Day 1 of 28 Days of Decluttering (Saturday) - one plastic wallet/ pouch thrown out as the seams had started splitting. I used it to keep lip balm, hair bobbles, moisturiser etc in and moved it from bag to bag. Replaced with a cloth purse that I got for Xmas, so that’s out of a drawer and in use.

Day 1 of 28 Days of Decluttering (yesterday) - one school sock in the fabric recycling bag as it had a hole in. I need to buy another pack for DD as a few have worn out recently.

Am back on it this week. My wife filled a bin bag yesterday. She needs to get better at putting things in the bin rather than hesitating every time.
Am going to empty bins and food waste every morning before 0900 this week.

Declutter day 34 - some laminated phonics cards that are now too easy for DC.

I'm also slightly horrified that we are already 34days into 2025.

Well I went round with a roll of bin bag and freed myself from the burden to reduce/reuse/donate. 3 full bin bags into bin and recycling. I’m not counting the items but will give myself 15 as there were definitely more than that that weren’t just normal rubbish. I do feel better for being able to see my house a bit more and get the hoover round.

And I’ve got over 100 baby/kids items into sorted bags in the car boot but won’t count those until they are gone.

Sold an item on Vinted and posted this morning
Threw away two ‘models’ my daughter made (with her permission!)
recycled some more ‘art work’
Got rid of a huge box I thought would be good for storage. It wasn’t, it just created a hazard in the hallway
gave a too-small skirt to a friend

Recycling and postponing the throwing away is what hurts out house over and over

Bulk waste has been collected! That's a relief.

I'm near the end of my decluttering journey. I have a big charity collection towards the end of February.

6 odd socks out and 2 bin bags of baby clothes donated. Spare room feels lighter. The money is spent, the money I could have got from vinted is shoulda woulda coulda as I have not listed them. I was just glad to find them a good home.

Small coffee table is away to DD’s flat. Dining chair is now hotspot instead. Need to put stuff away.

Recycling trolley is out.

I've had a good week. Still haven't finished the kitchen drawers/cupboards though! Did get a lot of pictures up on the wall that have been hanging around in a box for months, so that was a job well done.

My plans for this week are over because we've got Ofsted coming 🤯

The only out to report will be Ofsted on Thursday pm. Bring it!!!!!

Cleared out bathroom cabinet and have binned so much stuff. Expired meds opened for way too long stuff. Dregs of stuff.

we’re getting a new bathroom next week.

tomorrow the entire bathroom gets ripped out.

Well done. I need to do something like that when we get our next lot of building work started.

My mission (as of today) for February is to list at least 5 things a day on selling sites. I would love to just give it away/bin but need the money at the moment so feel better trying to sell it first!

Day 35 declutter (yesterday) a notelet pad which we'll never have a use for recycled
Day 36 - face oil used up.

Must get into a daily declutter habit!

Oh I was doing something in the front garden when one of those charity bag collections came past. I lost the charity bag last week soon after it was delivered but I flagged down the van and it turned out they had spare bags and were willing to take a load of DD's old clothes. Total out of the house: 14 tops. I'll have to scroll back to check my YTD.

Wow everyone's so busy decluttering, that took some scrolling to find!

Realised that I didn’t post about my aims for February! I’m planning to:

• Continue daily decluttering
• Finish shredding the paperwork from my mum’s house
• Tackle the top of the small storage cupboard in the dining room which has random stuff dumped all over it.
• Get the things that were decluttered last month out of the house.

As I’ve just started my new job, I know that I won’t have the energy to declutter every day, but I’ll do my best.
