New thread!
Hope you all find this! It's not letting me tag people..

OP posts:
Vinorosso74 · 06/01/2025 17:37

Been doing some cooking today so I have healthy lunches. Soup made and vegetables currently roasting.
An old plastic Ikea kids knife and my medication blister packs into the recycling at Superdrug are today's outs.

IndianSummer78 · 06/01/2025 19:13

One CD binned. Total is 3065

Realfastfoodie · 06/01/2025 20:37

Two kids small stools collected. Probably about the same volume as my naughty “ins” yesterday 😞

EllieQ · 06/01/2025 22:30

Day 6 of 31 days of decluttering. Bookshelf no. 5 emptied, wiped down, and restocked, and two more books added up the charity bag - that’s all the bookshelves done 😊

The tree and decorations have been taken down this evening. One bag (with Advent calendars etc) lives in the bottom of the wardrobe, so I emptied everything else out so I could pack it away neatly, and found three pairs of dance shoes that my sister sent me for DD. As DD has stopped dance classes now, they have gone in the charity bag too.

The other decorations live under our bed, so they’re all packed away now too. Back to work tomorrow, but I’m going to try to keep on with the daily decluttering.

Realfastfoodie · 06/01/2025 22:49

Bunch of bags packed up for charity, fabric recycling etc.

Found as many things as possible for the bin/recycling bins:

6 unused wall fittings
1 big pile of boxes
1 broken Xmas dec
5 old bath toys

2025 total - 29

I’m really torn about whether to count the “ins” excluding consumables. In theory it should be easy.

HellonHeels · 06/01/2025 23:05

Today's outs:

Poster in a tube, origins unknown, very battered
broken cables and light bulbs to recycle centre
Large print from my home culture, given away to my sibling who has wall space and wanted it
Lipstick in dodgy colour binned
Used up a travel size conditioner

Total: 62

JK3 · 07/01/2025 08:40

2 more items sold on Vinted
pair of trainers out
dressing up clothes to kids’ school
Greetings cards (wrong ages, didn’t send during Covid)

total = 45 since 1st January

IndianSummer78 · 07/01/2025 11:37

Two old knives with worn out handles. Total is 3067

Pigtailsandall · 07/01/2025 11:46

Forgot to post yesterday:

Day 6 - kids joggers
Day 7 - kids leggings

DC seems to have had a growth spurt. Will try to replace 2 for every 3 outgrown items to see how we get on with less.

Since my last post DH has been on a mission.

he’s literally been through every cupboard in the house.

curtains and lampshade from ds’ room (new ones in place)
odd glasses plates and cups
three books
about half of his wardrobe
a bag from my wardrobe
Christmas dishes

Sold:
a set of gold clubs
a handbag
pair of riding boots

binned:
old bottle of mulled wine
7 tea towels that had seen better days
5 cleaning cloths

I’m doing similar. Now the kids are back at school we need less “play clothes” because as much as I ask and beg them to change after school they refuse. So less play clothes.

username299 · 07/01/2025 16:15

I'm currently clearing out the cupboard. When I say cupboard, it's the size of a wardrobe, floor to ceiling. It's full of decorating and DIY stuff, wrapping paper, shelves, plant pots, camping equipment etc

I've filled one large bin bag and am having a break.

IncessantNameChanger · 07/01/2025 16:28

My kids don't change after school either. I'm not replacing anything out grown atm. I'm going to replace only once they are desperately needed. Ds12 has / had about ten long sleeve tops and possibly that many hoodies. He was sitting around in his boxes yesterday! He doesn't feel the cold due to his ASD so normally only puts a hoodie on if I'm nagging him to not wear shorts in mid winter. He only needs two hoodies. If I replace the long sleeve tshirts he will outgrow them.by next Christmas and only get to wear them in half term

Yes, I thought 4 sets of "weekend" clothes will do - that's two weeks worth of stuff. My dc is only 5 so school clothes need a wash after every day so I don't mind if they stay in them and they get more mucky in the evenings. We also have a big collection t-shirts so those can be worn with hoodies if we run out of tops.

Also how are you doing?x

Have filled another bin bag. I seem to have a large travel plug collection and lots of chargers and leads. Had no idea I was such a hobbyist.

Doing ok thanks! Two more chemo sessions to go. Still very very grateful to have had very minimal side effects so far.

but I am so over this shit.

roll on 25 feb when I have my surgery and declutter my chemo port and left boob (that’s extreme decluttering though right?!)

oh my hair and eyebrows also decluttered itself 😳🙄🤣

Oh no how did I miss this? That's really shit. Sorry to hear your going through this. I hope the OP is successful and not to stressful but that seems such a glib comment. Hard to say something that isn't really stupid in these circumstances. Good news about getting through the chemo. My cousin was in hospital the night of her first chemo and really had such a extreme bad reaction. Small positives

username299 · 07/01/2025 17:55

I'm finished for the day. The majority is done and I'll finish up tomorrow.

Not sure about getting rid off my art gear.

i haven’t posted much about it on this thread to be fair.

but it’s all ok. Or it will be. Treatable and curable. And I’m in the very best hands. My medical team are amazing. Chemo nurses are absolute angels.

I am scared for surgery because I’ve not had one before. But it will be ok.

JK3 · 07/01/2025 22:13

Sold 9 items on Vinted
1 pair of trousers to a friend
3 kids’ bits to a friend

total outs = 58

EllieQ · 07/01/2025 22:50

Day 7 of 31 days of decluttering: a pair of outgrown school shoes gone into the charity bag. They have been sitting on the stairs since last summer waiting for a decision on donation or recycling, and I finally decided they were good enough to donate.

The last few Xmas decorations have been put away this evening, and I have got through my first day back at work.

Glad to hear that treatment is going well @ememem84

IndianSummer78 · 08/01/2025 00:09

Two more DVDs binned. Total is 3069

username299 · 08/01/2025 15:27

I've nearly finished the cupboard but there's decluttering within decluttering. The tool box could do with a declutter and I have boxes of travel memorabilia that could do with sorting.

I might do the travel stuff and leave the rest for another time.

LivingInaBuiltSite · 08/01/2025 17:54

@ememem84 good luck with the surgery!

hi all and HNY, been busy with work, night shifts, etc. only woke up at lunchtime today so must have needed it 😮
so not doing much organising at all, but DD has been on the case and binned loads. Haven’t counted any of it which is a shame for my numbers but never mind, her room is actually tidy! 😱

Jobs:

  1. Hang up framed pictures: approx 10?
  2. DS2 paperwork: blue badge started
  3. my British passport application - need to ring the helpline re my Mum’s passport during the week
  4. DS1’s gaming, PC, nerf collections to go through and tidy away;
  5. IKEA wardrobe for DD to order; got an IKEA friend-expert to help so now DONE! ☑️
  6. orchestra folders, new music to sort DONE ☑️ , then put in folders DONE ☑️ (some given out last night, others have to wait til next week)
  7. Christmas decorations sort and put away Started

Not quite outs yet:
scooter hooks x 3 onto FB, need to bump up
leggings to pass to running friend

Out:
15 old handmade ornaments to bin
2 broken ornaments to bin
= 17

username299 · 08/01/2025 17:58

The cupboard is done! Yippee!

I have the books to bag up, the rubbish to go outside for collection and will do the travel memorabilia.
