Welcome to this long running thread, a lot of posters have been here a long time but all newbies and returners are very welcome, do join us!

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - there are too many of them.

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.

There are 5 zones in the house that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Flylady is NOT about perfectionism! You may need to adjust the zones to suit your house.

Habit of the month of October is paper clutter http://www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/october/

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.

• Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
• Tuesday: plan & play
• Wednesday: anti-procrastination
• Thursday: errand day
• Friday: clean car & purse out and date night (which can be anything you make it, night in, night with friends, actual dates are not always going to happen)
• Saturday: family fun day
• Sunday: renew your spirit - again whatever you make of it, but it is time just for you.

Common acronyms we use:

• LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
• DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
• LMS: lose/lost my shit
• DNLMS: did not lose my shit

I will try and update the links every day, but they do update automatically on the website so you can just click on the ones in this post.

Apparently the app is very useful too, I am going to try that this month, I know some are already using it.

Thinking about it, i think i promised to post it a while back and then forgot. So whilst i remember it laundry is gross but please promise not to click if you are eating or have just eaten.

JewelleryCat · 05/10/2023 20:55

Not done much but my usual things today but that’s better than nothing I think. Had a headache the rest of today so that’s why I didn’t do anything else

DomesticElf · 05/10/2023 21:02

Ta das:
🧹Hallway stairs properly hoovered
🧹Shoes tidied up yet again
🧹Usual morning and evening routines

EfficientlyDecluttering · 06/10/2023 07:35

Morning all,

It’s Friday at last. Today’s daily focus is to clear out your car and handbag, I have found after years of letting both of these go for weeks and getting in a mess that little and often really does work better. It is also date night, realistically that doesn’t happen for most on her (at a guess!) but time to kick back and relax, maybe have a takeaway or similar.

The Flight plan is here http://www.flylady.net/c/fp.php?tzm=-60

Our mission is to look up high, tackle cobwebs and dust bunnies, dust light fittings etc.

I haven’t been posting the babysteps, but today’s is a good one, hotspots, this was mentioned earlier in the week, try and make this a daily habit to stop clutter building up http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/31-beginner-babysteps/day-6/

Worth browsing all the babysteps from time to time, whether you are a new or established Fledgling, they are a good foundation (although some are a bit bonkers, feel free to pick and choose, especially the one about lace-up shoes).

Today is my day off work, I need to go through the laundry ignoring that video! sweep and mop the hard floors, hoover upstairs and try and finish off DS’s room which requires taking stuff out to the bins, hoovering, skirting boards wiped and dust bunnies dealt with.

InAndOutOfTheRedBalloon · 06/10/2023 09:16

Morning all! I am still in sickbay and very grumpy about it, just as I was getting my energy back from mumps I've come down with something cold / fluey and feel like death warmed up. I'm pretty sure it's not Covid, but since my corner of the UK is out of tests for the foreseeable, I can't prove it.

This means I have done almost nothing for flying, beyond attempting to get to the end of the day. Yesterday I managed
❤️ having a wash
🧡 putting a LOL on
💛 emptying the DW
💚 slicing onions for DS3 to cook, he's still a little bit end-of-finger happy with the sharp knives.
💙 several naps

Po3 this morning
🤧 have another wash and get dressed (honestly, it never stops! 🤣)
🤧 take DS3 for a haircut and buy more meds and bread while I'm out and probably Belgian buns, a well known cold-cure
🤧 re-rinse and hang the washing that sat all day yesterday (not brave enought to look at @HillsBesideTheSea 's link yet).

Welcome @slowsundays and @Lostcotter , always lovely to have more people on board. @JewelleryCat the beautiful thing about flylady is that you can build it up slowly, so it suits you. Hope the headache has cleared!

🍒👋 to everyone else, I've forgotten all the other personals in my brain fog.

CherryogDog · 06/10/2023 09:16

@HillsBesideTheSea I never knew about some states banning clothes lines!
I've got some processed (vegetarian) food in the freezer so it will take a little time to get into clean eating, but also want to be low carb, I lost loads of weight and felt much fitter but I let things slide.
I've just bought a bucket for soaking tea towels and dish cloths in pre wash, DP has a habit of chucking them in the machine so when I come to wash my clothes the machine stinks!
TaDas cracked the back of the dining room hotspots and general clutter, washed all the pots, pans and utensils that had collected in the kitchen and cooked macaroni cheese.
I'm feeling motivated for another declutter, I want to do some decorating and it'll be easier with less stuff to move around.

EfficientlyDecluttering · 06/10/2023 10:43

Dairy has an inflammatory effect on many people @CherryogDog , even though it can be relatively unprocessed, it’s not a natural part of our diet. I do low-carbing and am cutting right back on UPFs, I have to say low carb works for weight loss for me but I find it hard going and don’t enjoy my food as much without carbs, especially bread.

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 06/10/2023 11:21

You really have to figure out what your triggers are. I am incredibly sensitive to sugar levels, but fat doesn't bother me. I have to be really careful about wheat and gluten. UPF is an absolute nope. Artificial sugars also absolute nope. Dairy is not too much of a problem joint wise. I have to be careful with leafy greens as that can be a inflammation trigger. I learnt i had a nightshade allergy after an exclusion diet which removed the nightshades because they are a known trigger for inflammation and a recommended exclusion for fibro and hasimoto sufferers amongst others. You will figure out what works for you eventually. But my advice is to figure it out for yourself. And to keep a journal. If you look for triggers there is an exclusion protocol. But it also really depends what you are looking for. Better eating? Dietary triggers? The only thing i really would recommend is to carefully consider the result you are looking for, and then research. And figure out if a food is a fine, a rarely or a never for you.
Unfortunately there is a no one size fits all.

yesterday i spent the day running errands. And am feeling pretty beaten up after my slippy joints were extra slippy. Unfortunately today has to be a hit the ground running kind of day. So needless to say i slept like absolute crap last night, and i'm gonna be working on miracles on 4hrs sleep. <sigh>

I'd better get moving...

