It is still off in my home, but gosh it's cold today.

Upstairs is ok (boiler up here) with the hot water pipes giving off a bit of warmth. Yet downstairs is miserable.

It was ok to say, 'ooh i am going to wear fleeces etc...' when it was 12 degress, but 5 is slightly different non?

I CAN@T AFFORD IT and i feel like poo, for not being able to put it on yet.

Babyjbaby--why can't you turn them off at the set? Just curious.

needmorecoffee · 30/10/2008 19:11

babyjjbaby · 30/10/2008 19:18

MrsGokWan · 30/10/2008 19:28

I had to give in and put the heating on today for a while. It is flipping freezing. OH! well only 2 days off November not too bad I suppose.

babyjjbaby · 30/10/2008 19:38

i really don't wnat my heating on but they won't listen to me i hate it here cos they won't listen to me

KaplumbagaBloodyBones · 30/10/2008 23:03

Will probably have heating on tomorrow night BUT only because we will be in a caravan!

Small warning about the halogen heater. DD1 managed to knock it over onto DD2's arm(despite both being to keep away!).
Pic of burn on profile. Poor girl was very brave.

nappyaddict · 30/10/2008 23:14

our halogen heater switches off automatically if it is knocked over. are they not all like that?

KaplumbagaBloodyBones · 30/10/2008 23:17

Yes it switches off if it gets knocked over but it is still hot on the bars.

nappyaddict · 30/10/2008 23:17

i suppose you could put a fire guard around it?

fangdom · 30/10/2008 23:18

Are halogen heaters cheap to run? ..saw one for 6.99 today

KaplumbagaBloodyBones · 30/10/2008 23:19

fang yes they are cheap to run.

babyjjbaby · 30/10/2008 23:25

do they work out cheaper than a gas fire

Ripeberry · 31/10/2008 09:15

They are supposed to me no more than 5p an hour, so MUCH cheaper than gas. No-one really needs to freeze these days if you can get heaters for less than £10.
If people are really worried about cost, then they will have to get a few books from the library and sit in front of the halogen heater instead of watching TV which uses up much more pence per hour!

babyjjbaby · 31/10/2008 09:46

i might get a halogen heater then next mth

snorkle · 31/10/2008 10:55

Ripeberry, the halogen heater linked to by nappyaddict is 400/800W, thats 0.4kwh or 0.8kwh per hour. I pay 13.75p per kwh, so that model would cost 5.5p per hour on low or 11p per hour on high. DO check the rating before you buy - don't just assume it will cost less than 5p an hour.

babyjjbaby · 31/10/2008 20:40

who hasn't got the heating on 2 night we haven't got anything at all on but bbays room is 10.6c saying that tho he has got vest sleepsuit fleece suit 2.5 tog sleeping bag 3 blankets and 2 of them are folded in half does it do them any harm to be in cold air as long as they have got blankets i really want a halogen heater so i could put it on for bout 20 mins

babyjjbaby · 01/11/2008 09:31
