A good swear does usually help in these situations. Put DD to bed then give the machine a good kicking.

We have a cupboard under the stairs which masquerades as a larder but you can't fit much in there.

cikecaka - can you put them on the radiator or hang them inside on coat hangers somewhere? If not dry by the morning iron them a bit (emergency measures).

I am getting nothing done. Just MN - oops.

alicecrail · 30/04/2009 19:57

I'm over it now, DH can wrestle with it when he gets home
cikecaka Do you have an airing cupboard? I find most stuff dries in ours overnight

FrankMustard · 30/04/2009 20:19

Ahhh feeling better, eaten a bit too much nice dinner and got some wine DS not asleep yet though, he's slept a lot today because of feeling poorly but is clearly feeling better and will not go down, so he's sat at my feet playing now

TA - no I don't have to pay it back because I have only had statutory pay from them so you keep that regardless of whether you go back or not.

Wilbur that's an excellent completion rate for the first day

HMHB - not bonkers at all. Mmmm kitkats!

CC - I find stuff will dry inside overnight if it's on a hanger in a doorway.

CC - Don't feel guilty about toothache, is one of the worst types of pain!

HMHB - Hope your stock up made you feel guilty, but not give you swollen ankles in the rush.

JKS - are things getting back to normal in your household?

TA - How you feeling today?

Ali - you've been busy today!

I feel tired, have pains in my legs and right hand, and DD took along time to settle tonight which didn't help really shes asleep now all spread eagle LOL

TrillianAstra · 30/04/2009 22:37

I'm fine Muppets, feeling more positive now I have a list and can see that I have quite a few job applications on the go. Sopread-eagled DD sounds very cute

Ali - I get it, just don't know how these things work if they pay you extra. What was your nice dinner that you had too much of (nosy and need ideas for nice food)

HalfMum - I feel like going to the shop too, if only because we don't have any tissues and I really don't want to get ill without tissues. Will it be full of crazy women buying tins?

CC - on hangers over a radiator or in an airing cupboard. We have a dehumidifier as we had some damp problems and that dries clothes really well.

Hope you get your early night Frank, I think it might be time for bed for me in a minute too.

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 01/05/2009 00:47

TA - it varies massively from company to company with 'extra' maternity pay. One friend of mine only had to go back for 3 months in order to keep the extra she got, and someone else I know had a sliding scale but had to pay back at least some unless she went back for a year. I know several people who have deferred taking their additional pay because they thought they wouldn't go back. A nice lump sum if you do but I don't know anyone who has.
The dinner was very basic but something my Mum used to make when we were little. It's basically macaroni, sweetcorn, flaked cod and then cheese sauce poured over and a little grated cheese on the top. You cook the fish and pasta seperately and then bung it all together and give it about 45 mins in the over. It's yummy yummy and v.easy to make.

MM I have been busy looking at the list, but it doesn't feel like it. The small list to start was definitely the way to go. Sorry you are in so much pain, I hope you're fast asleep by now

Good morning all.

I really am starting to lose it! The spawn of satan washing machine has just soaked my feet and kitchen floor as i opened the door, but i have just put it onto another wash and it seems to be making the right noises so fingers crossed. I completely forgot to put the dishwasher on last night (novelty is wearing off already!) so had to wash some stuff up this morning (i really need 'people' for this sort of thing)

However i am shortly off to town to purchase some lovely smelling moisteriser and some eyelash curlers. (and i may pop into the sewing shop to look for some bag handles)
I may be back later with a list (maybe)

TrillianAstra · 01/05/2009 08:41

Morning. It looks like a nice day and I am not going to waste it. Soon I will have a job and I will wonder what I did all day.

So I am going to do the following:
wash hair
get dressed
sit outside with my book

and later I will get some shopping from Sainsburys

That's it for today.

Comewhinewithme · 01/05/2009 08:45

Ohh TA that sounds like a nice day .

Alice have you checked the pump on the washer ? Mine leaks and makes odd noises and there is usually lego something blocking the pump .

MuppetsMuggle · 01/05/2009 08:51

CWWM - do you feel something maybe happening?

Comewhinewithme · 01/05/2009 08:54

Just feel a bit twingy it is probably nothing .
Though I usually have a show when I am in active labour so am wondering what is going on .

Sorry you are still in pain MM .

alicecrail · 01/05/2009 08:55

Dh wonders if it is the drainage set up but tbh it was slightly tempermental before we moved it to its new place. You would start it and nothing would happen so would have to switch it on and off at the wall and then it would be fine

TrillianAstra · 01/05/2009 08:56

Sorry it's till hurting MM, good luck for family gathering - usually it's the 70 year old who has to keep sitting down

CWWM - are you ready for if this is it?

Alice - good luck with shopping - you're probably find that you get loads of useful advice while you're out at the shops and it's too late

OP posts:
MuppetsMuggle · 01/05/2009 08:57
