ComeWhine - what did friend sneak onto your order?!

PBM - Ikea is not all that great really, useful for some things though.
TA was 'recognised' as an old-time MNer on another thread and i totally blew her cover by saying, 'oh you're plan's going well then to be famous', oops & sorry again!

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimmingInChocolate · 04/04/2009 11:12

No, oh god i'm not explaining it well at all!

She was on another thread and said something like, i'm not an oldtimer, and someone else said they thought she was, so i said her plan to become famous on MN was working.
is that clearer?
oh i really am making a mess of this!!!

Comewhinewithme · 04/04/2009 12:12

JKS it was fabric conditioner and some babywipes .

TrillianEAstraEgg · 04/04/2009 12:15

S'okay, I thought it was funny.

I've had on my 'things to do' list 'post lots in order to become a celeb MNer' as a sort of joke.

Someone on another thread asked a question abou two posters, I said no they weren't the name person with an altered name they were different and which one came first. Anyway the person who had been unsure came back and said 'thanks, I am just a newbie so I don't know these things'. I was quite and at someone describing themselves as a newbie to me, cos as far as I'm concerned I'm a newbie.

Then JKS came along and said my cunning plan was working.

PlumBumMum · 04/04/2009 12:40

Well looking at my list I have done nothing on it since I last post

made dd1 egg in a cup
got Ikea stuff out of car
my mother called over, they cancelled their holiday as dad too sick, mystery illness could be kidney stones, but she told me how he had been on the phone to his friend who had prostate cancer,
so have spent the week questioning what I want to do if he has something a little more serious, but then dd has been in hosp for her eye surgery(one was a very serious operation) and he didn't do anything (sorry ramble over)

CWWM IKEA only came here last year, I think people get carried away thinking everything is cheap and then get a shock when they go to the till, I like my notice board though

its a blackboard/magnet board with a shelf underneath for crap important things, It was 10.97, so not bad and its quite big

Right off to have a nosey on active conv, then I really must do something, need to decide wiether I have enough food to last me until Monday, or do I brave Tesco today, no it will be madness

JustKeepSwimmingInChocolate · 04/04/2009 13:24

We bought some furniture for our rented out flat in Ikea which was much cheaper than anywhere else i could see online, so it's good for that, or people starting out.

ComeWhine - need to get some more bits for 'crafting' with ds1, just tissue paper, glue, etc.
Also want to get some more cheap photo albums to put the boys photos in - now that i'm on top of that as a job!
Want to find a container for our cat food too. we buy these huge bags of dry Iams food but don't have a good way to store it, something like a bin but with a tight lid so the cats can't get in there and help themselves

Weekend:

  • me up first DONE
  • breakfast DONE
  • DS2 nap Doing
  • Get dressed DONE
  • read papers Started
  • DH & DS1 to Dad's playgroup DONE
  • enjoy peace & quiet DONE
  • maybe do some family tree stuff StillDoing
  • have cup of tea DONE
  • maybe brave Asda later for easter nest making ingredients...
  • DH to cut the grass
  • assemble trampoline
  • assemble climbing frame
  • assess garden toys!
  • me to Factory Shop

Oh sounds fun I love making stuff with the dc (prefer it in summer when they can use the garden though ).

We are lucky we have a scrapstore a two minute walk away from us and it has a toy library attached too . Craft stuff is really cheap too.

PBM I almost bought a desk from ikea (someone was selling it on ebay) for dd it had a little pot built in for crayons and stuff .

Right my bedroom looks a right mess just bought the dc loads of new bedding along with the curtains and it is now chucked all over my bed . DP has fetched the girls the new mama cooking game back very funny watching our 3 year old trying to work it .

Curry smells lovely another recipe thanks to MN .

We have some ikea furniture (bought for starting out in our rented flat, so fulfilling lots of your criteria JKS) and it's pretty good. Better than the flatpack stuff I got from Argos, definitely.

What curry recipe are you using CWWM? I made curry properly from scratch the other day, I've done a Jamie Oliver recipe for rogan josh (did it with lamb)and one that a friend gave me for passanda (very fat curry with lots of nuts).

JustKeepSwimmingInChocolate · 04/04/2009 14:54

ComeWhine - would you recommend a slow cooker? bear in mind i am cr*p at cooking! i picture it as a throw in loads of things early in the day and hey presto! dinner is ready at dinnertime

Made it to Asda but couldn't waste the sunshine so may go to Factory Shop tomorrow instead!

Comewhinewithme · 04/04/2009 15:05

TA I made this one here . Basically just chopped loads of veg added garlic stock and curry paste and turned the slowcooker on .

JKS I love my slowcooker I have only made chicken casserole and chilli in it until today but it is really easy to use . Like you said chuck everything in and leave until the end of the day .

I only learnt to cook since using MN until then I could only really make spag bog and roast dinners .

JustKeepSwimmingInChocolate · 04/04/2009 15:11

Which one have you got?

um, i can't do a roast dinner or spag bol.

popcorn, stuff on toast, pasta & sauce, fish fingers, that's about it.....

Comewhinewithme · 04/04/2009 15:15

I don't know JKS my mil gave it to me just a bog standard one .

Use the recipe boards on here (netmums is good for recipes too I swear I never go on the forums) and all recipes uk .

Comewhinewithme · 04/04/2009 15:16

I can't make yorkshire puddings I buy ready made and am crap at pastry .

TrillianEAstraEgg · 04/04/2009 15:30

I can cook a bit, but it's almost all things that you do on the hob, while standing there the whole time. I think it's left over from student houses that only had one of those plug-in two-ring electric hobs and no oven.

I made a roast dinner the other day and I was very excited, even though for most people (perhaps depending on generation?) a roast dinner is the most basic full meal you can make.

I also burnt out the microwave the other day.

wastingmyeasternameopportunity · 04/04/2009 16:58

My living room looks like an Ikea catalogue! I think we must be who they design for, as when we were looking for a TV unit the other year, I had looked in despair through the Argos catalogue and when I clicked onto the Ikea website, I was like 'oh that's what I was thinking of!' (Low and wide with at least 5 spaces for electronics and space on the top for phone ornaments) The store is very annoying though.

I bought a slow cooker, and tried to do a veg stew, but it was all still raw when I went to serve up. Haven't dared have another go.

Had fun bowling last night, but DS was still awake when I got in, so we'll have to stick with bf to sleep for the time being.

I've got a few bits done today, but still to do -

  • make dinner
  • washing - DS clothes, nappies
  • DS bath and bed
  • clear dinner/highchair
  • DH dinner when he gets in
  • wash pots
  • Wii Fit
  • sort lists