JewelleryCat · 06/10/2023 14:01

As well as my usual cleaning routine, I chucked out a little bit of clutter. It’s not much but at least it’s out of the house

HauntingHazel · 06/10/2023 19:16

Welcome lost 👋

Sing that's a relief that your mum is so supportive. It sounds like she's always there for you when you need her 🥰

balloon I hope you feel better soon 💐

HillsBesideTheSea · 06/10/2023 20:44

ta da
Empty and move the books from 6 bookcases
move furniture (several pieces)
take a hammer and beat the dent out of a filing cabinet so that it opens and closes properly
pull a muscle in back

Not bad for a late start on too little sleep. Curled up with a hot water bottle to ease base so I can push on with trying to get everything removed.

DomesticElf · 06/10/2023 20:53

Hills I wouldn't want to be on your bad side 😂 Hope pulled muscle recovers well.
Balloon lurgy loves company of other lurgies. Hoping you will be back in the land of living soon.
Hi Lost!
Sing it's very important to have support when you are going through turbulent times. I'm glad to hear you can lean on your mum.

Ta das:
⏲️Bleached bathrooms and bathroom associated paraphernalia like potties and baby bath.
⏲️Lolx3, out to dry
⏲️Folded and put away dry laundry
⏲️Did the mission and looked up for cobwebs. Crikey, I should have left them, wouldn't have needed any Halloween decorations.. 😬
⏲️Entertained toddler and baby. Toddler is still under the weather, so more tantrummy than usual.
⏲️ Usually kitchen clean up and DW rotation

DomesticElf · 06/10/2023 20:55

Autocorrect is against me, but ya know what I mean.

HauntingHazel · 06/10/2023 21:04

cat every little bit helps when it comes to clutter, it all adds up eventually!
Cherry & hills I'm in agreement, I feel so much better cutting the carbs! No bloating, not sluggish, not hungry at all. Of course, that's my WOE, not just a diet to me at all.

YesTaDas:
👻 grocery pickup order placed & picked up
👻 prepped slow cooker chicken chili for Saturday
👻 got a lot loaded into the camper (we're camping again this weekend, the last time this year)
👻 moved DS back downstairs to the basement
👻 emptied our bedroom, moved to the spare room

Things should be happening at the house today, if course I'm at work so won't know what's happening until I get home. I'm leaving work early today too!

DitzyDaffodils · 07/10/2023 00:51

Where are you going this time Hazel?

Glad your mum is being supportive Sing. What exhibition did you see?

I'm decluttering too cat, every item out is one less thing to deal with so don't feel bad for only doing a little bit

Hope you recover soon Hills and Balloon

I have cobwebs on the ceiling too ED bit it would take scaffolding a long ladder to get to them, so they're staying!

I didn't do much today. Totally forgot it was car and handbag day.

Ta-da's:

🍁 Morning routine
🍁 Life admin
🍁 Gardening
🍁 Exercise
🍁 Out with a friend
🍁 Evening routine

HauntingHazel · 07/10/2023 01:44

Ditzy another local nature reserve, although I'm worried we may have to head back home again. FIL booked it for us (instead of just letting us book it) & I just pulled up the campsite. I don't know if that spot is going to be long enough for our camper AND the pickup. 🤦‍♀️and of course no phone service up there to let them know (they're camping too)

DitzyDaffodils · 07/10/2023 02:25

Oh no! Nature reserve sounds lovely Hazel but what a disappointment if you have to go back already ☹️

HauntingHazel · 07/10/2023 03:41

Well we're here and settled. I don't know what I found, but it was wrong and I'm happy to admit I was wrong in this instance! It's really patchy service though.

cosypompoms · 07/10/2023 05:12

@DomesticElf it's a hard decision to get rid or not. We are in the same position, not sure if we should get rid or not. Ours will be going on free cycle/fb for free as it's well used but still great.

@slowsundays welcome to the group and hello to @JewelleryCat and @Lostcotter too

@CherryogDog I would not have liked that either with the bt person.
I've also been reading about UPFs. Seems like they are everywhere even bread! Some brown bread is just dyed white bread!
As for waging we don't son our tea towels but we do have a plastic basket under the sink for wet items as they used to get thrown in the machine and then go mouldy. The wets basket works well here.

As for flying.... I have at posted much as had a not very nice parents evening and I was upset and dealing with that. I'm nothing awful just not optimum.

Spider web: I'm not against a spiders web or a spider really so I just leave them alone until they've moved on.

✅ hallway all done each day
✅ car cleaned out and bag
✅ posted and picked up parcels
✅ delivered some free cycle stuff
✅ toddler group
✅ swimming with baby and lessons with bigger one.
✅ hooping done and Friday is weigh day and I've lost 900g so I'm thrilled with that.

Looking forward to getting my sewing machine out today for an autumn project for toddler group.

cosypompoms · 07/10/2023 05:13

@CherryogDog oh dear lots of typos for you sorry. I was talking about soaking washing.

DomesticElf · 07/10/2023 07:17

pompoms congrats on your weight loss 😊
Our travel system is in a good shape but there is one crucial thing - DS has chewed the cover on the bar, which then got lost with all the moves because I stopped putting it on. So it's a travel system minus that bar. I don't know if anyone would want it like that.

CherryogDog · 07/10/2023 08:21

@cosypompoms I thought you'd been on the sauce 😄

cosypompoms · 07/10/2023 08:42

Hahahah I wish!
