My DD would tell you "shhhhh - Roomba sleeping"

I can't say I have ever timed his 'naps' but if you need him to do somthing else you can wake him up early...after 1 hour it will not be entirely worn out.

HeinzEVILSight · 12/10/2008 20:08

Um, what's a Roomba?

skidoodle · 12/10/2008 20:09

lol @ roomba sleeping

stealthsquiggle, sounds like you are exploiting your poor roomba. remember, he is a person with his own feelings and opinions

HeinzEVILSight · 12/10/2008 20:11

Have googled. I WANT one of those, but don't think it'd be able to cope with Golden retriever hairs

NotAnOtter · 12/10/2008 20:12

does it sound about normal Stealth?

He has now been 'feeding' for an hour and no sign of being charged....

I soooooooooooo want a wee roomba of my own to love. I asked dh to buy me one for my Xmas and he laughed like a loon! Said he's not buying me a household item for Xmas.

Said i've to sell my dyson and get one. Surely I need to keep the dyson for the stairs? .

If I had a spare £200 I'd be out buying one tomorrow. Oh and I want a Scooba too!

I have visions of setting it ready to go for when i go out to work in the morning and coming back to a beautifully vacuumed house!

skidoodle our Roomba is spoiled, not exploited - how many vacuum cleaners do you know which get read stories (by DD)?

mumhadenough - DH similarly scoffed until he realised that they were a spin-off from military robots - next thing I knew was one turning up out of the blue

NotanO - did it get it's long (12 hour plus) initial charge when you unpacked it?

no i left him 17 hours like a good girl

I may ring roomba tomorrow if no one can advise as the booklet says nothing

he just did two bedrooms one wooden one cork both with the odd rug and then he was exhausted

he has been feeding now 1.05 mins....

after exactly one hour cleaning?

OP posts:
stealthsquiggle · 12/10/2008 20:21

It does sound as though your Roomba is being a bit of a lightweight - worth a kick up the ass call, certainly.

NotAnOtter · 12/10/2008 20:22

i may just ring john lewis and ask to swap it

it seems a bit woosy to me and any bloke in my house needs to work for a living

mumhadenough · 12/10/2008 20:25

Nooo stealthsquiggle, he thinks they look great. he was laughing so much cos I'd asked him to buy me hoover for xmas. Normally I'd have cut his manhood off if he'd suggested such a thing!

DesperateHousewifeToo · 12/10/2008 20:27

Does he move all the clutter off the floor for you first?

HeinzEVILSight · 12/10/2008 20:36

Can they cope with dog hair?

GrabShellDude · 12/10/2008 20:41

But that's about right isn't it? I'm sure mine only clean for about an hour then head off back to base to re-charge.

Heinz - brilliant with dog hair especially on hard flooring.

NotAnOtter · 12/10/2008 20:43

thanks murderous maria and grabshelldude

he is stiill feeding 1.5 hours on....

OP posts:
Piffle · 12/10/2008 20:43

otter for purposes of comparison
I clean for 1 hr a day
be feed for at least 3 and sleep for about 8
Your roomba is cheaper and harder working
Bargain!! N

HeinzEVILSight · 12/10/2008 20:43

REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? Even LOADS of it? My dog drops a ridiculous amount!

stealthsquiggle · 12/10/2008 20:44

My DH wanted a written committment that I would never say that he had bought me a vacuum cleaner for Christmas

Heinz - don't know about dog hair but they are pretty good at cat hair and promote themselves as being good for pet owners (don't expect the dog to like it though - my parents' cats are exceptionally annoyed at their acquistion of a Roomba, and our cat views ours as one more thing (on top of DC and chickens) designed to make her life hell)

GrabShellDude · 12/10/2008 21:00

Heinz, well I've got two Labs and putting Roobs round once/twice a day really keeps the dog hair in check.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 12/10/2008 21:04

I want a roomba I want one now. Is it child proof?

NotAnOtter · 12/10/2008 21:09

lol piffle

it has just stopped after 1 hour 50 mins

maybe that is normal

OP posts:
Millarkie · 12/10/2008 21:22

Heinz - I have a black lab and don't notice any hair around except for in utility room (where she sleeps and the roomba does not go). Roomba is put in hall and living room on alternate days here (I have the cheap non-scheduling version).
NAO - I'm pretty sure mine is meant to take 6 hours to charge after he gets 'exhausted'..but I have the cheap model..doesn't bother me because I don't expect all rooms to be hoovered in one day.
