OMG

DH has just come home with DD2 (I'm not supposed to be picking her up until 11)

He works opposite the nursery and happened to notice police cars outside, and then the nursery leaders evacuating the nursery, so he went across...

We have major road works in the village at the moment as the council are making a footpath through the village (thank heavens! Traffic is a mare and we have to negotiate pushchairs and small children along the road side)

Whilst digging (outside the communtiy hall where the nursery is) They have come across some World War 1 Bombs!!!!!! Un detinated! So everywhere has to be evacuated until the bomb squad arrive to set them off safely!!!

How exciting!

intravenouscoffee · 14/03/2008 10:46

Back from Drs with antibiotics for a chest infection. Not pleased that DD is ill but a bit glad that I'm not a totally neurotic mother! I was a nurse before being a SAHM so swing between being totally laid back about stuff and panicking that I'm too casual about her being ill and becoming convinced she's got something awful

Luda, you have inspired me to takle my dreaded understairs cupboard. When we moved here I was SOOOO excited to have a cupboard to put the ironing board and vacuum cleaner in but in the past 3 months it's just become a total dumping ground for anything without a home.

Bianca, course looks really interesting. If it's just self doubt that's holding you back (rather than doubts about the course itself)then go for it. If you can be a working mum you've got more than enough skills to complete a course, esp on interpersonal skills. Anyone who can negotiate with small children has bucketloads of skill

EHM, still thinking of the not very frosty frosties and sending good vibes.

Babyjj, glad to see you spreading the joy of fly to others.

Thanks dlysmum

Hello Dream, Sag, TMH and Sleepy

Have I missed anyone out? Right need to start on that cupboard... see you later.

DontDreamItBeIt · 14/03/2008 10:47

Quite exciting!

intravenouscoffee · 14/03/2008 10:49

Unexploded bombs? Very exciting!

Might have to forget about cupboard and sit here waiting for updates from Luda

DontDreamItBeIt · 14/03/2008 10:50

The bomb, not ics cupboard under the stairs

I do the same thing re sick children ic. They get no symparthy at all here unless they are unconscious or bleeding, but I do have occasional doubts and end up taking them to the drs only to discover the wierd rash is more eczema

Ludaloo · 14/03/2008 10:59

IC You go girl I must warn you, its one of those jobs you really wish you hadn't decided to though!

Mine is looking loads better now. 2 bin bags of just rubbish, one bag to be recycled and one bag to give to others!

It really has taken me 2 hours too! Still not done yet either!

I might actually be able to get the hoover in it now too! (hoover usually can't fit in so lives in the downstairs loo )

No more news on the bombs...maybe we will be on the news!!?

Ludaloo · 14/03/2008 11:13

Anyone bored and fancy a snoop?

this is the house next door, its up for sale! I thought they were going to lease it but then a sign appeared yesterday.

Its exactly like ours....except obviously ours has heaps of stuff in it LOL

Well cupboard is finally done HURRAH!!!

Ludaloo · 14/03/2008 11:15

wm unloaded and reloaded.
sink cleaner stuffed down all downstairs plugholes
all the bits of rubbish dp left all over downstairs last night (same story every friggin evening) put in bin
coats and bags put away in cellar head cupdoard - doesn't need decluttering it's really not that bad or am I just deluded
I am now back in bed with my cuppa

If I feel up to it I might pot my seedling into individual pots, the courgettes are getting too big for the propagator. Anyone any good with gardening that can give me a few tips?

Luda wow that's a really exciting start to the day. I hope they can be disabled safely
get well thoughts for coffee junior and jas junior and anyone else who is feeling grim today

Ludaloo · 14/03/2008 11:31

Hows the cupboard going IC ?

Sounds like a good idea Ruby, we already have ours all filed, with policy numbers and phone numbers on a sheet at the front of the filing cabinet (great minds think alike eh rubes )

Don't remember Danger UXB....is it a cartoon?

Ludaloo · 14/03/2008 11:32

Morning all!

A quick question - what do you mean when you talk about hot spots? And when you talk about 5 minute/10 minute jobs, do you set timers?

Done

Cleared draining board
Loaded dishwasher
3 wash loads
Hoovered downstairs
Swept kitchen floor
Fed DS1
Made muffins
Cleared coffee table
Sent parcel and letter
Been to Docs

To do

Have lunch
Put away DS2's clothes
Make DS2's bed
One more wash load
Fold up washing when dry
Put away my clothes
Iron uniforms (maybe!)
Clean out hamsters
Fresh water for cat and tablet her

Off to catch up with thread now.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 14/03/2008 11:40

Cupboard is done! Wasn't actually that bad, just looked awful as there were carrier bags everywhere. Also we seem to have more toys, blankets and towels for the dog than we have for the baby. How did that happen?

Nab - Hot spots are just areas where junk seems to gather. Ours is in the kitchen by the back door. You just spend 2 mins twice a day tidying it and eventually it gets sorted and you can stay on top of it.

dylsmum1998 · 14/03/2008 11:49

lol at ruby its not in your kitchen its in mine! . i thought i'd occupy dd with paint while i cleaned out the kitchen cupboards, hmm now need to clean anything low down again
i found alsorts of things that wre out of date whilst iwas doing it- reminds me of someone elses post the other day(sorry forget who). i found herbs etc, peppercorns popcorn crisps, sweets and chocs, some porridge oats oh the shame whole carrier of food to go in the bin what a waste! ( and i havent opened the fridge yet) although fridge shouldnt be too bad, just bits i bought the weekend that havent been eaten cos of poorly dc.
must get on, still i don't have a mission to do today as i have an under counter fridge and a chest freezer so can't accumulate anything on those

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 14/03/2008 11:49

Thank you intravenouscoffee

Ludaloo · 14/03/2008 11:51

LOL Ruby Sorry...Danger UXB flew right over my head there! Now I get it

NAB a hot spot is an area that ALWAYS collects clutter....for me, it is the little shelf in the corner of the kitchen where letters get put, little child nic knac crap type things, things no one else can find a home for...etc.
Or the window sill...which collects cups, and the likes.

I do actually set a timer I use the oven timer which pings when your time is up.

No idea what is going on regarding the bomb...may have to phone DH for an update!

Ludaloo · 14/03/2008 11:55

DH has been phoned...bomb disposal squad due at 3pm Great!!..school picking up time! Generally a lot of police ligging about he says.

It has been on our local radio apparently.

dylsmum I might do that next...you've inspired me

BiancaCastafiore · 14/03/2008 12:02

Luda how exciting! Shame the house link didn't work - I love being nosey at things like that lol.

I'm still in discussions with my bro about the course - you need 12 hours a week to complete it - that's a fair bit really with kids and work to fit in too...
And I'm even more fed up after my trip to the dentist. I don't like my new denture at all - it looks wrong somehow £400 worth of wrong.

I'm going to eat a nice protion of left-over supper from last night as a comforter and watch a bit of daytime telly....

dylsmum1998 · 14/03/2008 12:03

ludo 3 pm sounds like ages away lol, perfect timing for all the children coming out and to want to watch lol
