Really boring question but what is the best kitchen bin you’ve had?

I need a new kitchen bin, looking for recommendations.
The bin I am replacing is a Morphy Richards sensor bin.

Ideally not another sensor bin.

I realise how dull this question may be… apologies in advance!

Actually I am always barefoot indoors and wouldn't want my foot touching a bin either.

I have actual OCD, not the David Beckham just liking a tidy fridge variety.

This is a Klaxon announcement to owners of Brabantia push-lid bins…When our lid clip broke after about 20 years (certainly more than 15) … There are people who 3D print replacement clips (found ours on Ebay).

Joseph Joseph totem bin! Space saving looks. Good and so far has survived the toddler! The official bin bags are great but Lidl or Aldi drawstring ones do just as good!

@Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuiti don't think that comment is fair. It's well known his OCD does affect him. I also have crippling OCD. It does annoy me when people say they are a touch ocd... So I get that.

What’s worked really well for us is a bog standard bin, plastic, wider at the top so you don’t miss, inside a cupboard without its lid on. Can take it out if you’ve got a lot going in prepping a meal or something otherwise it’s out of sight but you can still put stuff in because there’s enough of a gap when you open the cupboard door. It’s the lids that always irritate me!

Fair enough. I've just had a bad experience with sensors. Do you take all comments as criticism? Re OCD is the pedal of the bin dirtier than your kitchen floor?

My Brabantia push lid bin is over 20 years old. The clip broke about ten years ago, I contacted Brabantia who sent me 2 replacements free. I used one and have kept the other for when it's needed. No idea if Brabantia do still replace the clips at no cost.

A bin that fits inside the door under the sink, and opens when you open the door. - so I don't have to spend all my time looking at and living with a bin! I like it hidden away.

We have this bin too. It’s the perfect kitchen bin.

I looked for a while - there’s only me and I didn’t want anything big. Didn’t want a swing bin or pedal bin coz cats are too clever, and was concerned sensor lids would break.

Ended up with this and it’s just the job.

Like YONEM I have a Joseph and Joseph 10 yrs on still like new. It has a metal surround with three plastic areas .
top is big plastic area plus plastic food caddy with lid .
bottom is a pull out big base. All fabulous. I do blue bin stuff in the top. Food waste I. Caddy, then general waste in the bottom. I have a separate bin for green bin card paper etc or put broken down boxes straight outside

Not really useful for you but we have the built in ones from wren kitchen and although great at space saving they are a pain to keep clean.

We bought one of these as a temporary bin as about to have kitchen done, but I love it. The expensive chrome one we had dented easily, often looked grubby and discoloured. This is straight forward and huge.

Can I ask how easy it is to stop the food waste insert from getting manky? I've had a look at them and I don't know how well it would work with bags for the rubbish and food waste, which has only recently started to be collected here. I've ended up buying a nicer food waste caddy than the council supplied, for now and sticking with my old style totem bin but I'd really like to free up the space it takes up.
