Had a fairly successful decluttering session last weekend. First, I finished shredding the last of the paperwork from my mum’s house. I have an envelope full of things like the last bank statement, last bills, and also the mortgage agreement when they bought the house back in the late 70s. I will probably go through this again to reduce it down in the future.
I haven’t go rid of the box and empty files yet, but I’ll do that this weekend. Couldn’t quite face it after doing all the shredding.
The other task for last weekend was to clean and rearrange a set of shelves in DD’s room, which was a mix of our stuff and her stuff. The shelves are in an alcove, and the top shelf is level with DD’s loft bed, and I wanted to clear it so she can use it as a bedside shelf. It felt like a game of Tetris - I took 50 magazines that I didn’t want to keep anymore off the shelves downstairs, moved the magazines from the top shelf (mainly DH’s D&D magazines 🙄) downstairs, then emptied, cleaned, and tidied up the remaining shelves. Also dusted the rest of the room (it really needed it) and hoovered. I was glad to get that done.
Actual decluttering was the paperwork (counted as 1), the 50 magazines (though they haven’t left the house yet), and a few folders from DD’s shelves. Also threw away a pair of tights this week as they had a hole in them. So 55 things in the past week.
